This. Bates-Diop is much more athletic, active and doesn't appear to be dumb as a stump ala Amir Williams. I know that Bates-Diop is not a '5' and is a freshman, but I'd give up 4" in height for the athleticism and basketball sense...especially given that he is pretty 'long' in wingspan.

I'd give a walk on more time at the expense of Amir at this point! I am with you as far as Bates-Diop. But I could even live with McDonald playing more. At least he is active, rebounds, plays aggressive and with effort. He isn't very good, and would probably foul out. But I at least appreciate his energy. Something this team lacks.

Have been saying for awhile KBD should be playing a lot more then he was. Really hope that happens and Amir goes back to the bench.

Starters outside of Russell go 13/14 in the first half and 4/4 from deep.

At this rate, Nebraska will never be allowed back into their facilities.

Nebraska is just really bad right now. Half couft offense was just aweful. No balance or spacing on the floor. They didn't look comfortable at all. Defensive breakdowns left and right. Not sure there was any positive for them at all.

That being said, it was good to see OSU come out and play with some energy, sense of urgency. Wish this would happen on a more consistant basis! No change in the line up although Amir didnt' stay in too long. Who starts is really overrated anyways. Hopefully this gives OSU a little confidence heading down the home stretch. The Purdue game Sunday nite is a big game. With MSU loss last nite, OSU is a game out of 4th place which would give them two byes in Big Ten.

And I think last nite is a reason he hasn't been playing more consistantly. He was completely out of it mentally last nite. As soon as he stepped on the floor, he fouled someone. The kid has huge upside. Just needs to learn to keep his head in the game at all times.

Jae'Sean Tate might end up being my favorite player ever in the Scarlet and Gray. Dude plays so hard and fearlessly, he's going to be a lot of fun to watch for the next 3+ seasons.

I agree. You can't help but like this kid. I saw him in HS and thought the same thing. Although I wasn't sure he could contribute this year. 4yr player and only going to get better.

Yeah, he's a highlight virtually every game just because he's all over the place and seems to play a lot bigger than 6'4".

Not sure how many of you remember former OSU player Jerry Francis (actually Tate's HS coach!). But Tate reminds me of Francis. Undersized, not great perimeter player, both strong , good around the basket and both played extremely hard, just a blue collar type of players.

Good win for tOSU because some players not named Russell contributed. It was a good time to play a team that has lost hope and plays with no energy.I can't believe the difference between Nebraska of last year and this year's team. Very surprising that the Huskers are this bad.

Did you see that MSU's free throw woes bit them in the butt. Travis Trice was 6/13 from the line in an OT loss to Minny. Sparty was up 5 points with 20 seconds left and choked the game away. Why they allowed the Gophers to shoot a late 3 is perplexing.

Izzo has been quoted as saying he doesn't like to foul in situations like that. Personally, I just don't understand it. I have seen last second shots made way too often to allow a team to shoot the 3. I believe without question you should foul.

Funny thing was the MSU was lucky just to get to OT because they didn't just give up a late 3, but also fouled on it, giving Minn a chance to win in regulation before the guy missed the FT.

I'm not sure how "who can shoot most free throws at end of a game" is a great brand of basketball. I think if you intentionally foul someone to send them to the free throw line, it should be an intentional foul.

How about just play the game until it ends. Shorten the shot clock if you want more chances.

Free throw shooting is part of the game. Good teams close out games at the free throw line. Sometimes, it is good strategy to foul and I think Michigan State should have learned that lesson. If I remember correctly, they lost to Maryland because they didn't foul and they lost last night because they didn't foul.

Jerry came to my hometown basketball camp when I was in 6th grade......severely sprained my ankle and couldn't continue playing.....he felt bad for me and signed my t-shirt.

Refs are a little whistle happy early in this one.

    Terrible half.

All about shooting in this game. Purdue hitting everything, OSU under 30%. That's the bottom line.

Not gonna be sad to watch Amir, Scott and even Thompson move on from this team. They are doing absolutely nothing tonite thus far. Unreal you can have three seniors with as much experience as they have continue to play this poorly, consistently..at same time is seems.
  • centralbucksfan
OSU back within a point. Is it a coincidence they made this run with Scott on the bench? Russell taking over. Lets see if they can finish one of these comebacks.
  • centralbucksfan
Officiating is absolute shit in this game. That was a jump ball, the official was calling and changed mid signal to a timeout. BS!
  • centralbucksfan
Big win for OSU. Coming back from 12 down at half. Russell with 28. Pretty much did it on his own.
  • Terry_Tate
Needed that one badly. This team doesn't stop fighting, that's what got them the win.
