centralbucksfanYou people calling for Kenny G are beyond ridiculous! The kid is a quality backup QB. He did well against SHIT teams. He never proved himself against any quality team over 4yrs to make this even a remotely competitive conversation. Its actually quite comical watching everyone blame Fickel, Miller, or whomever for this loss. The loss is on the team. And as has been mentioned, the MAIN issue with this team, the weakness, is on DEFENSE. Is it youth? Is it coaching? Is it the defensive philosophy? Is it lack of depth? Well, its probably a combination of all of them. I am confident Meyer will address these in the off season.

like_thatAnyone remember when LJ gave S&L shit, because S&L was being very critical of OSU's defense after the Illinois game?

Really? You missed see the sarcasm? Buckeye fans are some of the most overly-sensitive and defensive fans in college football.centralbucksfan;1550172 wrote:You people calling for Kenny G are beyond ridiculous! That was a big play ,no doubt. And I would have liked to have seen Hyde get the ball more as well. But when you are down 17...the game plan obviously changes. When you play from behind most of game, late in game...that takes a player like Hyde out of the game.Tiernan;1550115 wrote:Long long day and night over and back and then I open the Cols Dogpatch and can't find one fkn mention of the key 4th & 1 call or any conjecture of why someone decided to make the no. 1 RB in the league (nation?) into a WR and blocking FB for 3 Qtrs?!? Not only did our secondary get exposed last night but so did Urbie. MSU is a great defense but Hyde consistently was getting 4 - 6 yds every time he touched the ball. And the OSU brain trust decides to only give it to him 18 times? WTF!?! This one is on Meyer in my book.
Secondary has been getting exposed all season long. We also didn't get consistent pressure on the QB. And gave up our usual 1/2 big plays as well. -

The Buckeyes were down 3 at the time of the 4th down play call. Being down 3 with what...5 something left doesn't take a player out of the game. Meyer and Herman (genius my ass) had plenty of time to get Hyde involved more. Let's not forget we were leading 24-17 before the offense going cold and letting MSU score 17 straight points for the second time in the game.centralbucksfan;1550177 wrote:That was a big play ,no doubt. Not on 3rd and 3 and 4th and 1 with just a few minutes to go in the game. Those 2 bonehead play calls made the difference despite the ineptitude of the OSU defensive secondary.centralbucksfan;1550177 wrote:When you play from behind most of game, late in game...that takes a player like Hyde out of the game.
Hyde was averaging over 6 yards a carry at that point. Dumbest calls made by the Meyer coaching staff all season. -

I was talking about him not getting more than 18 carries numbnuts. Not defending that play. I didn't like it either. But again, offense wasn't, isnt' an issue. Score 24 against MSU, and their sub par offense...OSU should have won the game.Pick6;1550179 wrote:The Buckeyes were down 3 at the time of the 4th down play call. AutomatikThe playcalling was suspect, but I put minimal blame on the offense.
Watching Conner Cook look like an all American was the worst. -
sleeperWell MSU played a great game. It just goes to show you how tough the B1G is in general and that MSU is probably the best team in the country.
As far as OSU goes, the defense is atrocious and everyone that runs the defense should be fired immediately(even if they know what the viper position is). The offensive call to run Braxton was also a terrible idea; GIVE IT TO MUTHA FUCKING HYDE. I don't care if MSU puts 11 guys in the box and Carlos runs right at him, he will get the 1st down.
Anyways, Ohio State will still go to a BCS bowl and we better win it. I think MSU beats the fuck out of Stanford and the B1G has a winning record this year in bowl games. -
believerBoneheaded play calling late in the game and a swiss cheez defensive secondary pretty much sums it up.

Exactly. I find it comical for anyone to blame this offense. They didn't throw the ball particularly well. But rushed for close to 300yds on the game against a very good defense. Who woulda guessed that many rushing yards? IF someone told me that before the game, I would say OSU wins going away. As suspect as our defense has been, I never imagined them giving up 34 pts to MSU and for Cook to throw for 300 yds. Not unless OSU turned the ball over. Which they didn't.Automatik;1550186 wrote:The playcalling was suspect, but I put minimal blame on the offense.

TiernanWe KNEW our Defense was weak and Meyer knows it too so the Offense had to win the game and we were in position to win the game at the moment of the horrible 4th & 1 call. That call pure and simple was coaches trying to get too cute and make a call they thought the guys on the other sideline would never suspect. Everyone in that fkn stadium and the millions watching on TV thought Hyde would get the ball (aaaaand he should have) but Meyer in his desire to look like a genius screwed the pooch. First by not playing Hall and secondly for this bonehead mistake.

And Meyer took full responsibility for that call....Tiernan;1550234 wrote:We KNEW our Defense was weak and Meyer knows it too so the Offense had to win the game and we were in position to win the game at the moment of the horrible 4th & 1 call. BTW, if Heuerman does his job on the block...this is not even a discussion. He wiffed and was beaten badly. Good call, bad call...players have to execute as well. -
TiernanWhether he took responsibility is a moot point...because as the HC he is responsible! And I maintain he was trying to outsmart Dantonio instead of going for the almost sure thing. I hope to hell is does "haunt" you Urbie because you lost the game right there.
