Notre Dame's new coach
-
CitybuckI hear Stoops is unhappy at Oklahoma, maybe ND can get him .
-
killer_ewokWeis is a goner IMO. 2009 is his "one more year." He hasn't done enough to keep his job.

Why would Stoops be unhappy haha?Citybuck wrote: I hear Stoops is unhappy at Oklahoma, maybe ND can get him . -
athlete37um, because the Oklahoma fans are delirious idiots who want him gone...
-
jordo212000
and you wouldn't have that at Notre Dame? This makes me laugh. Just look at some of the other threadsathlete37 wrote: um, because the Oklahoma fans are delirious idiots who want him gone... -
athlete37From an Oklahoma forum regarding Stoops plane: Tracking the tail number of the plane the coaching staff uses for flights, there have been flights to Chicago in the past week...

Is that going to make him the new Rich Rod?athlete37 wrote: From an Oklahoma forum regarding Stoops plane: Tracking the tail number of the plane the coaching staff uses for flights, there have been flights to Chicago in the past week...

martyirishwe will see what happens after the season.
I would like to see stoops,
that would be great -
TiernanThere is no way OK is gonna let Stoops use the Univ. plane to go on a "job interview" at ND. That's the most asinine rumor yet.
-
sjmvsfscs08The OU plane was probably in the neighborhood to sign the contracts for the Oklahoma-Notre Dame series in 2012-2013.

grass_lickeradam scheffter just reports on his twitter that credible sources say bob stoops will be the next nd coach! i dont know who the credible sources are but usually adam scheffter is pretty credible
-
athlete37I think if the timeline ever comes out it will be determined that this was in the works following the Pitt game. Thanks to all those who gave me shit for relaying valid information. And no, you don't just boldly declare someone who is supposed to be a 20/1 shot to be the next coach without reason with 2 games left in the season...
-
Goldenboy26Athlete37, I really hope you are right, watching Brian Kelly and his theory of we cant stop Illinois so we will outscore them didnt sit very well with me
-
dwccrewSo much for Stoops being the next coach at ND.

Unless Stoops is pulling a Rich Rod, I don't think he is going anywhere from my interpretation of the article. -
killer_ewok
I wouldn't count it out just yet. Saw a report earlier on ESPN that addressed this and said that Stoops will still be the next head coach at ND.dwccrew wrote: So much for Stoops being the next coach at ND.

sjmvsfscs08You could find just as many articles saying it will be Bob Stoops. Although I'm less convinced today than I was a week ago, I still think it's 55/45 he's the next Notre Dame coach.

True, you could find alot of articles. But, the main thing is he STATED that he intends on being at Oklahoma next season. The other articles are speculation, this one quotes him.sjmvsfscs08 wrote: You could find just as many articles saying it will be Bob Stoops. I think he is keeping his options open, but I don't think he plans on going to ND. -

IMO, he's going to keep stating he's OU's coach until the monetary portion of his ND contract is agreed upon. He's not going to burn his bridge with OU players, fans, or alumni until the ND contract is signed and delivered. It's a smart move on his part, just in case ND falls through the cracks or fails to meet his requirements.dwccrew wrote:

jordo212000Not saying Stoops won't be the Head coach, but him coming out and saying he intends to stay at Oklahoma certainly doesn't bode well.
If Stoops doesn't take it, where do they go from here? -

The one thing that Stoops hasn't said yet is "no", that's why I also think it's a done deal.jordo212000 wrote: Not saying Stoops won't be the Head coach, but him coming out and saying he intends to stay at Oklahoma certainly doesn't bode well.

If Stoops falls through then it will probably be Kelly, although how shocked would you be if all of a sudden Urban Meyer is announced as the HC. -

LOL, all wishful thinking. Urban Meyer is 0% chance IMO. Kelly would be second and Stoops first choice if I were the ND AD. -
devil11971) Kelly
2) Stoops
3) ?
What if the top 2 say no, who is next in line? -
rock_knutne
All wishful thinking? I don't think Stoops is a "pipe dream" at all. As for Meyer, notice how I said "shocked".:-/dwccrew wrote:LOL, all wishful thinking. Urban Meyer is 0% chance IMO. Kelly would be second and Stoops first choice if I were the ND AD. -
FairwoodKingI don't know who will be Notre Dame's next coach, but I know who won't. They won't get their first two or three choices. I bet it's not Stoops, Meyer, or Kelly. Stoops and Meyer are at two of the biggest programs in the country. They could go through a bad year or two (as Stoops is going through this year) without anyone calling for their heads. I think Kelly will stay pat at UC for a few more years and then go to the Big 10.
Let's face it, Notre Dame is not special any more. The days when ND could pull all the top recruits are over. The only thing ND has going for it right now is money. They get to keep all the bowl money since they are not in a conference and they have their deal with NBC. They are going to have to pay a fortune for their next coach, but they have the money to spend.
