  There is no place in the playoff for anyone who doesn't win a conference or at least appear in a conference championship game. It is just the way it is at this point.

  I agree. IMHO with only 4 spots there is no reason to give a slot to a non conference champ. (Or a highly ranked, and possibly undefeated, team that isn't in a conference) I don't even believe being in a conference championship game should be enough
