Anyone notice the computer rankings? Jeff Sagarin has OSU in 4th. Look who is #3? Northern Ill. If that isn't a red flag that his computer ranking isn't F'up, I don't know what is!
I am sure it probably doesn't affect anything in big picture. But still.
I wonder if there is any chance at that OSU could catch FSU. They did close the gap from last week to this week. With two impressive wins to close out..would that be enough especially considering who FSU plays. Probably doubtful. -

I think it would take all of FSU's opponents losing this weekend and OSU's winning. But even that wouldn't do it most likely.centralbucksfan;1542691 wrote:http://espn.go.com/college-football/bcs/_/year/2013

ernest_t_bass2-loss teams above MSU is a joke. OSU has no chance at the NCG b/c the powers that be will keep MSU from being ranked high enough to mean anything.

OSU will make it if Bama or FSU lose. Now you and your tin foil hat can kindly GFY.ernest_t_bass;1542699 wrote:2-loss teams above MSU is a joke. OSU has no chance at the NCG b/c the powers that be will keep MSU from being ranked high enough to mean anything. -

LOL @ tin foil hat. Arbitrary rankings have played a HUGE role in the hype this year.Rotinaj;1542708 wrote:OSU will make it if Bama or FSU lose. Now you and your tin foil hat can kindly GFY. -

There are no powers that be keeping OSU out of anything. The powers that be know that OSU brings ratings and cash if they were in the title game. No matter how much they dislike OSU, it's not enough to override their love of money.ernest_t_bass;1542699 wrote:2-loss teams above MSU is a joke. The reason MSU is ranked where they are is partly preseason rankings. It's not a conspiracy, it's the way College works. It sucks but it's the truth. -

Too bad we can't get a system in place like the OHSAA has, where basically there is zero controversy and it's honestly probably the best formula used to rank teams. I think it's the B1G bias that hurts MSU and OSU more than anything, this perception that the Midwest has nothing but terrible football is the most damaging thing. I mean OSU has gone 6-3 so far in BCS Bowls, yet we see articles about their futility? You hear guys like Mark May and southern football reporters who think they all suck up here. As I said before, this is the 3rd best conference in college footballpmoney25;1542721 wrote:There are no powers that be keeping OSU out of anything. I never said that. I think they should be ranked ahead of the 2 loss teams. I just don't think there is some fucking conspiracy against OSU and the B1G. The MSU OSU game doesn't mean shit if Bama and FSU win out.SportsAndLady;1542719 wrote:Please, mr unbiased OSU fan, tell us why 2 loss teams should be ranked ahead of 1 loss msu -

It has nothing to do with conspiracy. It has EVERYTHING to do with overhyped, arbitrary rankings.Rotinaj;1542730 wrote:I never said that. I think they should be ranked ahead of the 2 loss teams. Where the hell have you been for the last 100 years in college football? It's always been about arbitrary rankings?ernest_t_bass;1542735 wrote:It has nothing to do with conspiracy. It has EVERYTHING to do with overhyped, arbitrary rankings. -

Personally, I think Stanford being above them is a joke. Stanford lost to TWO unranked teams. And now that Oregon win isn't near as impressive as it was since Oregon was again exposed.SportsAndLady;1542719 wrote:Please, mr unbiased OSU fan, tell us why 2 loss teams should be ranked ahead of 1 loss msu
South Carolina...lost to TWO unranked(currently) teams as well. One team, Tenn is under .500. Yes, Georgia was ranked at the time they played. But as we OSU fans hear, that doesn't mean anything currently (NW)
So yes, in this case, I think MSU being ranked lower than those two, is questionable at best. -
sleeper1. Ohio State
2. FSU
3. Alabama
4. MSU
5. Auburn -
pmoney25Who has Sparty beat? Stanford has played and beaten multiple ranked teams. Not too mention MSU and Stanford both will have played Notre Dame, Stanford will probably roll ND. South Carolina if they win against Clemson will have beaten two top ten teams.
I have no issue with the ranking because if it's always based on record then Northern Illinois should be #4. -

MSU is undefeated in at worst the 2nd best conference in the country. NIU plays in the MAC; the 2nd worst conference in the country(Sun Belt/Big East is the worst).pmoney25;1542770 wrote:Who has Sparty beat? Stanford has played and beaten multiple ranked teams. Who has FSU beaten? If you say Clemson, who have they beaten? The ACC conference is ranked lower than the Big10 in most conference rankings.pmoney25;1542770 wrote:Who has Sparty beat? And if you wanna play that game, who has #5 Mizzou beaten?
BTW, Stanford has beaten two currently ranked teams. #18 ASU and #22 UCLA. Impressive? Stanford has been a media darling all year long. Many picking them to make title game. -

This is the part that just drives me nuts. "FSU beat a highly ranked Miami team." Big fucking deal. Miami turned out to be crap, but "at the time, they were ranked high!!! ZOMG!!!" Big fucking deal.pmoney25;1542770 wrote:Stanford has played and beaten multiple ranked teams. -
redstreak oneOn the bleacher report conference rankings, the Big 10 is 3rd. According to that report, if Purdue werent stinking it up, they could push for the 2nd best conference, but yet they cant get the 2nd best team in the conference into the top 10.
The early season polls are undeniably set up to help the SEC! They will consistently have 3 or 4 teams hovering near the top 10, making it easier for them to move up quickly. -
ernest_t_bassI would love it if polls (the ones that mean something) were not allowed to be released until the BCS polls are released. Like, a week earlier.

Yep. By that standards, OSU fans should start bragging about how they beat RANKED Northwestern.ernest_t_bass;1542807 wrote:This is the part that just drives me nuts. Who cares that they're 4-7 now and haven't won a single league game. They were ranked at the time and, therefore, that boosts the Buckeye resume vastly. -
pmoney25This waste of time arguing is why NFL is better.
I'll try to put this in the simplest terms. There is no agenda against OSU. College has a retarded ranking system that puts to much emphasis on where you start the season. The rankings the rest of the year play off of that. It's not something that just started this year. I think it sucks.
According to you guys no one in the top ten has played or beat anybody. What happens when Ohio State beats Sparty by 3 TDS -
ernest_t_bass
Why should victory margin matter? If OSU wins big, then MSU isn't good. If it's close, then OSU isn't as good as hyped. Nothing positive will be said about tOSU/B1G, regardless of the outcome.pmoney25;1542865 wrote:According to you guys no one in the top ten has played or beat anybody.
