My abstinence will be about 10-11 weeks, as per the article. I'd be interested to see my numbers.Commander of Awesome;1693722 wrote:Very interesting. I've been pretty unimpressed by most of the alcohol effect studies I've read, including long term effects. However this article was pretty cool/interesting.
One thing I have noticed... with the calories my body is losing from my alcohol intake (as well as carbohydrates), my appetite has increased considerably. Just the want for a snack at multiple times. That is something that I will need to curb if I want to lose weight during this abstinence. -

I've gotten in the habit of having my liver checked via blood work once a year. Effects on my body of drinking is something I've fairly aware/concerned with.ernest_t_bass;1693762 wrote:My abstinence will be about 10-11 weeks, as per the article. I'd be interested to see my numbers.

Most of the studies regarding alcohol refer to alcoholics, people who drink to excess quantities daily (take GW Bush for example. He drank a handle of whiskey a day for more than 10 years I read once) or ppl who binge drink weekly. Neither of which apply to me and my habits.
In terms of eating, get through a few days and it crooned easier. I started a variation on the IFF in the health thread and first 2 days were tough then I got used to it. -

I fall into this category. While I love to drink for taste (good craft brews), I drink them til I'm drunj, and all too often. By all too often, I mean usually 7 days per week. That hurts the pocketbook mightily.Commander of Awesome;1693775 wrote:or ppl who binge drink weekly. Neither of which apply to me and my habits. -

It goes without having to say, but anyway: Fuck InBev. -
Mooney44CardsThis is an interesting article about Jim Koch of Samuel Adams fame, and how he is a big whiny baby that hates IPAs and refuses to listen to what craft beer enthusiasts actually like.

For FBS, I think it's more important that you don't hold the fast.ernest_t_bass;1697654 wrote:Can't hold the fast. Founders Breakfast Stout. Damn. -

Curly JThe Jungle Jim's Barrel Aged Bash was a success. Finally got to try CBS. It's worth the hype. Sampled around 20 different beers. Really liked Pomegranate Lambic from Rivertown. It was my only double dip of the night. Most disappointing was Stones Arbalest and Band Bang. It was also great to try Sam Adams Kosmic Mother Funk.

Uz2Bon36Flying Monkey smashbomb ipa
Rated high (98%) but a lot of quality IPA's are available. A tad too fruity for my taste.
Ratebeer website wrote:This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. -
Uz2Bon36Also got this a few days ago from my local IGA. Brand new around here. Anyone heard of SweetWater brewing company in Atlanta?
Not bad. Could make for a decent quantity over quality brew.

vdubb96Sweetwater makes some good stuff. I do really like the 420, I can get that at our grocery store.

Ya I'm shocked our podunk iga has something not from one of the macro breweries. Pretty crisp and tasty.vdubb96;1698149 wrote:Sweetwater makes some good stuff. I do really like the 420, I can get that at our grocery store.
