Paleo eating

I do the same, regarding the walking.

You could try a Primal template. It includes dairy. Generally the recommendations come to remove dairy when trying to heal gut inflammation or battle an auto-immune condition. If you can handle it without digestive issues, I don't think milk or cheese are much of an issue.

I drink raw milk and cream (when I can access it) and I will grab grass-fed/raw cheese every so often. Same with Greek Yogurt, Kefir, etc.

I mostly just try to avoid processed foods as much as possible especially HFCS.

I usually abide to the "don't eat shitty foods" program rather than stick to some strict diet.

I really try to focus on that stuff myself, but I also have some extra income and make it a priority. I wouldn't stress over it if you're unable to really go down that road and definitely don't let it deter you from trying to just stick to the right foods in the first place. Unfortunately, many get turned off because they think they need to invest all of this money into food/supplements and instead just don't even try.
Thanks for the info. I may start introducing some of this during my next plan. I keep at it pretty well when I'm "in the zone" in regards to eating clean and sticking to it, but I never really focused on food quality in terms of paleo dieting. I still stay far away from processed foods for the most part and aim to eat as much raw fruits and veggies as possible.

One thing that really sucks is when I have to shop for groceries. I can only buy what I can carry. I miss the days of loading up at Sam's Club!

I dropped a lot of fat over last spring/summer, down to 172ish and 10.5%. Most of this was the result of major changes in my diet. I'd like to hit that same percentage but at 180-185...solid. I may even get my body comp via dunk tank this time, last BF test was with calipers.

I was also rather weak in the gym during my cut. I had wrist surgery almost 2 years ago and I'm STILL experiencing lingering effects from it. I can't go heavy on any free weight presses.....none, it blows. I'm hoping in the next 6 months or so I can start bumping that up.

But again, that's a few weeks away...the holidays are here. I'm still lifting and fasting loosely, along with feeding my face regularly.

Unfortunately, how do you define "shitty?" Paleo isn't strict. It does remove a lot of stuff that was never consumed for a vast majority of existence.

Anything the USDA recommends, for the most part, I'd consider "shitty." After all, they still think fat causes heart disease and Diabetes is best treated by eating slow-digesting carbs and using Insulin/glucose-disposal meds. How about just reduce the carbs?

Anything processed, made with artificial sweeteners or chemicals I'd consider "shitty." Grain products, legumes, many fruits, etc...the same thing.

Again, a lot of it is preference and tolerance. With that said, you can find many people out there thinking they are eating healthy, yet they are consuming a diet with a ton of "non-real foods." A lot of this stuff has their place for specific people. I won't lie, post-workout I am very liberal with what I consume because from a damage standpoint, you can mitigate almost all of the negative effects of consumption and it can be used for muscle growth and the activation of protein synthesis. This doesn't mean it's optimal for health though, even if it does help with training/aesthetic goals.

That's why this stuff is so enjoyable yet difficult to debate. Everyone has their own perspective, but everyone also has their own goals.

    In this order for me:</SPAN>
Level 1: White flour, White Rice, Sugar</SPAN>
Level 2: Starch, Beer, Veggie Oil</SPAN>
Level 3: Wheat flour, Brown Rice</SPAN>

I have no problem (digestive or theory wise) with dairy (including butter), fruits (including bananas), nuts, olive oil, or beans.</SPAN>

What's your beef with Beer? You think beer is shitty, then you need to add Juices, Milk, and Wine ahead of it as shittier.

There aren't may fruits I dislike so I eat them all. I'm not concerned with getting fat off of melons.

I can think of way shittier food than that.

It is addictive. I drink it, often, but it is not the best for being pious.

Seems like doctors half ass it when it comes to nutrition and sports therapy.

This clown is basically ripping off Berkhan's theory/work and trying to make it his own. He isn't the first to come up with this "eureka" moment after Berkhan.

Well it's the new year and of course like the rest of the world I'm starting to key back in on my diet.

I've been tossing around the idea of buying meat online, primarily chicken (beef/steaks occasionally . I have limited access in my area and the selection isn't the best. I really miss the days of having a Sam's Club membership.

Anyone have any recommendations/experiences? Omahasteaks.com is all I've heard of. Right now you can get 12 5oz chicken breasts for 29.99, doesn't sound like the best deal, but could work.
  • Commander of Awesome
Don't have a Trader Joes around? I buy their chicken with bone (soo much cheaper and tastes better IMO) for about $3 a package. Package is usualy least 4 some times up to 6 legs, or 3 breasts. Best deal I've seen around.

I wish, I'd kill to have a Trader Joes around me. The only ones are in Manhattan and they are more often then not a mad house and/or picked over.....gotta hit them at the right times.

I used to get the big bags of Tyson chicken breasts from Sam's. Good quality and a nice deal.

I buy meat in bulk from Costco and just store it in the freezer. If you have freezer space, it's a great way to do it.
  • Automatik
I'd love to be able to do that also, but no Costco close and no vehicle....hence why I'm considering online ordering and home delivery.

www.schwans.com is looking like a solid option.

Figured I'd bump this baby up. PR dead lift at 355 for a double. Eventual goal is to be at 2.5 X my bodyweight, and I'm around 167 right now.

Thanks for the bump. I was exploring eatwild.com tonight and ran across a farm that raises pasture animals about an hour away in Indiana. Their prices (at least from 2012) are great. Sent them an email asking to put down a deposit on a half or whole hog and a half or whole lamb. We've still got about a half of grassfed beef in our freezer.

Their price on pork is $1.90/lb (live weight). Only $3.00/lb for beef (hanging weight). More than I pay ($2.53/lb from my grandma) for beef but cheaper than anyone else I've ever found. They are $4.50/lb (hanging weight) for lamb.

I need to start eating better. Starting today.
