TVLINE | Will there be another major death next week?
I can say that the cast that enters the final episode this season does not leave the final episode intact. And there are a lot of surprises still yet to come.
Well, I'd think Herschel has to be a favorite. But with Shane already gone (and Dale for that matter), that creates a fairly big hole in the cast. The daughter that tried to commit suicide seems like a safe bet - she's barely been in anything. Otis' wife, too.

And if they got Lori out of the picture, then in addition to Shane being gone that's a pretty interesting dynamic for Rick & Carl.

Pretty much all the other characters are minor enough to be fair game (with the exception of Darryl, and possibly Andrea). My guess is Jackie Chan and his girlfriend survive.

Tdog probably sweats out every script. Tough to put odds on him.

Sigourney Weaver doesn't have much use, either.

    Did I miss anyone?

[Hesitates] Well, I can’t confirm that. But what I can say is that Shane turning after being stabbed definitely does inform Rick revealing what Jenner whispered, in the next episode.

That's weak. I don't know what the books say, but if that's the secret it's lame. I don't think we needed a doctor to tell us there's no cure for those zombies - they all look like they'd be pretty dead even if they weren't infected. But it does present a scenario where someone is bit, and if they can keep the infection from killing them then, theoretically, they won't die & turn into a zombie.

^^^which would be a fantastic way to kill Lori. She gets bit, but they're able to stave off the infection from killing her. However, they forget about the baby, which then rips out of her like something out of Alien! Or the fact that if she has a miscarriage...

    It's really not weak...

The scientist made it seem like there was no hope and was willing to take his life and anybody else with him. Rick pleaded to the scientist to basically keep his head up and then that's when the scientist whispered into Rick's ear.

Rick obviously has kept it secret because he didn't want to induce panic within the people of his group.

Your theory about the scientist telling Rick his wife was pregnant would have been weak.

If that's the case, then Daryl's brother would have to be a walker because he cut off his own hand. I just don't buy the idea that being bitten does absolutely nothing to you. I think that being bit gets the virus in your system, and it takes ~12 hours to for you to be infected. Or, maybe the virus is quick acting and kills you within 12 hours. Definitely a lot to think about, but is it THAT different from every other Zombie Plague movie as far as how you get infected?
At this point it's clearly obvious the virus began as an airborne virus and all humans contracted it. I don't know what more people need to realize that...

Also, being bitten kills you because of the bacterial infection... It's a slow death as the bacteria slowly kills/shuts down your body... After you die, you revive a walker.

I have read that next weeks episode will definitely deliver the goods. I didn't read the spoilers, but from the comments it seems like people are highly anticipating this episode.

That's what I was saying. Someone said that a bite does nothing to you. I was just saying that there is something to getting bitten or scratched.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

I like this idea A LOT!

It'd be pretty awesome if the baby dies inside of her, revives as a walker, and then kills her by eating her from the inside.
  • hoops23
I have no idea what will happen to Lori, if anything, however, I'm willing to bet she dies before the baby is born... Just don't see a baby being implemented into the show. Or as someone mentioned, she could have a miscarriage.

Also, AMC had a poll about which character that's recently died would viewers most miss. Surprisingly Dale has 51% pulling in over 23,000 votes. Shane was second with 41%. Obviously, not many people cared about Sophia.

That's my point about being weak. It's not really worthy of being kept a secret. It changes absolutely nothing for them. It's a virus that affects the dead. Who cares? It bears no impact on their situation. What about that would induce panic?

Yeah, although after the first half of the season I don't think we can rule out a 4-show story arc about how "look, it's tough raising a baby in the zombie apolcalypse, too!"

I haven't read the books and I guess they are following those pretty closely. But the downside to offing Sophia is it would have been interesting in a subsequent season to fast forward a few years where she and Carl are teenagers. I think Carl's character could be more interesting as a young teenager...not to mention replacing a fairly mediocre child actor.

I feel the same way. I dont understand why this should be a big deal?

The fact that everybody already has the virus would probably induce a bit of panic. It's possible that some of the survivors would have ended it there, or became a shell and went into hiding, not doing anything to help the group.

The show is loosely following the comics. Otis would still be alive, as would Dale. Carl shoots Shane in the head at the camp from Season 1 because Shane was about to kill Rick there.

Maybe its just me but I was hoping for something more out of that big secret

I just don't know what else it could be, honestly...

The fact that everyone has the virus would be pretty big news to someone in Rick's shoes at the time. I would be way more disappointed if it was that Lorie was pregnant.

The scientist ran blood tests on everybody, so he probably saw the virus strain in all of them. Rick was arguing with him to not kill everybody and to open the doors... That's probably when the scientist felt obligated to tell Rick why he had no hope.

I just think some people put too much stock into the "secret."

And with the recent hints about people turning into zombies with no bites (like those two officers) it's seemingly heading to that reveal.

Looking at twitter and whatnot, it's amazing how many people still don't believe the virus is airborne.

Also, when Shane mentioned that the officers didn't have bites, Rick kind of just passed it off... He said something like "Maybe they were just scratched"... Rick didn't seem too surprised about it.

I haven't read all the posts but what about the possiblity of the baby being born with immunity to the virus and a "cure" is in the baby's blood?

I dont disagree with what the secret is. I think it would be lame as hell if the secret was that Lorie was pregnant, I'm glad that isnt it.

I feel like they made a point to keep it a secret for awhile, that was last season when they ran into the scientist. I guess I was just hoping for something else, maybe they will put a twist on it.

That being said, still pumped for Sunday.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure what the secret is. Unless I missed it, I think it's all speculation right now.

However, it surely sounds like Sunday may be the best episode of The Walking Dead yet...

If I recall it took a while, And I think when they were in the CDC the doctor said it took his wife 5 hours or so to show signs of zombie. I agree with you though. it must be in the air and you get it when you die or everyone already has it.

    The title "The Walking Dead"

Does it refer to the zombies, or the humans?

Again...No hope??? That's GOOD news - it's not some sort of plague that is going to kill you. It's good news that it's dormant until you die. Hopeless would be "you all have it, and will turn within weeks". Your #1 fear would be you get bit by a mosquito or something and get the disease and turn zombie. The virus doesn't affect the living - practically the first real break they've had.

Well, the humans aren't anymore dead today or tomorrow than they were yesterday, so I think the answer is pretty obvious.
