Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

I thought we'd lose to Cuse anyway. Oh well I hope the rest of the tourney is exciting.

Thad is a fraud. No wonder the Luckeyes want no part of playing in state teams like Dayton.

It's time for him to go and bring in someone capable of finishing the job at some point.
  • Automatik
    Yeah bro, terrified of Dayton.

Stick to trolling the Browns threads.

Not sure what is worse, Shannon Scott's foul on the 3 attempt or this post.

At least OSU football invites ohio teams to come play at the shoe. No reason why the bucks dont schedule some in state teams. Will be better attendance than most of their other awful teams they have come in. We went to the Cent Conn st I think it was...they were practically giving away tickets and it was half full.

LOL, iggq brings this shit to OSU basketball as well?
  • Automatik
Yeah, Dayton in an OOC this season....definitely would help out this team.

Are you fucking serious? Strong schedule, weak schedule...it doesn't matter. Call a spade a spade. This roster was/is garbage.

Never know....a little better OOC schedule couldnt hurt. Just like IU, they both played a shit OOC schedule. I think going against better competition can help most teams. Now..if you have a young team, trying to rebuild (like IU a couple of years ago) then I think a creampuff schedule is OK, I guess, to build the program and interest.

The OOC for OSU/IU was so soft that it didnt get them ready to play and improve.
  • Automatik
Yes, a strong OOC schedule is obviously beneficial. My point is, with this team, it doesn't matter. They aren't good. 3-4 games against stronger opponents would not have changed that.

Why couldn't they improve throughout the "grueling" Big 10 play?

I know! BECAUSE THEY AREN'T GOOD.
  • Mohican00
I don't get it.......Ohio State consistently plays in state schools each year (Cleveland State, Cincinnati, Wright State, even a competitive OU team this year) but because they right ones (heh) they are avoiding them?

How does a tough OOC help in March? B1G was more than difficult enough to prepare them for the tourney
  • Terry_Tate
This years OOC schedule was embarrassing. I don't think playing 2 or 3 games against top 20 teams would have made this offense any better at the end of the year, but damn I don't ever want to see that shitty of a schedule again.

I get what you are saying, but a little easier to improve in the OOC when you sprinkle some tough opponants in and have a few creampuffs in between to work on your shortfalls.

Once the big10 starts it is a bit tougher to work on those things when you facing tougher opponants. SOrt of like how baseball players work on things in spring training. Easier to do it there, work on their weaknesses when it doesnt mean as much and are facing less pitching, than to do so during the reg seaon
  • Automatik
    Yes, I agree completely.

But again, just a shit team. We got SWEPT by Penn State. Embarrassing.

I truly believe they were legit legit scorer away from being formidable.
  • thavoice
but anyways.......kinda sucked that OSU and UD had to face eachother in the first round as it is more exciting when local teams are in, but glad they got to meet up.

still good to see little brother beating big brother...

Learn me on the incoming frosh for next year.

Will someone be capable of running the point? Scoring the fucking ball?

I'd look it up, but I like the realness of my OC brethren.

Yes. They have 2 scorers coming in and Russell could be a star. Lefty with a great game.

Nah they were just missing a piece. With DT they go to the Elite 8 or Final four imo
  • Automatik
Yes, one true scorer and they are a different team.

A team full of role players is exactly what they were....shitty.

I think Kameron Williams who red-shirted due to getting mono will be a pleasant surprise as a guy who could back up Scott and score off the dribble handling the rock. I know it will be an unpopular opinion but I think Shannon Scott will get better overall without Aaron Craft. I don't really think the two ever quite meshed on the floor together and it took down Scott's game. Ivan Harris was another McDonald's All-American who put it together to have a solid senior year. I think Scott can too.

With D'Angelo Russell and Keita Bates-Diop coming in as legit scoring threats, I honestly think there is a chance that they are better next year if Ross comes back (and I think he should). Both of them will be better than Lenzelle Smith Jr. ever was IMHO.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. was a solid Buckeye and a good soldier but he should've never been recruited to be an Ohio State Buckeye IMHO.

So while this is a rough day I think the future looks bright for OSU basketball.
