Yeah, I'd be more worried about her army than those dragons.gut;1442143 wrote:OK....spoiler alert to the answer:
Was the "dragon heads the size of an apple" important? Because that is about the size currently of Khaleesi's dragons. The whole "far east novelty" makes me think maybe she does have like miniature dragons. -
derek bomarthose dragons heads currently are bigger than an apple. I'd say they're the size of watermelons.

[SP]The dragons are much bigger than that now in A Dance with Dragons. (In the end of the 5th book) [/SP]gut;1442143 wrote:OK....spoiler alert to the answer:

Manhattan BuckeyeJust watched it, as much as I loved the third book (storm of swords) it is very difficult to adapt to tv. This episode was painful. Too much cheesy dialogue, too many story lines, etc. It is becoming a soap opera, and I loved the book.

What?
There's been cheesy dialogue since season 1 episode 1.
There's been a million story lines from the start.
The show is amazing idk what else you want? -
Manhattan Buckeye
In the start there were two story lines, the North/Starks and Lannisters meeting at Winterfell, and Dany's story in Essos. That was the genius of the first book, we saw all of the main characters mostly in the same location for numerous chapters which made for great character development. Again, I love SoS, but the problem with putting it to film is that we only get snippets of all of the characters barely interacting with each other. Again I won't post spoilers but if the tv show follows the books eventually a 50 minute episode will have two minutes of each story progressing at a turtle's pace. I don't think that translates well to film.SportsAndLady;1442374 wrote:What?

Pretty sure blondy and her dragons have been around since episode 1. -
Manhattan BuckeyeThat is Dany in Essos. Again, one of the two stories from the beginning. Both in the books and the tv series.
-
gutI get what Manhattan is saying. It's frustrating, at times, to watch all they try to cram into 10 episodes in a season. They really should be at least 2 hour shows, or filming 2-3x as many shows. You'd think HBO would like to be able to air a popular new show every week for most of the year to keep subscribers paying.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeTo be fair, to do the first 3 books justice there would have to be a mega-budget that no tv studio can do. The first season was incredible because it was able to follow the story without any major deviations and without blowing a tv budget (aside from Tyrion not actually fighting against the Stark army, it was very faithful to the book). The second season was also enjoyable but it had to deviate a bit and leave out characters. I've enjoyed this season so far, but it is going to be increasingly evident that if they continue with the books there will be too many stories to tell, and not enough tv time or budget to prevent the show from becoming a soap opera.

SportsAndLadyUghhh no one cares about the books and the books vs tv talk...seriously start your own GoT thread solely dedicated to the book for crying out loud.
-
Manhattan Buckeye
Well we can. I've watched every episode and the last one was the worst episode of the entire series. Have you watched all of them? If so you would know that the dragons were no where near episode 1.SportsAndLady;1442429 wrote:Ughhh no one cares about the books and the books vs tv talk...seriously start your own GoT thread solely dedicated to the book for crying out loud.
??? Seriously? Are you drunk? -

AGREED.SportsAndLady;1442429 wrote:Ughhh no one cares about the books and the books vs tv talk...seriously start your own GoT thread solely dedicated to the book for crying out loud.
Book nerds can STFU. Thanks. -

I swear people bring up the book more to brag about actually reading the books than actually contributing to a GoT conversation.Automatik;1442455 wrote:AGREED.

Manhattan BuckeyeOr perhaps it is because this past episode was written by GRRM, the author of the books - it is completely relevant to the show. And IMO it was the worst episode of the entire series because it was all over the place.
It will become a trend. You can't have a 50 minute show with a dozen plotlines. And if HBO doesn't deviate there will be nearly two dozen plotlines.
I'm repeating myself because apparently some people missed it the first time around, but at the beginning of the show (won't mention the books or else some people might get the vapors) there were TWO plotlines. It worked very well. As the story unfolds (or IMO eventually unravels) it becomes more and more difficult to film and keep the audience satisfied. -

Oh you mean storylines were created as the show goes on?!?! What?!?!Manhattan Buckeye;1442599 wrote:Or perhaps it is because this past episode was written by GRRM, the author of the books - it is completely relevant to the show. Sheesh...bitch bitch bitch. It's always bitching with some people. Just watch the fucking show, because it is a great show. If you don't agree, don't bring it up after every god damn episode.
Now back to Khaleesi and her doggy style sex. -
Manhattan BuckeyeYou are going to be the one griping if HBO continues GRRM's books. They can't do it or else they'll lose all of their viewers.

Again with the books...do you seriously not understand what I am saying? Lol -
Automatik
He really doesn't.SportsAndLady;1442632 wrote:Again with the books...do you seriously not understand what I am saying? Lol
HBO lose it's viewers? Yeah, that's gonna happen. -
Manhattan BuckeyeWe can discuss the tv show. If one didn't read the books, one can appreciate that at the beginning Dany was with Jorah and Khal Drogo from the beginning....the other scene was Robert, ALL of the Lannisters meeting with ALL of the Starks at Winterfell. That was great because the tv show could develop the characters with sufficient screentime.
Now there isn't enough screentime for all of these characters. -
Manhattan Buckeye
You are begging me to post spoilers. Yeah, HBO will lose viewers if they adapt books 4 and 5. They sucked.Automatik;1442638 wrote:He really doesn't.

I think the screentime per character is just fine. What now? -
Manhattan BuckeyeAdd about a dozen more. And the characters that you likely enjoy the most do nothing.
-
AutomatikI enjoy the show as is and give zero fucks about the books adaptation, similarities, differences, etc.
Clear enough? -
Manhattan BuckeyeYeah it is clear.
And my point is this isn't an independent screenwriter developing the plots. George R.R. Martin is a little bit crazy, very slow in his writing, yet hired good lawyers and protected his product well. He allows NO fan fiction at all, NO trademark violations of his works, and if HBO continues it needs his blessing at every turn.
This is a guy so nuts in his will he boasts that if he dies (which could likely happen given his age and weight) he won't even allow a ghost writer to finish the story.
So the tv show and books are more linked than your average show.
Is that clear?
