2016 Ohio State Discussion

  The Florida loss was worse because we came into that game with so much hype and talent and then got absolutely dominated.
  
  The loss last night was surprising, but Ohio State is very young in comparison to most of the NCAA and Clemson.

  Exactly---the 2006 team was undefeated, had a Heisman QB, and playing a one loss Florida team who's coach had to lobby for them to even get into the game....pretty much everyone expected the Buckeyes to win that game. This team was predicted to go anywhere from 9-3 to 10-2, and I really don't think anyone saw a CFP berth this year. The loss to Clemson was a kick in the gut--the loss to Florida was a kick in the balls.

  and when they did get separation and were open downfield, JT couldn't throw the ball far enough to get it to them...his accuracy and arm strength are definitely a concern

  The Florida loss was horrendous but it nothing compared to 1995 against scUM. I still have nightmares about Tim Biakabwhatever running over us.

  Really did handle everyone easily. Beat #7, 8, 10, 11 and 21 by double digits but damn TJ Turner from Hillsboro (who OSU overlooked and didn't recruit) made the great play to stop OSU on 4th and 1. He was the most dominating high school player I had ever seen at the time.

  This is one that hurt for me as well. I still have the 313 yards stuck in my head. Ugg.

  Yeah, Saturday sucked mainly because of how they lost -- not being competitive at all offensively to the point where nothing was working. Which really wasn't a shock, except for how it happened for the entire game. This team has has a lot of offensive struggles over the B1G portion of the schedule due to execution, predictable play-calling or whatever. Sure, they outright murdered a few teams, but also had something like 6 straight 3-and-outs vs. Northwestern, a lot of trouble with Michigan State (for very inferior teams) and struggled for much of the game with the three top-tier conference teams they faced, losing to PSU, edging Wisconsin and being outplayed for most of the game against Michigan (with the defense keeping them in it) before waking up offensively down the stretch. Going against a team like Clemson, who you know is going to get points, that is worrisome enough that seems to have taken a lot less time to move from "WTF?!?" to acceptance with this loss.
  
  That Florida game sucked because we all figured we had a huge shot at winning it and they wound up crushed. Much like why that MSU loss from the 90s sucked so bad -- I remember OSU looking like the best team in the country up to that game and, in retrospect, it was a Cooper team that actually beat Michigan and then won a bowl game (Rose) making it a huge shame that they lost to another team.

  No we went to the Sugar Bowl that season and beat Texas A&M

  Correct. I think Heretic got the 1996 season (1997 Rose bowl win) confused. In 1996 we were unbeaten and ended up losing to Michigan in Columbus (even after leading at the half 9-0). Then we ended up beating #2 undefeated Arizona St in the Rose Bowl. Florida ended up champs with 1 loss. Had we beat UM, it would have been OSU.
