Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

  • The Answer
Ohio st is terrible in the half court offensively so this matchup might help them if they can take care of the ball. I feel OSU is a pretty lazy team though so I can see this being like that Sienna game where they just out worked us all game, especially on the boards, and eventually won out. Either way I can't see OSU getting passed arizona if they did win but would be nice to have the chance at least.

Well, Virginia is exceptional on defense. But I believe I read wehre VCU only shoots 42% from the field for the season, 34% from three. They shoot quite a few threes obviously with their style. So they really are not a great shooting team. They live off of their pressure creating turnovers and other team taking quick shots, transition. So if OSU doesn't turn it over, rebounds and takes some good shots, I feel they could be ok. Of course, all three of those are "if" with this team. Just never know what you are going to get from them.

My confidence with this team is close to nil. Even if they do win, I expect a beating from Zona.

It just may be time for OSU to move on from Matta. Players aren't developing, at all.

To who? I've been saying for years(and getting shit on this board) that he doesn't develop players. But who can you get that's going to be better? Multiple final fours and one of the best recruiters in the country.

Matta put OSU on the map. Agreed that he doesn't develop players.

This officiating is bullshit. VCU getting all calls on bumps and OSU gets nothing when same thing happens.

what a bullshit charge....was that guy even outside the circle?
  • Azubuike24
Then they call that a block???

No offense, but that's bullshit. And its bullshit acorss the board. OSU/Matta does what any other coach in the country does in the offseason. How much time and effort the player puts in, is on them. But I can go back to Turner, Conley, J. Foster, Sylvester, and others like Sullinger and even Oden. And now Russell. Yes, didn't have them long. But he has put these guys in position to do what they have done and certainly that's part of developing a player. But if Cal gets all the credit for what he does with one and done players, Matta should too. Yes, this senior class didn't develop. But I just think these guys were overhyped coming out of HS. Coaches only get so much time with these guys in the offseason.

Yeah these refs have been pretty bad in this second half if I'm being honest.
  • centralbucksfan
This could be the game if Russell can't return....

    Flagrant 1?

And Cal, as much talent as he gets, has had 3 or 4 non-5-star players get to the NBA and he's had six 5-star recruits stay more than 1 year.
  • Automatik
    Got this one right.
  • Azubuike24
Right call. You see really cheap elbow swings (and flops) called on the perimeter all the time.

    Make free throws!

How many have stuck around or made any impact though? Some guys make it to the league on reputation from a program.

Turner wasn't a 4/5 star. Went on to become national player of the year. And NO ONE would have had Conley going in top NBA 5 after 1 yr.

    Yes he was.

I thought ET was a three star, could be wrong.
