The rule is three yards downfield until the ball crosses the LOS, I rarely see linemen downfield and it not called.

Interesting he pointed out empty seats at conference bowl games, except the sec. Which isn't true. Also tcu's bowl game wasn't a sell out.
  • Midstate01
Attendance was 65,706, ending the Peach Bowl's streak of 17 consecutive sellouts.

I hope TCU finishes 7th the first year of this.
I don't like the Byes. Go with 8. Also don't have a problem with TCU. I think they handled being left out with class. Briles and Baylor on the other hand...they can go fuck themselves.

I don't like 8 at all, and I don't particularly like auto bids for the power 5 champs in a 6 team system. OOC are already bad, auto bids would make them a complete joke. The more I think about it, the more I feel like four is fine, but would be ok with 6.

Elite teams will start ignoring lesser bowls if they don't make the playoffs. No way OK should have gone to the Beef OBrady bowl. They were done before they left Norman. The non- New Year's Day bowls will be filled with MaC, Conf USA, ACC etc teams

There was at least one poster who thought OSU should have sat out last year because "they weren't ready". Lol

8 does almost seem like too much. The more I think of it, I am good with 4 for the foreseeable future. (see what I did there...). I dont know, if there are auto bids though if you win your conference that 'could' beef up the OOC schedule knowing an early season OOC loss wont hurt you. A 4 team playoff you need to have more of a balancing act. A zero loss team in any of the big conferences will get you into the final 4.

Yeah I was the only person on the OC who thought OSU would lose to Wisky...at least I have the balls to admit I was wrong but the loyalty to thoroughly enjoy the greatest run in college football history. And my hundreds of great photos on my phone from the Sugar Bowl which I attended in all its glory.

I really think they should get rid of the 12 team requirement to have a Conference Championship Game. They should either do away with a required number or make the number 10. Let the conferences decide if/how much money to spend on a game. If the Big XII wants one; let them have one, so we don't have this co-champ crap.
  • lhslep134
The Big 12 could have done something about it before last season by filing a waiver. Instead, Bowlsby got arrogant and thought their 9 game round robin would be enough, completely ignoring the possibility of what actually happened: co-champs batting another conference's champs for the 4th spot.

In their defense, a 10-team conference that plays a 9-game schedule is about as "true" of a champion as it gets. I see both sides. They claim you don't need a CG, which I agree with their setup. However, it's not practical considering every other league has 12 or more teams, eliminating the ability to determine a true champ on the field.

Bottom line, if the Big XII wants to not be screwed over, they need to conform, add a few more teams and bring back the CG. Until then, barring their top 2 teams happen to be scheduled the last week of the regular season, they will be overlooked in playoff consideration.

Only if they award the tiebreaker to the head-to-head winner. Which they didn't do

I say they request a rules change to allow 10 team leagues to have CGs instead of getting 2 teams to join them. What 2 teams could they get that are either A) Quality enough or B) Willing to leave their current conference? I really think Missouri should go back to the Big XII and try to bring Arkansas with them. aTm could go back, but I don't think they will because they've been pretty competitive thus far in the SEC.

Yes, I'm saying they should do that now because it would be easier than trying to get 2 teams to join the conference at this point.

TCU and Baylor can cry all they want. There's no one left in the country that cares about them besides TCU and Baylor. The reality is these teams would have get shit stomped against the Buckeyes.

    Agreed

Watched Sparty come back and shock Baylor with 500 Buckeye fans in a New Orleans hotel bar...was almost as exciting as kicking Bama in the nutz. Watching Briles crying after the game was maybe the highlight of the CFB season for me. As Sleeper said, the OSU victory made the Playoff Committeee look like Einsteins.
  • lhslep134
You're still compelled to lie about being in New Orleans? Why do you still bring it up? Everyone on this site who has been paying attention knows you weren't there.

Don't worry, I know the answer: it's because you're a pathological liar, an alcoholic, and a racist deadbeat.

    OK even I chuckled...

...and Bryan Williams did sit next to me on the 50 at the Sugar Bowl. Too bad I'm not going to post the pics of me and Bryan lifting Urban Meyer on our shoulders and carrying him into the lockeroom. It's an awesome pic but none of you will ever see it.
