The sad thing is it only lasts a couple of days. Can't help it as I love it.
WR gets a lot of attention, but it's not one of my favorites.

I'm sure that's the case with many people. I just don't venture much out of my comfort zone when it comes to bourbon. I tried this back in 2010 and liked the smoothness of it. It was a far cry from the Jack and Jim I'd had in the past.

Hell, if you are using JD and JB as your criteria, you'd probably like just about everything. :D

True. I used to get Crown every now and then until I decided to boycott Diageo.

Just not into whiskeys like I am beer. Was offered to join a Scotch club tasting High End Scotches, but I just can't get into Scotch.

So Webfire, what are some better bourbons I can try?

There are plenty good bourbons that are affordable. Some of my favorites:

    Maker's Mark
    Buffalo Trace
    Elijah Craig
    Knob Creek
    Wild Turkey 101

All readily available at the liquor store.

Had some of them. The only one I know I never tried is the 101. Might have to retry them. Even though I've had quite a few Maker's in my day. Maybe this week I'll pick up a bottle of one of them instead of my WR. Thanks for your input.

Those are probably my favorites in order (of the cheaper bourbons, anyway). I really like Buffalo Trace. I'd say it's a tie with Maker's.

A Lizardville just opened up in Fairlawn. They will be having a bit of my money in the coming weeks. Their Scotch selection is VERY respectable.

We went to Lizardville in Cleveland for one night of my bachelor party. It's conveniently located next to a titty bar. Cigars, scotch, and tits.

I met Auchentosan 3 wood that night. Delish

I saw they have Talisker 30-year on the table. Will be enjoying.

Is this the same Maker's that wanted to reduce their ABV months ago. Very InBev like with their new Bowtie cans that has less beer in them. Maybe why I went away from Maker's. $$$ over quality. Hate when distillers and brewers pull that shit.

Sorry I'm a beer snob and just hate that stuff. The Buffalo Trace is something I will check out.

Yes, that Maker's. However, they didn't do it because of customer reaction. Doing that is more common then you think though. JD used to be a 90 proof is now 80 proof. They've cut it twice.

Despite that almost blunder, it really is a quality bourbon.

I'll believe ya. Just hated they published it. I don't remember JD publishing it. Then again I don't remember my last JD. Had to be over 10 years ago when I had it.

Funny as I type I just heard a Gentleman Jack commercial on the TV. WTF !!!

Here was the last one to get it from 86 to 80 (2004). They had previously cut if from 90 to 86, not sure what year.

Looked for these tonight at my cigar tasting and none of those were available, so it was WR once again.

They didn't have Maker's Mark? Seems like EVERYONE has that.

Go to real store then. Hell, even my local Kroger liquor store has every single one of those. Pretty standard stuff.

Actually the store I go to, and where I was at for the cigar tasting, has them in their Liquor section. They just didn't have some of those in the cigar tasting area at their Cash Bar.

Yeah, I know. Still fun to sip, though. :)

I haven't bought a bottle in a while so I bought a bottle of macallan 15 since I was out of single malt. I like a lot of singles, but I almost always buy Macallan for my house.

    Kinda what I was thinking.
