MARCH MADNESS 2014 - NCAA Tourney Thread

I realize Cal poly blows but the shockers are making sure there is no doubt.

I hope the Shockers slam that region. I admit I was skeptical, but I am really rooting for the Shockers (until it comes time for them to lose in my bracket in round two). Lol.

Wichita and Creighton in the national semis would be pretty special, given the long-time conference rivals didn't get a chance to face off this season with the Jays now in the Big East. This could have been a grand year for the Missouri Valley...

Wichita st is definitely disrespected. They play with that chip on their shoulder. I can definitely see them laying a smack down in ksu or Kentucky next round as well. Baker and early are a very good duo.

I agree....still sounds funny to say a #1 seed is being disrespected

That region is going to win me my pool...and I have Wichita losing to UK :)

    TERRIBLE T on Memphis there.

Same here. I wanted to put UK in the Final Four out of that region -- mainly based on how they handled Louisville early in the year -- but they were too inexperienced and erratic for my liking. So I decided to pick another inexperienced and erratic team to advance to the Final Four instead.

    NCAA Wins:

    Scott Drew, 7
    Josh Pastner, 1
    Travis Ford, 1

Who's a terrible coach? Well, all of them, but there is some perspective. I'll basically give Drew a pass for his first 3 or 4 years at Baylor. After that, it's all about the same. Pastner basically took over a gold mine and has done absolutely nothing. It's becoming quite clear that Ford has no clue either.

I always laughed at poeple saying Wihcita was gonna lose to Cal Poly. WSU was in the damn final four last year and went undefeated this year. They're basically a lock for the elite 8. Very, very good team.

I agree with this. Louisville could give them trouble though. I still think Wichita st is better though

Also it's not like they went undefeated by barely winning games. They pretty much blew out everyone

This year's Louisville team (and the foul rules) will make it much tougher for UL to eliminate Wichita. Honestly, it sounds crazy, but the team in the bracket who COULD give them the most trouble moving forward is Kentucky or Tennessee. However, given how sound the Shockers are, they aren't going to commit mistakes and beat themselves. It will take a team who is a dominant one on the glass and with defense to really give them fits and knock them out. I think Michigan could beat them, but a lesser chance. I don't think UL can.

With that said, UL or Michigan would be a tough game for either UK or UT, because of that experience. I just don't have confidence in those teams executing on a consistent basis, where you know UM and UL will.

Except beating UK and Louisville to get to the Elite 8 is about as tough as the committee could have made it on them.

I went with UK because I expected a lot of people to have Wichita deep, which in terms of winning my pool makes picking them practically worthless to me.

    I have Kentucky beating them.

Lol such a terrible foul called on GW... might be the worst one I've seen today and there have been plenty.

They're a lot better than Kentucky. And they should beat Louisville. Louisville won't rat a title this year with refs actually calling fouls.
