I know it will be an unpopular opinion but I think Shannon Scott will get better overall without Aaron Craft. I don't really think the two ever quite meshed on the floor together and it took down Scott's game. Ivan Harris was another McDonald's All-American who put it together to have a solid senior year. I think Scott can too.

With D'Angelo Russell and Keita Bates-Diop coming in as legit scoring threats, I honestly think there is a chance that they are better next year if Ross comes back (and I think he should). Both of them will be better than Lenzelle Smith Jr. ever was IMHO.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. was a solid Buckeye and a good soldier but he should've never been recruited to be an Ohio State Buckeye IMHO.

So while this is a rough day I think the future looks bright for OSU basketball.
Don't know if I can agree about Scott. We'll see. Dumbass cost OSU game today fouling a player on a 3pt shot. Never foul a jumpshooter. Just stupid.

DIOP "may" help. We'll see. Russel is a STUD and will step right in and provide scoring as well as someone able to make a play. Something lacking big time with this team.
Ross? I am not sure I would be too unhappy if he left. He is certainly NOT ready to play in the NBA. His attitude needs to be better.
OSU is still also in the hunt for another player. Could be a juco from what I am hearing. Or another big. Not sure either one would be able to help much.

Today..well, a microcosm of the season. IF you had told me Craft would get 16, Thompson 18...I would say OSU wins going away. Where was Ross? Really bad today. In typical fashion, OSU had a couple players step up, then huge drop off, no one else. This team could rarely put it all together. As someone mentioned above, they are what they are. I didn't feel good about this game as soon as I saw matchup. Dayton had nothing to lose, all pressure on OSU. And UD had a nice team who was playing well second half of season. Congrats to the Flyers.

Yeah, that foul was an absolute killer.
BUT the kid still needed to make the FT's and he made all three. That is absolute clutch.

Anyone who watched the Buckeyes this year with any regularity knows this wasn't an upset. Ohiobucks1, you hit the nail on the head..."we are who we thought we were"...well said.

They lost to Findlay a few years back

Most fans refuse to acknowledge it though because it was an "exhibition" game

Give Dayton a little bit of credit. We did not come into this game empty handed. Up to this point, we have played four ranked teams, all on the road, and won three of them and lost the other by one point. And as I stated before, the A-10 is not a mid-major conference. We placed four teams in the NCAA this year and already have at least one win.

As far as Ohio State is concerned, my cousin, an OSU alum, and I discussed this game a few days ago. He felt that Ohio State has a good team but it's very inconsistent. They are obviously good or they wouldn't be ranked. But he was afraid they would have a down game against us. I said that the same thing was true about Dayton. We have not been consistent. We lost several very close games, lost to some poor teams, and lost three times to St. Joe's.

At any rate, Ohio State moves on to football and Dayton moves on to Syracuse. Best of luck to both teams!

    The A-10 is a mid-major.

The A-10 had 6 teams in the tournament this year.

Dayton played 1 ranked team on the road.

He isn't Amir Williams or Trey McDonald.

Fairwoodking, please go away. You cause me to be embarrassed to be a Dayton fan.

Really gotta hope the incoming recruits are ready to play. This roster is bad right now. Shannon Scott is dumb and offensively inept(how many layups can one man miss in a season), Ross probably can't spell his own name and can barely dribble and move at the same time, Amir Williams is just putrid(how does a 6'10" player miss a layup by 3 feet), who knows what ADV can do since we were forced to watch Lenzelle Smith(he must be Scott's layup coach) be terrible all year, Loving showed zero progress through the season. If the freshman can't make an impact, we'll be fighting for an NIT spot next year.

Averaged 13.6ppg & 8.6rpg. Will either put Amir's ass on the bench or force him to improve to keep his spot. Would be a very nice pickup for OSU!

Checked Youtube, interesting cat, he's a gospel rapper.

All I did was tell the truth. If you're embarrassed by that, then it's your problem.

    No. No you didn't.

I am a little more optimistic. Again, I won't be terribly upset to see Ross go. But I'd be stupid to think if he came back, continued to improve, that he wouldn't help OSU big time. I know you can't count on an incoming frosh, but by all accounts, Russel is the real deal and is going to make an impact.
Although I am not high on Scott at all, maybe with Craft gone, he will not feel the pressure of him around and can play a little more loose.
Was disappointed with Thompson this year overall. Very inconsistant. Hopefully he is ready to step up.
Williams is...well Williams. Not sure he has it above the shoulders at all. Although he was better overall this year. Still not where most thought he would be.
ADV should only continue to get stronger/better as well. I have heard good things about Kam Williams as well. Supposedly is a very good shooter.
I don't think its fair to say Loving didn't make progress. I think he did. And I think he is going to be a very good four year player for OSU. Typically, a frosh like him makes their biggest jump from freshman to soph. year. He'll be stronger next year and that will help him tremendously.
And besides Russel, I wouldn't be too high on other frosh coming in, in terms of making a major impact next season. Hearing OSU may even pull scholly from Bell. Other two are questionable in terms of making much of an impact.
So overall, if everyone returns, adding in the recruits currently signed, I think OSU will be just fine next year. Great? No. But they have the atheletes to compete and should be better offensively. Which was the major issue this past season.

I know the first 2 visits he has set up (well, maybe not made the dates yet) are Iowa St. and Indiana.

Last I heard was Iowa, OSU and another team I am blanking on are going to be the main contenders.

Im optimistic as an IU fan cause of his stated desire to make the NBA after next year and needing a coach to develop him into that. Wade and Oladipo are great selling points on that.

Lee is a great player. He was just stuck on an abysmal team this year. Would be a nice get.

He and Khalif Wyatt were one win away against Indiana IMO from taking the Owls to the Final Four and returning Temple back to national glory. That team was loaded with talent.
