College Basketball Random Chatter 2015-2016 Season

Azubuike24It's weird. You watch St. Mary's play and wonder how the hell they have such a good record.
-
SpockWell my alma mater- Wright State- will not be making an apearance
-
friendfromlowryGonzaga finds a way. They'll be dangerous in the tournament I think. Got a few really talented guys and Mark Few has been there a ton.
-
ironman02St. Mary's, Monmouth, and maybe even Valpo are now on the bubble. Definitely will be interesting to see if any of them get in.
-
Laley23I do not want to see any of those as a 14 facing Indiana.
-
Terry_TateReally hope some of those teams get in over the 5th Big Ten team or the 6th Big 12 team. It's nice to see the best mid majors in over the middle of the road high major teams.

Azubuike24St. Mary's, MAYBE because they beat Gonzaga twice, who is 26th in KenPom, and 3 of their 5 losses were quality (Cal, BYU, Gonzaga). However, despite them being 27-5, they literally have nothing of substance.
Monmouth, no, hell no. One of the biggest jokes of an at-large team being debated in recent memory. People want the bench mob in the NCAA's, I get that, but they are absolutely undeserving. 3 losses to 200+ teams. We would eliminate any big school for losses like that.
Valparaiso, probably the best team of the three, simply has no resume either outside of a win over Oregon State. 5 losses to teams outside the top 100 really hurts, the only saving grace being they beat Iona by 25 (the team that Monmouth lost to twice in the final 3 weeks of the season).
Palm and Lunardi have all 3 out. -

I just used those spots as examples. Just saying I would rather see Valpo or St. Mary's in over Team X that is 20-12 and went around .500 in their conference.slingshot4ever;1785251 wrote:Over Iowa and Iowa St, really? -

Lunardi actually has St. Mary's and Monmouth as two of his "Last Four In", but Valpo as one of the "Last Four Out".Azubuike24;1785256 wrote: Palm and Lunardi have all 3 out.

Personally, I don't really think any of them should be in, but I still wouldn't mind seeing them get a shot. -
Azubuike24There's gotta be some predicting of what the committee will do with Lunardi. Compare Monmouth to Oregon State and there's no comparison.
-
IliketurtlesI'm with Azu there is no way Monmouth should be in. Yeah the bench mob is great but they just don't deserve it. I think St. Mary's and Valpo should get in though.

With Crean as my coach, neither would ILaley23;1785248 wrote:I do not want to see any of those as a 14 facing Indiana. -

Coached an amazing year this season. Hopefully he has learned from his past shortcomings...it seems as though he has based on the way he did things this year.vball10set;1785355 wrote:With Crean as my coach, neither would I -
wildcats20Have to believe the very slim chances of Syracuse making it went out the door today with their loss to Pitt.
-
Azubuike24Normally I'm rough on IU, but outside of the Sweet 16 game vs Syracuse where a very good IU team looked absolutely lost on offense, it's hard to blame Crean's coaching. If anything, the blame should be the rosters he put out there and not what he's done with the actual teams. I think most IU fans would agree, that and the off-the-court crap.
-
reclegend22Syracuse should be out. Even after losing a baker's dozen, Boeheim will find the spurning a terrible injustice. Even he has to hate himself.
-
friendfromlowryThis Duke team has first round loss to a 12 seed written all over it.

They were 4-5 during his suspension. That'll be his excuse.reclegend22;1785405 wrote:Syracuse should be out. Even after losing a baker's dozen, Boeheim will find the spurning a terrible injustice. Even he has to hate himself. -
wildcats2015-8 with him isn't exactly great.
-
ironman02
Completey agree. But the 4-5 during his absense will still be something that he whines about when they're left out. lolwildcats20;1785411 wrote:15-8 with him isn't exactly great. -
Azubuike24The loss that killed Cuse were the home losses to Pittsburgh and Clemson. If those don't indicate where you stand on the bubble in your own league, nothing else does. The only thing going for them is 5 top 50 wins.

Laley23I've now watched NCST about 10 times this year. They are not bad at all. Gottfried has to be the worst coach in America for not being able to get this team higher than 12th in ACC.

I don't know if I 100% agree. He has had some flawed rosters until this year, no question. But he also was a bad coach in game. He would take player out that were hot, had no sub patterns, no lineup continuity, etc etc. His offense never looked inside, even with Zeller. He tired them out with his set proclaimed "tough practices" (which he abandoned after last years collapse).Azubuike24;1785398 wrote:Normally I'm rough on IU, but outside of the Sweet 16 game vs Syracuse where a very good IU team looked absolutely lost on offense, it's hard to blame Crean's coaching. He he has definitely changed his ways on a LOT of his flaws, and I commend him for that as he seems to be learning. He has set rotations, leaves in hot players and all in all has been fantastic with his rotations this season. He still is lacking in certain areas, which can be corrected. The biggest ones were the things I listed and those seem to be gone. -

He should really consider increasing his presence on CareerBuilder.Laley23;1785417 wrote:I've now watched NCST about 10 times this year. They are not bad at all. Gottfried has to be the worst coach in America for not being able to get this team higher than 12th in ACC.
