Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

Really like to see Matta make some major changes with this team. Mostly benching Scott and Amir. I know he'll never do it. But again, I'd rather lose with the younger guys playing than watching these seniors. Frustrating team to watch. So inconsistent.

Would really like to see KBD at least play! Talented kid that should be getting some minutes. I'm not calling for him to start and get over 30 minutes a game but more then the 0 he is getting. Especially with the way the team is playing. I do like what Tate brings everytime he is on the court. I think he should get more time as well. As far as Amir goes he is worthless and there's nothing that can or ever will change about that unfortunately. This whole Sr. class has ended up being a huge bust. 2 McDonald's AA plus Ross was highly ranked as well. Just havent panned out.

Russell had a very strong game and Tate provided a real spark in the first half. Other than that, blah.

Amir benched. OSU still starts in an 8-0 hole.

Has amir played. I didn't catch the first 8 minutes. Haven't seen him at all though.

It's so unfortunate that the rest of this team blows, because D'Angelo is so damn good.

Pulled out the W, well DRussell wouldn't let us lose is more like it.

Played 3 minutes in the first half, none in the second.

Amir and Loving both didn't start. Amir came in and played a few minutes..sucked really bad. Matta jerked him out and didn't play him rest of the way. Loving came off the bench to play well. The different starting lineup didn't help much to start game. OSU down 11 early, 21-10. Then came back to take nice lead only to let NW back in game late. Russell had 33pts, 7rb, 6 asst. Kid is so smooth..and continues to get better. Too bad no one else is getting much better. :-/

I do have to admit that while I'd heard of the strong chance Tate would replace Loving in the line-up, Lee going from the invisible man to starting and playing 22 minutes was a surprise. Since I was busy and didn't see the game, how did he look? Box score seemed solid if just for 4-4 shooting, but 8/3 with two blocks isn't really anything more than Amir could provide and no one liked him, so...?

I am not sure this is newsworthy. The list of players nominated is rather long. The players listed from California alone probably exceeds 50.Did you see Mickey Mitchell's stats?

As for the game, a win is a win. It is troubling that one-and ones are missed at the end of game especially by a senior, Shannon Scott. Obviously, poor free throw shooting made this game close. How many times is Loving going to turn the ball over on the dribble before he realizes he should not dribble.Amir is getting worse. How can that happen?

It was good to see Cam Williams finally hit a shot.I hope that is in indication of things to come. I like Tate's energy, but he needs to learn that he can't power the ball into the basket like he did in high school. Get the offensive rebound and kick it out when surrounded by bigs.

The refs missed two goal-tending calls that may have cost NW the game, but the reaction by Coach Collins on the 2nd miss should have resulted in a technical foul. Very poor sideline behavior.

I thought it was by far the best Lee looked all year. He was active and made a couple nice shots. Shots that Amir wouldn't have even been able to take. He was not spectacular by any means, but did ok. McDonald came off the bench with some solid minutes as well. Actually, he helped get OSU going early with a missed rebound dunk that provided a spark to the team. Amir looks completely disinterested at this point in time.

I realize this. But this class is pretty good overall. Mitchell stats arent' great. But he has dealt with injuries off and on. If you have watched any highlights of Mitchell though, he is impressive. As long as he can stay healthy. Not worried about stats. I am VERY excited for Grandstaff. The kid can just flat out shoot the ball. Obviously, Harris is the future PG for the next 4yrs. OSU has no one else for that position. Thats a little troublesome. And although Giddens is a little raw offensively, he is a beast defensively and will provide a presence down low that OSU hasn't had in a while. Add in the returning players next year (minus Russel), and the VaTech kid who is redshirting, and I feel the future is bright.

The game..ya, Cam as been disappointing after lighting it up early. I figured he wouldn't be as good in Big Ten...but thought he would be better than he has shooting the ball. Agree about Tate. But I can live with his mistakes because he is the only one who plays with consistant effort. He will learn and get better.
Goal tending..one definately. Thought the second one was questionable. And yes, Collins went ape shit. Pretty funny actually.
Wouldn't classify it as a great win by any means. But it was a MUST win game.

I hope you are right about Mitchell. I watched him play a few weeks ago and I was underwhelmed to say the least. He must have been the 3rd or 4th offensive option and did not do much.

Made that same pass against Iowa, but Thompson wasn't really expecting it and couldn't finish.
  • Laley23
Expected a close game win last time. Expecting a loss this time around.

Road game versus a good team after a huge home win usually doesn't end well.
  • Midstate01
I'd love to see osu win, but I don't have much confidence since they have the worst seniors in the country.
  • Midstate01
IU is on a ridiculous streak the last couple games. They can't miss anything. Williams throws up 2 ugly shots and both rattle around and go in. Could be a long day.
  • gerb131
Russell May go for 38. 21-19 bucks
  • gerb131
For as fast as iu started they haven't scored in 6+. 25-19. Thad has some different combos working this game.
  • Midstate01
Yogi flops more than Russell. Geesh
  • gerb131
    Kam Williams can't hit one.
