Do you think everything is running great with the WR/passing game? See no flaws?SportsAndLady;1817496 wrote:No he's not. He wants urban to completely change how he recruits WR's. Lol -

Alabama, A&M, Oklahoma, Clemson. -

There are flaws but nothing that makes me want to change WR recruiting.Benny The Jet;1817501 wrote:Do you think everything is running great with the WR/passing game? See no flaws?
I think the team is extremely young and talented; and with route running being the 'NFL' skill, it takes time to develop. I'm confident that Urban Meyer will get it figured out. -

I'll take any of OSU's WR over these teams.Benny The Jet;1817502 wrote:Alabama, A&M, Oklahoma, Clemson. -

Thanks for the solid input, appreciate it. However, I'd take Mike Williams, Steven Ridley, and Christian Kirk and Speedy Noil, Reynolds in a hearbeat.sleeper;1817509 wrote:There are flaws but nothing that makes me want to change WR recruiting.

Just for comparison, here are the top 5 receivers for OSU, Bama and aTmBenny The Jet;1817512 wrote:Thanks for the solid input, appreciate it. However, I'd take Mike Williams, Steven Ridley, and Christian Kirk and Speedy Noil, Reynolds in a hearbeat.
OSU
1 C SAMUEL. 403 YARDS
2 D WILSON 232 YARDS
3 N BROWN 213 YARDS
4 M BAUGH 100 YARDS
5 P CAMPBELL 75 YARDS
BAMA (7 games)
1 C RIDLEY 477 YARDS
2 A STEWART 379 YARDS
3 O HOWARD 209 YARDS
4 G DIETER 175 YARDS
5 J JACOBS 85 YARDS
aTm
1 J REYNOLDS 458 YARDS
2 C KIRK 352 YARDS
3 R SEALS-JONES 175 YARDS
4 J TABAYO 149 YARDS
5 S NOIL 116 YARDS
OSU averages 216 passing and 300 rushing. They are 106/167 63.5% throwing and have run 299 times.
Bama averages 258 passing and 274 rushing. They are 133/207 64.3% throwing and have run 298 times.
aTm averages 239 passing and 265 rushing. They are 239/265 53.3% throwing and have run 242 times
If you want to compare offenses, I think it's safe to say we are a run first offense, and sometimes we fall in love with Curtis Samuel (and he is pretty good) and we have inexperienced wide receivers outside on Wilson. Bama and aTm definitely throw the ball more than OSU does so their wide receivers have more opportunity to catch the ball this year.
I wish ESPN tracked targets for college wide receivers like they do pro wide receivers so we could see if it was a lack of catching the ball or a lack of opportunity. -

I think for it really to reflect how the receivers are doing, you would have to know how many times Jt was set up to pass and no one was open so he ran. If he passed every time he was suppose to, the pass/rush would probably be a little closer. It is hard to know for sure of those numbers since we do not have anyway of knowing what play was called in each situation.FatHobbit;1817535 wrote:Just for comparison, here are the top 5 receivers for OSU, Bama and aTm

Good point. Maybe it has something to do with the heavy rotation of WR that there isn't a good connection with 1 specific group of 3 guys. Would like to see something like Brown outside, Samuel in slot who can motion into backfield when needed, and then 1 other (Paris maybe?) get like 80% of the plays...vs. swapping in and out constantly. Heavy rotation could also be due to still looking for the right guy, who knows.mcburg93;1817589 wrote:I think for it really to reflect how the receivers are doing, you would have to know how many times Jt was set up to pass and no one was open so he ran. So after reading that article...it sounds like they're putting most of the miscues and in-completions on the WR, no?FatHobbit;1817600 wrote:This article says JT was pretty good against the badgers

The article did place all the blame on the WRs. I am confident we can win every game up to the Meatchicken game with the way we are playing. I think if we dont get some improvement from the receivers we might have some trouble with ttun.Benny The Jet;1817607 wrote:So after reading that article...it sounds like they're putting most of the miscues and in-completions on the WR, no? -

Agreed. (Cue sleeper's 50 point guarantees against um, Alabama, and Clemson)mcburg93;1817619 wrote:The article did place all the blame on the WRs. Ha ha I did not mean that as a continuation of the receiver debate, I just thought it was interesting. But yes they do put a lot of the blame on the receiversBenny The Jet;1817607 wrote:So after reading that article...it sounds like they're putting most of the miscues and in-completions on the WR, no? -
MulvaCatching a punt is not that difficult god damn.

wildcats20Curtis Samuel has no carries, no catches, and only one target. This offense is straight trash right now.
-
SportsAndLadyTough conditions. But still, horrible first half for the offense.
-
Terry_TateWhy the fuck are they not giving the ball to Curtis Samuel early and often? It's unbelievable
-
Fly4FunWhy is osu trying so hard to force the passing game.
-
Benny The JetVery predictable right now, running routes short of 1st down marker, no separation. Curtis not touching the ball. This isn't real pretty right now
-
mcburg93
I hate when I see any team throw the ball short of the first down. Pisses me off even more when a receiver runs a route short of a first down. Just bad coaching in my opinion. The receivers are still not getting separation. Unreal.Benny The Jet;1817825 wrote:Very predictable right now, running routes short of 1st down marker, no separation. Curtis not touching the ball. wildcats20Hell of a play by Baugh.

wildcats20JT with a Houdini play.

SportsAndLadyBig mistake by UM to call a timeout on that drive. Should have just taken a 12-0 halftime lead
