National Semifinal Sugar Bowl OSU vs Alabama

I also felt confident of an OSU win. Get to the dance floor and you never know. That game was like a heavy weight boxing match with the participants slugging it out to the end.

I know the 'usual suspects' were confident OSU was going to win but they could be playing the packers and expect OSU to shut them out.
I think much of my thought was that bama wasnt as good as everyone thought. It wasnt like this was a bowl game where to conferences had tie ins and it was a mismatch so I was surprised when reading stuff afterwards that much of the nation thought it was a hude upset.

People bought into the narrative that the SEC was some super conference for college football (especially the SEC West).

Now I won't deny that they had a lot of wins, but they were also in favorable scenarios during a lot of the bowl games (read home games vs. true neutral sites).

The SEC is a deep conference, but their best was never far and away better than any other conferences best.

The SEC isn't a deep conference and Alabama isn't world beaters.

    Sorry ESPN.

Had an Alabama fan come up to me and tell me today that "I don't think Ohio State is that good, I just think Alabama wasn't as good this year. This is Alabama's worst team since Saban took over and the Buckeyes are lucky to get them now rather than in the past". Obviously not verbatim but close.

    LOL SEC FANS BUTTHURT.

He was half true, about bama not being as good this year. but the bucks.....are pretty damned good.

I said something like "That makes sense from your perspective." He's a potential client so I had to be nice(I carry around an OSU lanyard so that's why he brought it up). It doesn't surprise me, people from SEC country are in shambles right now.

Nothing he said was true and past years are irrelevant. Here's the reality, THE Ohio State University absolutely shredded your precious SEC Defense and the other OVERRATED schools in your 'NFL Lite' division got CLOWNSTOMPED this bowl season.

I hope we get the SEC champion next year too when we make the CFP so we can beat the hell out of them too.

Agreed past years dont matter, but what I do agree with is that Alabama wasnt as good as they were in the past, and that was the reason why I thought OSU was gonna win.

I thought OSU was going to win because this team is the best team in the country. Alabama would finish 5th in the B1G.

Doesnt that cover the "I'm Lovin' It" logo....

    I kid, I kid.

Surprised you want Jones over Barrett. JT just put up one of the best seasons ever at OSU, and if he was the starter going into the season, with the publicity machine of OSU and the pre season hype that Miller was getting for the Heisman I think he gets an invite to NY and finishes behind Mariota for the award.

I would have responded with, "well, this was a down year for us too. Our target years are '15 and '16. Don't forget, Virginia Tech did something you guys couldn't"

I'm very impressed with Jones. Has the physical tools too.

SEC fans don't deal well with reality.

I like them both and Braxton. However, Cardale Jones to mean has the 'clutch' factor and he's only going to get better. I think you see his inexperience showing big time but that is the easiest part to correct. If he leaves, I will be sad :(

Really, Cardale Jones has an opportunity to win 3 national titles in a row and be the best QB in OSU history.

I know what he was thinking....Bama would crash the line for a run and it should be open. They needed a heavy play action on that play and tell the QB to throw if he was open, run if he wasnt.

    but yeah..it coulda been disaster.
  • Footwedge

But...but...but...they stacked the line...LMAO. Urban blew it....he owned up to it...good for him. Those that defend that nonsense...they can knock themselves out. Again. I'm one that absolutely can't stand people sitting on a precrious lead with even 4 minutes left. Boils my skin. But there is a time and a place where clock management needs to be heeded. Coaches preach to the running backs to stay in bounds in that type of situation. Urban ran out of bounds with the ball.
  • Fly4Fun
I was out watching this at a bar and you could tell all the OSU fans were well trained by JT. We all were dumbfounded by the pass and were expecting 3 straight runs to run the clock.

I'm with others that you can't sit on a lead early or even halfway through the 4th. But with under 2 to go, on 1st down and opposing team only has 2 time outs... you have to run 3 times. You just have to.
