Ohio State Recruiting Thread

jpake1If they're a healthy group, they'll be one of the best. People underestimate the importance of having usually 3-4 guys dinged up every week for the last 2 years and guys playing out of position. What happens at your place of work if John and Doug are out and you have to switch people's positions? You won't run like a well oiled machine.
-
jpake1If they're healthy, I believe this will be JT's best oline since he's been there. Hall was very impressive as a backup, and if you bring in some of the big HS boys.. I think you'll see them go to their 2nd string line at times in big games like they did against Texas that one year.
-
devil1197For sure this group will be amazing if healthy but that is a huge if.
They proved how good they could be down the stretch when 100% and if you add guys like Henderson, James, or Moses it just gets better. -
devil1197http://recruiting.scout.com/2/939802.html
Not sure how good these scout guys are or if they are just guessing but I sure hope they aren't.
Henderson is split 50/50 with OSU and FL being the picks.
Hicks and Bryant are both going to OSU.
Anyone actually know the Scout site and these guys? Are they just guessing or do they have some information.
Bill Greene from Scout predicts OSU lands Henderson, Bryant, James, and Brown. They lose out on Hicks, Moses, and Green. -
rocket31yeah thats already been posted...in this thread...

Cool story bro.rocket31 wrote: yeah thats already been posted...in this thread...
OSU is looking like it will end up with a pretty good class for how small it will be. -
rocket31
its kelly, for starters. secondly, thats how recruiting works. lastly, massa has more potential than any other QB in our class.devil1197 wrote:
Cool story bro.
Shady move by Kelley to try his hardest to get James.
He offers Luke Massa late in the recruiting process. Who is Massa, no other than St. X QB lol.
Kelley is trying everything to get James, even offering a QB that they don't even need. -
devil1197Does ND even need Massa, they have plenty of depth. He is getting an offer just so James will come to ND.
You have two QB's already combined with how many QB's on the current roster? -
rocket31
both osu and notre dame could end up in the top ten with an outside chance of grabbing top 5...depending on where henderson goes.devil1197 wrote:

rocket31
james was going to come to nd regardless, massa was just the icing on the cake.devil1197 wrote: How recruiting works lol?

nd doesnt *need* massa but i like him more than the other two QB offers we made this year...so i am happy with the decision. -
devil1197James to ND all along? I have him to ND also but I think it is/was closer than you think.
Nah, I think ND and Kelly needed to offer Massa to sway James. There is no need for another QB taking up a scholarship for ND and you know it, especially when you already have a 3 and 4 star QB's committed. -
rocket31
i believe so. all signs pointed to him being a strong ND lean...devil1197 wrote: James to ND all along?

and you are right there is no need to bring in 3 Qbs with this class, however, id rather drop tommy rees and keep massa.
1a. hendrix
1b. massa
3. rees -
devil1197So your opinion is that you like Massa, which is fine.
But the truth is that ND offered a player that they didn't need just to sway James more to ND.
I know I wouldn't waste a scholarship on a position where I already have two committed and only one plays during the games. ND needs a lot more help at other positions outside of bringing in 3 QB's. -
rocket31
we *need* the best possible player, so essentially we do *need* massa.devil1197 wrote: So your opinion is that you like Massa, which is fine.

for whatever reason i do not believe kelly is too high on hendrix. anyways, i am assuming one of these guys will transfer next season and open up a scholly...which is fine.
regardless, this practice which you term "shady" happens quite often.
how do you think notre dame landed manti teo last season? -
devil1197I just think its funny that James is such a strong ND lean but yet they have to offer his HS QB when they already have an abundance of QB's. I know shady stuff happens all the time but it usually doesn't happen when the player in question is a strong lean.
I am pretty sure that scholarship could be used on that thing called a defense at ND! -
rocket31kelly has always liked massa more than hendrix, i dont know what you want me to tell ya. originally at UC, kelly offerred a scholarship to massa before he did to hendrix... that speaks volumes.
additionally, kelly was upset that hendrix went to visit florida after he had already committed to notre dame.
and yes, the defense needs upgraded. we were young last year but we have brought in some nice recruits, we should turn things around. -
QuintHow did this turn into a Notre Dame Recruiting Thread!?
-
rocket31in case anyone is interested, here is a projection as to where the classes will finish after NSD.
notre dame #6
ohio state #16

QuintI started a thread for you. . . no offense but I'm not as interested in the Notre Dame recruits. . .except for Henderson and James hahaha

First, OSU is #14 not #16 on that list.
That is how the classes stack up right now and it will be altered as the process goes on. Unless that site truly believes that OSU is going to strike out on all the remaining prospects ending with 16 commits.
They have Rod Smith and Corey Brown as a nice combo in the backfield, didn't know Brown was going to play RB. Smith as an early impact player, I highly doubt he sees any playing time to qualify as making an impact. He'll have to beat out Herron/Saine/Berry/Hall/Hyde just to name a few.
That article sucks. -
rocket31
no, it is a projection on where they will finishdevil1197 wrote:

devil1197With roughly two weeks remaining until National Signing Day, MaxPreps breaks down the nation's top 20 recruiting classes as they stand right now.
No its how they stand now. They will update that list as the process ends.
I guarantee Norwell won't be OSU's biggest grab, Smith won't be the early impact player, and OSU won't end with 16 commits. Because even if Hicks, James, Henderson, Bryant, and Moses go somewhere else guys like Brown will commit to OSU pushing the total past 16. So its how the recruits stand now. -
rocket31like i said, this is the projection as to where they will finish after NSD, unless things change...
i think we are both right,
