TiernanZimmy is now suing the State of FL for recovery of $300K in Defense fees. This guy has balls as big as globes and solid brass...walks away from a slam-dunk murder wrap and then pokes the Tiger in the eye with a stick.
Go away quietly into the night asswipe, ya gotta away with murder...literally. -
TedSheckler"Salm-dunk murder wrap", huh?

He's not "suing" them. He's entitled to reimbursement of those expenses under Florida law.Tiernan;1491814 wrote:Zimmy is now suing the State of FL for recovery of $300K in Defense fees. Tiernan face, meet the door. -
TiernanThe Florida Judicial Administration which is where Zimmy would get the refund from is prepared to challenge most of the expenses his band of shysters are claiming he is entiltled to...so he will in fact end up "sueing" the state (if) he decides to pursue it after the FJA says "go fuck yourself".
Thus Tiernan is right agin. -

If it's a black person, don't let them lead you to California. Apparently black people get off there, since OJ did.Tiernan;1491862 wrote:I know if Im ever going to murder somebody I'm gonna find away to lure them to FL before I do it...everybody gets off!

It's not the FJA's call. They can say "GFY" all they want, but they don't decide if they're paid or not. A judge will make the call, and if he tells them to pay, they'll pay.Tiernan;1491887 wrote:The Florida Judicial Administration which is where Zimmy would get the refund from is prepared to challenge most of the expenses his band of shysters are claiming he is entiltled to...so he will in fact end up "sueing" the state (if) he decides to pursue it after the FJA says "go **** yourself".

The only way Zimmerman doesn't get paid, is if he submits expenses outside what are allowed by the law. If his lawyers submit the expenses properly, then unless the Florida assembly changes the law on the books - he's getting paid. -
TiernanFJA has already said they expect to challenge ALL expenses submitted by Zimmy. I suspect a judge will follow their recommendations. If not and this turd gets anything more than a parking meter validation, it will be a travesty beyond the unthinkable that has already taken place.

He's entitled to some reimbursement since the prosecution was clearly motivated by politics rather than evidence.Tiernan;1491952 wrote:I suspect a judge will follow their recommendations.
That said, he got a ton of donations for his defense that should be taken into account. On the other hand, he's probably entitled to an amount up to what a state provided defense might have cost. -

State provided defense= life in prison.
How much is that worth? -

I agree. However I don't think the state should be obligated to provide the best defense money can buy (I'm not debating whatever the FL statute happens to be).gport_tennis;1491968 wrote:State provided defense= life in prison.

An interesting aspect to all the coverage this case got is that it enabled Zimmerman to raise donations to buy a top legal defense team. On the other hand, he otherwise probably wouldn't have been charged. -

Yeah, we should have skipped the jury trial.
Some sore losers out there.
Now, back to the real story --- how about some Justice for Delbert! -

To be fair, under an imaginary set of facts Zimmerman was clearly guilty of murder.QuakerOats;1491973 wrote:Yeah, we should have skipped the jury trial. -
QuakerOatsSo, the local authorities who had all the facts determined they could not charge Mr. Zimmerman (a decision later vindicated by the jury's ruling); yet the state pressed on anyhow bowing to pressure from left-wing, race-baiting pimps and rent-a-mobs hired by radical activist organizations to stir up controversy. And thus, Mr. Zimmerman was forced to hire legal counsel even though he was unfairly targeted, and now, after being vindicated, is seeking reimbursement. I hope he wins his claims for reimbursement; maybe those who caved to the radicals will not be so improperly, and incorrectly, swayed the next time.

This wont pay for his defense team. Just whatever it cost to pay for their witnesses to come in for trial etc. he is on the hook for the $400-500 an hour he paid O'Mara and West.gut;1491969 wrote:I agree. He'll get a lot of his debts knocked down in his bankruptcy, and then he'll get a stream of potential revenue from others looking to exploit the event once those debts have been lowered.
It really is the American dream. -
gutI'm not sure if legal fees can be discharged in bankruptcy. I'm sure they've already gotten a nice chunk, and with the publicity the rest is an easy write-off.
But he's also facing a potential civil judgement. Based on some of the jury comments I saw, I suspect he may be paying the Martin's a fee bucks in a wrongful death suit. -

Stand Your Ground applies to civil suits as well. The Martins better get cracking on their own book if they want to cash in more than they already have.gut;1492252 wrote:I'm not sure if legal fees can be discharged in bankruptcy.
