    I don't get it.

    1. He's the most famous John Thompson player and undoubtedly will still operate from a similar perspective.

    2. Georgetown's problem the last decade has been having a crappy coach, not getting talent. So, they hire a guy who seemingly should be able to recruit, but has never coached a lick?

Is this a move that still appeases JTII and the fan base, but was made because they simply had to replace JTIII?

Kentucky in the same boat. Fox and Monk are 100% gone. Sounds like Adebayo, Briscoe, Gabriel and Humphries also likely declaring. Along with 3 Seniors gone.
    Fox makes it official.

Lol and now Bolden is staying at Duke.

Interested to see what Kennard does.

Ewing has been coaching for awhile now and had been rumored for many NBA HC jobs...
  • Azubuike24
Not an assistant. He has zero head coaching experience and Georgetown thinks they can be a top 15 program. It's similar to Memphis hiring Josh Pastner...

He has been coaching in the NBA since 2002 and has been an associate head coach for the last 5 years. His name was thrown around for numerous HC gigs in the NBA and it didn't work out. There are coaches in the NBA (Steve Kerr, Jason Kidd, etc) who were given jobs without ANY coaching experience and you think it's odd that a guy with 15 years of NBA coaching experience was given a college HC job? It's not like Ewing has sat on his ass and they handed him the job solely because of his name. I'm sure his name and connection to Georgetown played a role, but let's not act like they hired a guy who doesn't know a thing about coaching.

Also Ewing's resume prior to his first HC gig is 100x better than Josh Pastner. Ridiculous comparison.

He's gonna get players. Lets see if he wins.

Malik Monk makes it official, obviously no surprise.

    This.

The only person I've seen not say how good of a hire this is, is buike lol. Ewing put his time in as an assistant, working from the bottom up. He deserves the HC at Georgetown and I think he'll do well with a good coaching staff around him.
  • Azubuike24
I never said it wasn't going to be a good hire, I said that Georgetown is still trying to recreate what they were 30 years ago.

Again, lets see if Georgetown is a top 20 program within 2-3 years. If Ewing is all that, they should be.
  • Azubuike24
It will start by Georgetown starting to get all the kids from DC, MD and Northern VA. Georgetown has gotten over a dozen players that were 4-stars or better in the last 6 (soon to be 7) recruiting classes and have made 0 NCAA Tournaments. Coaching was the problem, so we'll see if Ewing can coach. If so, they should be good right away.
  • Laley23
I do not think they are trying to recreate 30 yrs ago so much as they are hiring a guy who is coveted in many circles for coaching vacancies, and happens to be an alum and the schools best player ever. Was a great match at the right time.
kight not work out, but that's how I view it. If this was 10 years ago, Ewing is not hired, imo.

Anyone else watched "Disgraced" on Showtime? I was in tune with the situation at Baylor, but damn, had no clue the lengths Dave Bliss went. Dude is a monster.
  • wildcats20
Briscoe is leaving UK and signing with an agent.
  • wildcats20
    Carlton Bragg transferring from Kansas.

It airs and then the next day he "resigns" from his current job.

Tony Bradley testing the NBA waters. Not really sure why? He'll more than likely be back in Chapel Hill, but this just seems like a waste of time.

Kennard is hiring an agent. No shock.

Probably just gonna get some feedback like Jackson did last year and go through the process. I agree with you, though. I'd say he'll be returning to school.

Kinda interesting to see if Roy goes after Garrison Brooks, who should be getting his release from Miss State. Still have Knox on the board too, so Carolina could end up in pretty good shape if Berry and Bradley return, and they also land one of those guys.

What's this guys deal? If I have the #1 pick, I bring in Lonzo and be like "Hey we're going to pick you, but can your dad fuck off?"

Wow. That guy has some serious issues.

He's gonna completely ruin things for his kids.

The media needs to completely stop covering anything about this guy......his 15 minutes of fame has completely expired.

Maybe if people quit paying attention to him and giving him a platform, he'll just go away
