They could easily use the Ok beating OK State as a weak reason to mix around those teams and put WMU in the front of that pack and Navy in the back.....after this week it could easily look:
1. Bama
2. OSU
3. Clemson
4. Wash
5. Mich
6. Wisc
7. Ok
8. USC
9. Penn St
10. FSU
11. Colorado
12. WMU
13. Ok St
14. WVU
15. Louisville
16. Auburn
17. Stanford
18. Florida
19. Navy -

So Washington and Colorado play Friday night, and everyone else Saturday. If Washington wins, Saturday's games become far less dramatic IMO. Washington wins and they're in. Bucks and Bama are practically locks. And Clemson isn't losing to Va Tech. I guess that would be the only drama Saturday.
So I'm hoping Colorado wins to create bedlam on Saturday. -

Also, as an OSU fan I'd be really pissed off if Bama lost Saturday, and they still made it in.
OSU last year finished with 1 loss, but missed the playoffs because of the timing of their loss. This year, if Bama loses Saturday, they should not be in the playoffs. -

Bama is terrible. I hope OSU drops to #4 and blows them out in the semi-final game just like 3 years ago.
That way we can sleep walk through the championship game and let Urban relax for once. -

Bama could lose and get punished for playing in their title game, while OSU doesn't have to because they couldn't qualify. Florida's personal NCG is the SEC title game while Bama could either be playing not to lose or playing to keep everyone healthy. -

Agreed....it wouldn't even be viewed as a bad loss as it would probably catapult Florida into the top 10. -

the committee chair said Washington and Michigan were razor thin at 4 and 5. Didn't compare Michigan to Wisky and PSU behind them at 6 and 7. Given that they beat both of them, I could see the Big Ten champ still being stuck behind them based on head to head as I would think that would be more important than a conference title as the tiebreaker on comparable teams. There's no way they'd leave out a conference champion for yet another non conference champion, especially one with two losses, and given the strength of said conference. I agree with this. But can you imagine the public insanity if the B1G got 2 teams in...and neither were the B1G Champs or even played in the title game? I'd love it. -

but if the tables were turned, and it was Ohio State who had beaten Penn State, then went to the B10 champ game and won and left out...........there would be hell to pay no doubt. -

There's still a subjective element to be factored in. A committee presumably watches the games. They see what teams have talent and can make the event exciting. If it was all about numbers, we wouldn't need a committee. Just like the same reason college basketball doesn't just use a formula or metric to select their field. They also don't always get it right either. -

Galloway had a pretty good point the other day on basically only going by the eye test, in that we may as well just throw out the results of the games if taht is all it is going to be. Kevin Wilson out at Indiana. But it has nothing to do with wins and losses. Sounds like his treatment of players was the issue.

Ohio state lost, at home, to a team who was using their backup QB and didnt make it to the big ten champ game. ALthough not a prerequisite to make it, I would have found it tough last year to put OSU AND MSU in the final 4
Bama would be losing the SEC championship game.
CLemson and Bama deserved to be in, as did MSU. Oklahoma had one loss and ended their season with wins vs the 4th, 11th and 9th ranked teams.
Last year Ohio state was only 1-1 against ranked teams and coasted most of season. -

Would be different if Bama dropped below a 2-loss team, but if they were still a 1-loss team, their resume would still out-pace all 1-loss teams except OSU anyway. They could justifiably drop seeds, but not really justified out of the top 4.

Completely doesn't shock me. A few guys I ref with occasionally ask me to sub in to do the chains for BG games and by far the worst sideline I've ever been on was Indiana's last year. Granted college football sidelines are pretty colorful places, we were all looking at each other like holy shit hearing how the coaches talked and yelled at players and refs. I've done 10 games and Indiana last year sticks out by a wide margin as the worse. I'd never play for someone like thatwildcats20;1827174 wrote:Kevin Wilson out at Indiana.
