2013-14 OC FANTASY BASKETBALL PICK'EM RULES (UPDATED 10/24)

    ROSTERS
The league will be set-up for 12 teams. All teams will be in one division. Rosters will be 12 players. Initially we will draft/recruit 12 active players to start our teams. Players can be selected from a list of 12 conferences.

    Big East
    Big Ten
    Atlantic Ten
    Big 12
    Mountain West
    Pac-12
    ACC
    SEC
    American Athletic
    Missouri Valley
    Conference USA
    West Coast Conference

Each team will be allowed to have 1 wild card player from outside one of these 12 leagues and they may be picked at any time during the draft.

    DRAFT
Draft/Recruiting will be set-up in a snake format. The order of draft will be randomly selected. I will post this once we know the 12 people participating. The draft will be done on the forums and must be completed by opening night, which is effectively, November the 12th. It will begin ASAP, without a time limit, but I'm hoping we have everyone ready to be pretty active. If the draft lingers longer, we can push the season back.

    LINEUPS
Each team will start all 12 players. Each team however, must draft at least 2 players with center eligibility and at least 4 with forward and guard eligibility. Starting all 12 makes it much easier to score and since we don't have a template to input lineups, this is how it has to be. Position eligibility will be based on ESPN's roster page. Therefore, if a guy is listed as a forward/center, he may play those positions. We will be listing them on draft day to make sure everything is followed.SCORING
Total scoring will be based on the following numbers.

    TOTAL=(POINTS x 1)+(REBOUNDS x 1.25)+(ASSISTS x 1.5)+(BLOCKS x 2)+(STEALS
    x 2)-(TURNOVERS x 1)

We will base each week on a scoring system and your team will be awarded points for their finish per week. So, if you lead the league in total points, you receive 12 points. Whoever finishes last gets 1 point. The top 4 point earners by the end of the year will make the Final Four.

    SCHEDULE
The season will start on November 12th and will consist of 14 weeks. The Final Four will be the following week (15) and the Championship/Consolation Game will be the following TWO weeks (16 and 17).

    PLAYOFFS
After the four highest scoring teams are determined, they will be seeded based on total points. The Final Four semis, #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3, will be Feb. 17-23. The Finals will be Feb. 24-March 9.

    PLAYER ADDS/DROPS/SUBS
Each team may use 2 "subs" at once while a player is injured, suspended or out. Subs must be submitted at the beginning of the week, prior to that player's first game of the week for it to count. They must be averaging equal or less TPG (total points per game) than the player they are replacing, must be from the same conference and play the same position.

    ENTRY FEES
Previously discussed, $20.00 to play. Sent via Paypal to someone prior to the season who will hold the money. I can use mine or someone else who has done this in the past can.

    PAYOUTS
Total pot is going to be $240. Still deciding the playoff breakdown.

Looks like fun, but I never play these types of things -- I don't do fantasy anything -- if for no other reason than I don't want to ever have to worry about doing it / keeping track. It's just not my thing. Appreciate the invitation, though.

As much as I don't like Duke and may not agree with your views sometime, I think you would be really good at this.

Rec, always a first time for something. Shouldn't be that difficult to manage, as long as you're around for the draft.
  • Laley23
Is 10$ what we settled on? Doesnt matter to me, but I think 20$ keeps people a little more interested if they start to fall off early.

Maybe the 1$ per add/drop will help with that.
  • Laley23
Also, Rec is pretty much a chronic gambler (like a lot of us) so we should get on his case until he agrees to play this!
  • Mulva
Do all 12 eligible conferences play their tournaments between March 9-15? Because that's a pretty huge factor if there are going to be limited player adds.

Good point. I believe the MVC and WCC don't.

As for the schedule, that is something that can be easily tweaked. We can go with that depending when we complete the draft and such. It may be a few weeks into the season, so it could be shortened.

I did want conference tournament week to have some implications though, as it's usually a "dead week" on here for pick'ems and pools.

You know I'd be down for whatever the group decides on.
  • SportsAndLady
    I'm down.

Rec don't be such a dukie uhh I mean pansy. Play.
  • birddog23
I'm down. I need some redemption for my shitty performance with tournament player pick 'em
  • Azubuike24
So we have 10. 2 more confirmed and we can get rolling. No clue why Rec won't take the plunge. We know he will be here posting in the Duke thread for the next 6 months.

Haha. This is true. I feel like an asshole for as many times as I go to Kroger and have to confirm to the Western Union clerk that, yes, I do in fact want to wire $200 to a man named Pang in Manila. Lol.

I just don't get into fantasy games. Never have been interested in anything other than pure gambling as far as betting/games goes. Just don't care about it. With that said, if more are needed, maybe I'd do it.
  • Laley23
More are needed. I promise you will like it.

I know betting can get you interested in games you otherwise wouldnt, but fantasy takes it to another level cause you stick with those teams/games.

Lol. Spoken like a true gambler.

I'll give it a go, I guess. So another one in.

I was kind of hoping the team picture with guns would do that.

Cannot wait for November 12 and Jabari's homecoming. Will be the most fun regular-season game I can remember as a Duke fan.

Should be awesome..you planning on going?

Yeah, I am planning on going with my Dad, who's the reason I am a Duke fan. Chicago is always a great location to catch a game. Love the city.
  • SportsAndLady
Nice, I'm trying to go, too.

    Tickets will not be cheap
  • Laley23
Im trying to go to that game as well, since my gf/sister/others are in Chicago and at the moment I am planning on being there over that time.
  • Azubuike24
I've thought about it too. Tickets for both games aren't cheap, but it's the best "event" of the year until Final Four weekend. One of the best preseason showcases of talent ever.

23 McDonald's All-Americans in the building on current rosters...

Very possibly 50% of the first round of next year's NBA draft...
  • Iliketurtles
If I was in Ohio I would definitely be going. Sadly I don't have any vacation days this year or I might have thought about going anyway. It's just going to be amazing to see those games and all of that talent.

Also glad you doing this Rec is will be an awesome time.
  • birddog23
Once we get 12, will we be then starting the draft?
  • GOONx19
I can get my roommate to play if no one else will, but he's never been on the OC before, so I'd rather one of the regulars do it.
