High school boys has plenty of athleticism.....thavoice;1603090 wrote:Yeah....very fundamentally sound!
It really is like watching a HS boys game. Just very little athleticism going on and seems in slow motion.
Women can't jump....can't create on their own. -
reclegend222002 Cincinnati Winton Woods would've beaten the 1998 Houston Comets by 100 points.
Robert Hite could levitate. -

Yeah, probably not 100, but Robert Hite, DeForrest Rily and C.J. Anderson were a filthy trio. By far the most exciting and high-flying high school basketball team I've ever seen. They put on a 32-minute cirque du soleil show down at state in '02.robj55;1603327 wrote:No way -
Ironman92Katie Smith was the only girl I've ever seen jump like a guy of her height.....and at 5'11 is was fucking impressive in high school watching her look (ha ha) like a boy playing against girls. She could elevate and shoot a "guy's" jump shot and drive and finish at the basket the same. She was an athletic freak but also similar athletic abilities of a very good 5'11 white guy.
Most every other female player is a 5'9-6'3 girl that cannot elevate and shoot and has a 10-16 inch vertical which just spells out boring as fuck unless they are 16-20 shooting 3's or something. -

I remember that team. I played on a pretty good high school team and we would have probably gotten rolled by a professional girls team.reclegend22;1603338 wrote:Yeah, probably not 100, but Robert Hite, DeForrest Rily and C.J. I don't know. There's no doubt in my mind, though, that a team like Akron St. Vincent St. Mary with LeBron and Romeo Travis would've rolled this year's UConn women's team. That Comets team with Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson was pretty good, so maybe they could've held their own.robj55;1603346 wrote:I remember that team. Well Lebron's high school team was the best in the nation lol I'm just talking about a good high school team.reclegend22;1603355 wrote:I don't know. KB0938A good HS team would beat a Womens professional team, no doubt in my mind at all. Im not talking about a small D3, or whatever, but a good caliber D1 HS with some height and decent guards would handle a womens professional team without much of a question IMO. The gap between men and women after puberty is just too much

No doubt. I'm about 99% sure I could take the best 5 from my weekly pickup game and beat a professional women's team.KB0938;1603436 wrote:A good HS team would beat a Womens professional team, no doubt in my mind at all. Depending on the Caliber of player he plays with....I honestly wouldnt be shocked. If theres Ex college players and hes in his mid 20's or so( I have no idea how old sleeper is) I wouldnt doubt it. I could probably pick 5 of the guys I play with, put them on the court and theyd stomp a womens pro team. Granted 1 of them Id pick is playing professionally overseas and 1 started the 2nd half of the season or so for Southern Miss.vball10set;1603545 wrote:lol -

I honestly don't know. Depends on what you define as a good HS team. My team had size, guards, shooting, and I still think we would have lost by a decent margin.KB0938;1603436 wrote:A good HS team would beat a Womens professional team, no doubt in my mind at all. I know who your team was....and theres absolutely no way you guys would of lost to a womens pro team lolrobj55;1603557 wrote:I honestly don't know. Depends on what you define as a good HS team. My team had size, guards, shooting, and I still think we would have lost by a decent margin. -

My post was directed solely at sleeper, period. There's no doubt that putting together a team of 20-something athletes that can ball would prolly beat some WNBA teams, but we're talking sleeper hereKB0938;1603554 wrote:Depending on the Caliber of player he plays with....I honestly wouldnt be shocked. I don't know, I'm not that confident about it. I think you're selling them short, we're talking about professionals here. Their bball IQ and fundamentals alone would make up for a lot.KB0938;1603559 wrote:I know who your team was....and theres absolutely no way you guys would of lost to a womens pro team lol -

I agree. I think everyone in this thread is selling them short. Obviously they aren't the level of the equivalent level of men's game, but to think high school teams could beat them is pretty short sighted.robj55;1603572 wrote:I don't know, I'm not that confident about it. Azubuike24Size and athleticism would be the big factor.
Team A with a ton of size may not necessarily be able to always beat Team B (who has less athleticism but shoots better and is better coached), but may fair better against said women's team than Team B.
I've known a few guys who have played with Katie Smith before and they said basically anyone on the court (in a pretty legit rec/pickup game) could check her, stay with her and had an advantage in one-on-one situations, but it's not like she couldn't handle the ball, control the game and score if you give her room to shoot or drive.
With that said, put her on someone who is equally strong and the same size, she would have a skill advantage 9 times out of 10. -
robj55
Yeah the size and athleticism would be the only difference, but skill level the girls would be better. Also take into account that if you take just 5 random guys who have no chemistry and they play an actual TEAM who understands spacing, floor balance, moves well without the ball and sets screens and just doesn't okay one on one the whole game that is going to make a huge difference.Azubuike24;1603615 wrote:Size and athleticism would be the big factor.

reclegend22Agreed that it definitely depends on the group of guys. Saying that any collection of YMCA stars could beat a WNBA team is likely selling the professional women short.
A high school team like this, however, would IMO win quite handedly over the Cynthia Cooper-led Houston Comets or the Lisa Leslie-led Los Angeles Sparks.
That's a photo of the 1998 Lakewood St. Ed's team featuring Sam Clancy (Southern Cal), Steve Logan (Cincinnati), Jawad Williams (North Carolina) and Steve Lepore (Wake Forest)
I'd also put that Winton Woods team in that category as well. -
Laley23I had a former WNBA champion coach my sister in HS. She sucked. I mean, absolutely terrible. She was considered a 4, and was like 5'10. Couldnt shoot, couldnt dribble well. She wasnt a star by any means, but played in the rotation for the Detroit team that won the title. I forget her name, but she was not good. No doubt most teams who make it to states in HS are beating a WNBA team.

robj55
Well yeah obviously a team as stacked as that is going to win handily most likely. Also a team like the 02 Brookhaven team that had like 7 or 8 D1 prospects on it. We were talking about a normal above average high school team. One that has a few d2 prospects and quite a few d3 ones, I would say is the norm for a pretty good high school team. That game would be very competitive.reclegend22;1603649 wrote:Agreed that it definitely depends on the group of guys. Theyre just not physically able to keep up lol, the gap is SO big between men and women. Shit, I would of qualified for the olympics in track in HS , and didnt even make it to statesrobj55;1603572 wrote:I don't know, I'm not that confident about it. Obviously its never going to happen, but a top level HS team IMO would have little issue with a womens pro team, kinda pointless to argue something thats not going to take place i suppose -
robj55
It depends on what your definition of a top level HS team is, are we talking about a really good HS team or a great HS team like Lebron's ASVM team. Women or not those girls are professionals, they can shoot, handle, play D, understand offenses and defenses at the highest level and have high IQ's when it comes to the game. The athleticism gap is pretty big but intangibles and fundamentals can make up for a lot. A lot of HS kids have no idea how to really play the game the proper way and their fundamentals are lacking big time.KB0938;1603716 wrote:Theyre just not physically able to keep up lol, the gap is SO big between men and women.
