Watched Gangster Squad. A lot of star power, but overall wasn't a fan. Penn's was awful.

    Just finished watching it. Excellent.

Saw Safe Haven tonight. I liked it even though it was a corny, chick flick. I didn't like the ending. Lot of the comments I read from the critics were that the two main characters didn't have any personality. I thought they were more real. Maybe not the most engaging, but real. Regardless of the believability of the plot.

    And Julianne Hough is hot.

I went to see silver linings playbook last night and I didn't love it. Maybe my expectations were too high.

[sp]Basically she liked him because he treated her like shit and she lied to him to get him to fall in love with her. I didn't buy it. And I was irritated when she complained because he let her keep lying to him. It wasn't his fault. She was the lying whore. lol[/sp]

    Saw Die Hard today.

Once you get passed the invincibility of Bruce Willis you get an action movie with the typical rooftop running scene mixed in with father son bonding over killing bad guys.

    I wasn't bored.

I saw some older movies yesterday for the first time: Lincoln Lawyer, The Devil Inside, Toxic Avenger, and The Expendables.

I enjoyed Lincoln Lawyer and The Expendables.

I bought two movies today. Savages with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Barton Fink. I've only seen one Coen Brothers' movie that I didn't care for so I'm pumped for Barton Fink.

    Which one was that?

    The Ladykillers?

That would be the only Coen film that I hated. Intolerable Cruelty was "meh" - and Burn After Reading seemed disjointed.

My apologies. I guess I didn't think of every movie they were involved in. I had no clue they were behind Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty.

    You went to see this?

    Idiot.

Wife drug me to it too. Other than her being extremely fucking hot I thought it was pretty boring movie and that was its only saving grace. When I found out the ending......I thought it made it pretty damned stupid.

NEver have said anything to other people at the theatre before...but almost did at this one. Damned girls talked and screached at diff moments were so fuckin annoying

Yep. Went with my girlfriend. I get unlimited movies so I see them all. Good talk, though.

Zero Dark thirty was already talked about on here and another thread so dont have to get really into that one.

I had watched SEAL Team Six when it came out on NatGeo on the sunday before the election. There was hub bub about it being political in the releasing of it, etc, etc etc.

Wathed it again last night. I liked Zero Dark Thirty, but if I had to pick which of the two I liked better....I think I liked SEAL TEam Six better. There were a few difference, albeit minor I suppose, and the NG version was much lower budgeted movie, but I think I liked it better. Say what you will about our awful President, but he go that one right, and when they got to the part of the movie when they played teh audio of his press conference saying we got him I still got goosebumps.

If you have a chance to watch....I would recommmend SEAL TEam Six

There is a documentary movie coming out called Murph, The Protector in select cities and theatres in March.

If you read the book The Lone Survivor then you are familiar with Michael Murphy and OPeration Red Wings. Looks to be pretty good as well

Just saw Slumdog for the first time tonight (yeah I'm late), very interesting movie. Enjoyed until the WTF Bollywood credits.

I enjoyed the credits and the cinematography. It was beautifully filmed. I was less thrilled about the narrative - just too out there. There's a great film blogger (I think it might be filmdrunk, or perhaps one of its co-sites) that wrote an excellent article on how much one needed to suspend reality to get into the picture. If I can find it I'll post the link.

Oh, and the Indian girl was stunningly gorgeous, way too hot to be with the dorky looking lead.

    edit...it was filmdrunk:

Warning some foul language - but despite his ranting I agree with his point that either one buys into the fantasy (and suspend belief) or you don't. A lot of the narrative consisted of unexplained plot devices.
