I'm not worried about any of that with UM as the head coach.Benny The Jet;1816922 wrote:Had a discussion the other day with someone about this...seeing some of the struggles for OSU WR this year (and pretty much last year they were under-utilized) and your a 5* WR (Grimes/Lindsey), are you more or less likely to come to OSU? Either you're thinking "Man, I can come in and play better than most these guys right away" or "Man, these guys aren't getting coached up very well, and aren't calling good plays"?
We win games, period. If you want to win games, come to OSU; if you want to be useless go elsewhere. -

That's a heck of a recruiting pitch you'd have for some 17 year olds.sleeper;1816923 wrote:I'm not worried about any of that with UM as the head coach.

"Wanna win?"
"Yes"
"Then come to OSU"
"Alabama won the title last year"
"Don't worry about facts!"
If you think a 5* is only concerned with winning, and not getting to the next level...you are way off track. Yes it's important, but he also wants to go somewhere where he can be developed and play. -

The last line should read "That will be vacated at some point, do you want your titles vacated?"Benny The Jet;1816950 wrote:That's a heck of a recruiting pitch you'd have for some 17 year olds.

Also didn't Urban send like 13 players to the NFL last year? I think he's fine. -
Benny The Jet
I'm not disagreeing with that...I was asking about how you would look at it as a recruit. Pumped that the WR there now aren't very good, or not thrilled that they don't seem like they're well coached (by WR coach, not Urban).sleeper;1816958 wrote:The last line should read "That will be vacated at some point, do you want your titles vacated?"

Again, pretty incredible we are talking about recruiting on an undefeated team that's probably going to win the national championship while paying up top ranked recruiting classes year in and year out. -

We've had 4 wrs drafted in the last 2 drafts. Who has prepared more for the NFL in that time?Benny The Jet;1816978 wrote:I'm not disagreeing with that...I was asking about how you would look at it as a recruit. AutomatikYeah, we can't develop receivers for the NFL and Burrow should see time.

The Burrow thing is dumb.Automatik;1817375 wrote:Yeah, we can't develop receivers for the NFL and Burrow should see time.
The WR thing is legit...at least to me. Maybe we're just recruiting the wrong types of guys for WR. We're getting a lot of the shifty athletic types, and not many seem to know how to run good routes coming in. Mike Thomas was the exception, not the rule. He ran really good routes, just didn't get the ball enough. Name me a really solid all around WR that we've had since Urban and Smith? Devin Smith ran straight really fast, and went up and got the ball. Not awesome route-runner. Braxton, small sample size...but under-utilized more than anything else. Evan Spencer could block, about it. Corey Brown has developed well.
I know I'm in the minority, but I'd look at trying to get more polished WR that are in HS, vs Athletes who project as WR. It does look like the next class is heading in that direction.
If the WR themselves aren't the problem...and the coaches aren't the problem...then someone tell me why our passing game looks like hot garbage with a Hesiman contender red-shirt JR at QB? Coming into the year..it was "so many weapons!!!!" Now its..."find A weapon" -

Benny The JetGood lord you guys suck at discussion. All in trying to do is have a conversation. This whole site just turns into a "your opinions sucks" and stops there. You're right, 6-0 is awesome. But even Meyer says they need to be better. I'm trying to engage some of you in a convo on how and where to get better.

I completely agree. I heard how our receiving corp was going to be great this year with Noah Brown coming back. I still dont know where our receivers are. We are 6-0 and maybe I should not be so worried. But if we look at last week against Whisky and last year against MSU you can see what happens when teams sell out for the run. We could hardly do anything against those two teams. Hopefully they figure it out and start putting up some great numbers. -
wildcats20Michael Thomas comes to mind.

yea he was great with his 781 yards. What is that 60 yard a game average? Ohh and 9 touchdowns.wildcats20;1817483 wrote:Michael Thomas comes to mind.

Bitching about our WR's is an awful "discussion". No one is going to "engage" you in that conversation because it's a dumb fucking one to have. -

Absolutely. I have complete confidence in UM. He'll figure it out and we'll probably be holding the trophy at the end of the year.Benny The Jet;1817490 wrote:So if Urban addresses it and you think it's fine...it must be fine then huh? -

The receivers need to be better. The defense needs to be better. The RB's need to be better. JT needs to be better.Benny The Jet;1817490 wrote:So if Urban addresses it and you think it's fine...it must be fine then huh?

No he's not. He wants urban to completely change how he recruits WR's. Lolwildcats20;1817494 wrote:The receivers need to be better. The defense needs to be better. The RB's need to be better. JT needs to be better.
