2016 NCAA Tournament Discussion

That was a pretty awful call on Bentil, in my opinion.

    Damnit.

I was worried about uconn. KU played well and took care of them. Hoping for Hawaii over Maryland but doubt that happens. Maryland/KU should be a classic.

unc and Indiana, 2 of the deeper teams, both beat teams where the best 2 players were arguably on the other team.

Well, Indiana and North Carolina will be interesting.

Interesting matchup. I hope Indiana wins on a missed travel followed by 79 foot hook shot that hits off the back of the rim, bounces up, catches front of the rim, hangs there and then falls in.

So you're saying you want my head to explode from an indescribable amount of rage?

Haha. I know. I deserved the comeback, which was quite well played.

ACC with 4 Sweet 16 teams and looking for two more tomorrow. Pretty impressive.

Games should be close tomorrow (well today I guess)...I don't really see any locks....maybe Oregon/St Joe but Pac 12 seems to be a sucking factor
  • Ironman92
    Hoping Iowa over Nova

Oregon is now carrying the PAC12 banner by itself. Pretty poor showing for the conference for 6 of 7 teams to be gone already. St. Joe's has been hot, but I would expect Oregon to handle them.

Agree that all the other games could be very interesting.

Until you realize the best team (i.e. Seed) was 7 Dayton. Which is almost as remarkable of a feat...

I'm not sure what is more hilarious; that Classy STILL hasn't been able to understand the point of the whole MSU/talent argument, despite it being explained to him every way besides color pictures and hand-holding, or that he's still trying to use his poor interpretation of said argument to "score points" despite MSU getting bounced in their first game by fucking Middle Tennessee State in a game they never led for even one damn second.

This about makes up for how my bracket got fucked up hard by that loss, just due to the hilarity.

That's a fair point. I do feel like Miami beating Wichita is a good win though. Carolina and UVA have just had to take care of business, which is something many top teams haven't been able to do. I guess the true test of "strength" will be if the ACC teams can win in the next round.

I guess it's a good win, but it's still just a win over a double digit seeded, play-in team that barely squeeked in the tournament.

Nova is absolutely smashing Iowa, 54-29 at the half. Figured they would win, but didn't quite expect it to happen in this fashion.
  • Ironman92
While the ACC hasn't had a great win in the tourney the other conferences have been upset multiple times. A ton of the bottom seeds have been winning and knocking off the better seeds. Some credit with that.
  • Ironman92
Wasn't expecting Nova to be dominating. They look like a really good tournament type team.

Lulz at the big 12 and Big 10 fans trying to justify their conferences sucking.
  • Ironman92
B1G 6-3 and doing better than most conferences. Iowa not helping.

ACC is 10-0. I think ND is the first loss later on today.

    Who's justifying that?

This conversation happens every year. A conference goes 7-2 through the first week and everyone creams over the conference. The other conferences hover around .500 and everyone says they suck.

Fact is, most conferences have a top team, maybe two. They rise to the elite eight, the other teams lose at some point. If they have good first and second round matchups, that conference will look better than others with not-so-good matchups.

Those facts don't make me change my mind and say that 5 months of a regular season is meaningless and that a conference that was clearly the top (this year the big 12) is now an embarrassment because their 6th best team lost in an 8/9 game.
