I am happy for the kid on he great career.
So Ron racked up all those yards in the Big 10 and without bowl games. To me he is still GOAT

Noah Brown against Oklahoma was similar.

I know it's D3 but John Carroll HC Tom Arth, after making a run to the final four, is leaving to go to Tennessee Chattanooga.

Unstoppable on NCAA Football 2000, just could put a whooping on people with the speed option to Ron Dayne

Although mocking. That is quite a jump from D3 to a FCS playoff team.
  • Con_Alma
...recruiting being the biggest jump and he's a guy that has had his entire coaching career at John Carroll.

    seriously?!? what an asinine response

2 pretty big names are NOT playing in their teams bowl games...Fournette and McCaffrey.

I think we'll see this more and more. Unless you're in the playoffs, some 1st rounders aren't going to risk injury for 1 more meaningless game. (See Jaylon Smith)

In addition to the injury issue, if it's fair for coaches to move on prior to the end of the season, it should be fair for players as well.

I agree. If you're an elite athlete with NFL dreams facing a game with nothing on the line other than "school pride", there's no reason to have to play it, especially knowing your coach would ditch that stuff immediately if a better offer came his way.

    Sadly, this.

Zeke's thoughts on it..."One last time to honor your university and one last chance to play with your boys who will be your brothers for life.

All these young guys deciding to skip their bowl games .I would do anything to play one more time with my brothers in that scarlet and gray."

I get what he's saying...but on the flip side, he left early soooooo...doesn't hold much water. Not quite apples to apples though I know
  • thavoice
Easy for him to say now, he has the $$.
  • Automatik
Yeah, it sounds nice, but get fucking real.

He left early. Stanford and LSU are both meh.

Anything can happen, ie Jaylon Smith.
  • ironman02
I don't really have a problem with them sitting out. There are millions of dollars at risk, and they're not playing for a championship.

I get what Zeke is saying though. He did leave early, but he didn't leave DURING a season. He played in his bowl game, so his situation wasn't quite the same as this.

But he was playing in the Rose bowl and National champ game his last two years....not quite like playing in the SUn or BW bowl.

He played in the Fiesta Bowl in his last game, and it wasn't for a championship. So when he says he finished out the season to play one last time with his brothers, that's what he did when nothing was on the line.

Like I said, I have no problem with McCaffrey or Fournette sitting out. I'm just saying that when people say Zeke has no room to talk because he also left early, he technically did, but not during a season he already committed to playing.

    You're right...fiesta, against ND.

Still a far cry from those other two bowls though if you ask me.

I think this is the beginning of a trend, no doubt. Kind of started when people questioned if CLowny should just sit out the full season as to not get injured.....

    My perspective is:

Zeke finished out his year and left early. Those guys are essentially leaving before their bowl games, which are as meaningless to the National Championship at Zeke's (although of a lower profile -- that OSU-ND game was essentially this year's USC-PSU game).

On the other hand, while Zeke had moments of being disgruntled with OSU play-calling (the sort of thing that potentially could be a catalyst for a player saying "fuck it"), he was generally healthy (at least as was reported) last year and didn't miss large chunks of the year with one injury or another, as both Fournette and McCafferty did this year, which makes their decision a lot more complicated than "play one more game with the guys!", as their goals involve showing up to combines in good health to show they're elite draft prospects and playing in an overall meaningless game could have major ramifications if they aggravate an injury.

It's $$$. If we're talking millions, people can say whatever they want about me. I'm staying healthy for the $$$.
