Pretty sure watching Leno would lead people to want to commit violence.WebFire;1343455 wrote:Jay Leno said they thought about cancelling tonight's show, but decided to go on because they thought people could use a distraction before going to bed. -
tk421Seriously, because a shooting in Connecticut Leno thought about not going on air? Why? It's not like 9/11, it a local tragedy, but hundreds of people have died violently in the hours since it occured.

And just like 9/11, the whole country is devastated. No, I'm not comparing the two and saying they are the same, but I can see why he'd think that. -

Odds are he didn't actually contemplate going off air but rather they thought it was the correct thing to say.GoChiefs;1343514 wrote:And just like 9/11, the whole country is devastated. No, I'm not comparing the two and saying they are the same, but I can see why he'd think that. -

Yea she actually wrote it. Then deleted it after getting attacked. Some guy tweeted for her to eat a dick and it got like 10k rt's lol. -
vball10setCan't imagine waking up as a parent of one of these kids this morning (if any of them even slept). My empathy, though still present, has turned to anger. I do believe in a hell, so I hope this pos's soul burns for eternity.

I don't see how any of them could actually fall asleep. reclegend22I feel bad for Ryan Lanza. His life was just pretty much ruined after the reckless way in which the media, without apparently any valid confirmation, reported him as a mass murderer.

Good insight. I agree with this. Because it was children, Adam Lanza will go down as the worst mass murderer in American history. And it's not even close. He executed 20 children. That's Texas Chainsaw status.gut;1343298 wrote:To me that angle screams wanting to go down in infamy. Otherwise he's just some nutjob that offed his parents and is quickly forgotten. It's taking revenge on the society that obviously rejected him, and making them feel some of the pain that he felt. -

I would be suing the fuck out of them.reclegend22;1343586 wrote:I feel bad for Ryan Lanza. His life was just pretty much ruined after the reckless way in which the media, without apparently any valid confirmation, reported him as a mass murderer. -

No he wont. This isnt even the biggest school massacre. The guy killed 38 kids in the Bath school massacre.reclegend22;1343593 wrote:Good insight. I agree with this. This is the second biggest school massacre behind Cho, according to most of the news outlets. When was the Bath school massacre? Never even heard of it. Also, Cho broke the record according to pretty much any source.Pick6;1343595 wrote:No he wont. This isnt even the biggest school massacre. The guy killed 38 kids in the Bath school massacre.
Just looked it up. Bath happened in 1927. Nobody remembers that. This Lanza guy will go down in infamy as the worst U.S. mass murderer ever. IMO, of course. -

Brian Williams at least twice compared it to 9/11. Made me sick, I turned the channel.GoChiefs;1343514 wrote:And just like 9/11, the whole country is devastated. No, I'm not comparing the two and saying they are the same, but I can see why he'd think that. -

Until the next one tries to top this. Although I'm not sure how you will find an easier target than kindergartners, so maybe we have that going for us.reclegend22;1343608 wrote:This is the second biggest school massacre behind Cho, according to most of the news outlets. TiernanKnew a weirdo loner would be ultimately responsible and his surviving family and neighbors who thought it was easier to shun and avoid him rather than be up his ass about all his weird shit need to look long and hard in the mirror.

Well those sources are wrongreclegend22;1343608 wrote:This is the second biggest school massacre behind Cho, according to most of the news outlets. When was the Bath school massacre? Never even heard of it. Also, Cho broke the record according to pretty much any source.

Maybe. But again, I had never even heard of the Bath Massacre, and if I did, I completely forgot about it. It happened during the Prohibition. Nobody remembers that. I am sure there were plenty of mass murderings during the Cowboy and Indian days that were much worse than anything the DC Snipers or Cho or this guy in Connecticut did, but they happened over a hundred years ago and they just don't have the same impact that modern day events have.LJ;1343661 wrote:Well those sources are wrong
Adam Lanza will be remembered as the greatest American mass school murderer ever, being that it happened in the modern era and involved so many little children. You are obviously allowed to disagree, but this guy is going down in infamy. -

Your line of thinking doesn't make sense. By your logic, Lanza will only be remembered as that for a time, and then will be replaced by a newer mass murderer because at some point, this event will have happened a long time ago, and won't have the impact that the newer modern day events have.reclegend22;1343671 wrote:Maybe. He will be remembered because they want you to remember, which is what makes me sick about today's media and population. People are sheep and only care about what the media tells them is true. Kehoe killed 38 kids, 5 adults and himself. 58 more were seriously injured. This wasn't a one room schoolhouse attacked by Indians. This was a 20th century style school blown up by a crazy. -

Look guy, I know you're probably not happy about how this will get folks talking about gun control and all but this situation is pretty damn bad. 20 little kids who were probably just thinking about what they might get for Christmas were murdered by a mad man in a place that people think is supposed to be safe. Every parent in America I'm sure is feeling similar sick-to-their-stomach feelings as they were on 9/11. It's not a local tragedy.tk421;1343510 wrote:Seriously, because a shooting in Connecticut Leno thought about not going on air? Why? Agree. Obviously in terms of number of deaths and world-wide ramifications, this doesn't compare to 9/11. But I think the shock value of it (being young kids) gives many that same sad feeling they had during 9/11.BoatShoes;1343684 wrote:Look guy, I know you're probably not happy about how this will get folks talking about gun control and all but this situation is pretty damn bad. 20 little kids who were probably just thinking about what they might get for Christmas were murdered by a mad man in a place that people think is supposed to be safe. WebFireI know this stuff doesn't usually bother me. But this one got to me. I think a lot people are in that boat.

sleeperThis will be forgotten in 2 months. I mean, does anyone remember the last time you thought about the Colorado theater shootings?
9/11 is already in history books and changed America forever. The only way I see this becoming a national memory is if the white house throws the 2nd amendment under the bus because of it.
