Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

Just crappy all around game for OSU last nite. Only bright spot was Amir. Q continues to struggle. I know he had a hurt hand. But they said he was/is healthy now. Have others heard differently? BEing at the game, I can't hear what is being reported on TV/Radio. OSU has shot poorly for three straight games going back to OU. Hope this is not a trend as I expected a MUCH better shooting team all around. Forcing 27 turnovers, OSU should have won that game by 30pts. They seemed as if their were playing with effort. So I can't fault that. But it was far from impressive.

I was disappointed. I did some ultra-super-scientific score-checking (American lost to George Mason by 3, who beat Northern Iowa by 6, who lost to Ohio by 11, who lost to OSU by 10) and determined that OSU would win by 15.

And then it only ended up 11.

    Motherfuckers...

They'll get there, ha I'm okay if the offense isn't clicking by mid November

I'd like to see Q come off the bench (with Sammy filling his starting role)--maybe that'll kick start him to start playing to his potential a little more.

Q has a knee issue of some sort.

At this point, if Q doesn't get going, I would agree with this completely. I was thinking this last nite while watching game.

Hmm..must not be too serious. He wasn't even wearing a sleave or any kind of protectant on it last nite.

Buckeyes shooting the ball well tonight.
  • Midstate01
Q just looks awful. I know he has the knee issue, but he looks terrible.

34 points given up in a half is way too many.
  • vball10set
Smith, Jr., Williams, Scott and Loving playing well, but it's crazy how far Q has regressed from last year's tourney--he looks absolutely lost out there.
  • Midstate01
Loving is gonna be really good.
  • Midstate01
    Getting outworked bigtime.
  • se-alum
Offense has gone cold, and the defense is guarding anyone. Williams is a step slow on all his rotations.
  • vball10set
Ross needs to sit--he can't shoot, and his non block-out just led to Nance's jam--he needs to sit now.
  • Midstate01
    Worst technical ever
  • se-alum
Well, the Buckeyes locked down on defense and turned it into easy buckets on the offensive end.
  • Midstate01
Famtastic second half defensively. That one kid kept wanting to go at Thompson and just kept getting his shot blocked.

Might be the best defensive team I've ever seen at OSU. That's how they're gonna win, play a fast pace and get lots of turnovers and then score easy on the other end

They need to do it for 40 minutes though. They were terrible defensively in the 1st half.

Glad Coach Matta listened to me-lol...loved the smothering defense, and am also encouraged by the play of Amir offensively...also, as mentioned above, Loving's going to be really good.

I love seeing Amir "getting" it

Wasn't he entire second half. Last 10 minutes. Being at the game, it was obvious OSU just cranked it up, played with MUCH more effort as a team the last 10 minutes. Craft took over as well, getting to the hoop and scoring or breaking down the defense.Smith played hard the entire game. Although Thompson didn't score much, he played great defense and gave OSU what they needed. Amir was huge yet again. Gotta see this against comparable size and talent. But still a great thing to see and it only gives him confidence which is huge for him IMO.
Ross...not sure what is going on with him. He can't buy a basket. Its obvious watching, that he is thinking way too much. He had good looks last nite as well. I am not one to bench a player for not shooting well. I think that can only add to the problem. Who cares who starts. As we saw last nite, its easy to put Thompson in the game, or Loving and go with them. Knowing how Matta coaches, he is a players coach, and he will stick with Ross. I am hopeful Ross will come around eventually. Its good to see others step up while he struggles.
Give Wyoming credit, I personally think they are a good team, and VERY well coached team.

Amir looking like a completely different player, and it all comes down to confidence.

Marc Loving will be a fun player to watch develop over the next couple years. Seems to play very mature basketball for being a freshman. ADV with 17 today, and the dude can straight knock down the 3 ball. Could definitely see him being a Diebler type player, but only a much better slasher. Amir played well as well, but it's hard to judge him against these teams who don't have big men that are on his caliber level. If he plays with this much confidence though I have no doubt Ohio State will give Michigan State a run for their money for the B1G title.

Looks like Q got on track a little bit today.
