I contend that these types of things are unstoppable.

I tend to agree. There is no way that a government can make a population 100% safe. It is a utopian fairtale. Bad things happen, it's tragic but it's the price of not living in a draconian police state. Sure, we could have 100% employment with government agents on every corner of America, all schools, malls, grocery stores, book stores, libraries, etc. all with metal detectors and armed guards. Long list of items that we are not allowed access too. I don't want to live in a country like that.

Maybe... Be interesting to find out

Makes no sense at all why he'd kill his mom then go kill her students. I just don't get that at all.

it doesn't make sense at all why he would do any of this.

Mom didn't give him enough attention, jealous of the attention her students received?

To me that angle screams wanting to go down in infamy. Otherwise he's just some nutjob that offed his parents and is quickly forgotten. It's taking revenge on the society that obviously rejected him, and making them feel some of the pain that he felt.

I can't even process what kind of person it takes to commit such an atrocity. I wouldn't mind pissing on that cocksucker's corpse.

To me this is directly correlated to all the airtime given to this horrible happening.

Turns out his mother was just a part-time substitute at the school, so that throws my theory out.

Reading that the shooter seemed to be a little autistic

Killer was also not a trouble maker, not noticeable, not anti-social and was "just a kid"

According to what people? There are the likely shit heads you might guess and then the quiet angered kid that is a little harder to see. Hard to believe he didn't fit one of those categories.

I don't think it would be very common for a high school classmate to think about the troubles of someone that isn't in the group. Was this classmate a close friend?

Jay Leno said they thought about cancelling tonight's show, but decided to go on because they thought people could use a distraction before going to bed.

Trying to interpret the motives and actions of an insane person is never going to make sense. People whose brains are functioning properly don't kill random people. Some wires were crossed in the dudes head, he got hold of a deadly weapon, and he used it on his mother and a bunch of random children. There is no motive, just a cause, and the cause is mental illness.
