Con_AlmaNavy has their hands ful in their opener against Indiana. Vegas has them listed as 13 point dogs.
The defense is athletic and young. Indiana might have one of their better offenses in years. We eagerly await the 6:00 P.M. kick-off. -

I think he's saying the new AP poll is gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.SportsAndLady;1494811 wrote:Has it came out or has it come out? -

First, I'm not taking any polls this early too seriously. But a couple of interesting things happened.carmen;1494806 wrote:The new AP poll has came out.
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Ohio State
4. Clemson
5. Stanford
6. South Carolina
7. Texas A&M
8. Louisville
9. LSU
10. Florida State
11. Georgia
12. Florida
13. Oklahoma State
14. Notre Dame
15. Texas
16. Oklahoma
17. Michigan
18. UCLA
19. Northwestern
20. Washington
21. Wisconsin
22. Nebraska
23. Baylor
24. TCU
25. Southern California
Oregon jumped OSU by pounding an FCS school?
TCU lost and dropped 4 spots. Nebraska won and dropped 4 spots. (Yes, Nebraska struggled against a bad opponent while TCU lost to a top 15 team, but it just seems odd that both teams within two spots of each other in last weeks poll and this week as well, both dropped the same amount of spots even though 1 lost and the other won.) -
carmenIts because NEB had a close game and gave up 600 yards to a nobody who they were favored to win by 28 points.
OSU struggled in a sense to Buffalo also. -
LJOSU stayed #2 in the poll that matters (coaches)

Yes, I realize why it happened. I even explained as much in my post. I was just simply stating it's amusing.carmen;1494838 wrote:Its because NEB had a close game and gave up 600 yards to a nobody who they were favored to win by 28 points.

And no, OSU didn't struggle with Buffalo. They didn't blow them out but they thoroughly beat them. My point regarding OSU/Oregon is I don't understand why Oregon is getting credit for dominating a FCS team. Neither game tells us anything really substantial.
But like I said, this is an early poll and still pretty meaningless. I don't put much stock into polls until a 4-6 games into a season. Game 1 doesn't tell too much as it is hard to compare off such limited samples. -

LJOregon should not have jumped OSU for thumping an FCS that went 1-10 last year

Agreed, and I also don't think Georgia should have dropped 6 spots because they lost to #8 (at the time) Clemson---in Death Valley.LJ;1494848 wrote:Oregon should not have jumped OSU for thumping an FCS that went 1-10 last year -

I think Oregon loses 2-3 games this year, not because they lack talent, but they lost their HC and have a 1st time HC. I think it's kind of odd that everyone is giving so much respect to a new HC. But then again, the voters gave also gave a lot of respect to Lane Kiffin despite never doing anything.LJ;1494848 wrote:Oregon should not have jumped OSU for thumping an FCS that went 1-10 last year -

Wonder what will happen if they lose to South Carolina by a close score? Do they drop out of the polls since they would be 0-2? Even though they would be better than most of the top 25 teams.? UGA put themselves in a bad spot playing 2 top 10 teams in the first 2 weeks. -
Fly4Fun
If they lose to USCe by a close score than they remain in the top 25 (possibly even top 20). But if they get blown out I could see them dropping out.carmen;1494865 wrote:Agree.

They did the sort of big gamble schedule-wise that's kind of refreshing in today's CFB landscape, although the way it could turn out is why teams don't do this sort of thing that often anymore.carmen;1494865 wrote:Agree.

If they had won Saturday and win against SC, they'd be 2-0 with such a good strength of schedule, they'd have the best case of anyone in the country for being the best in the country. Instead, like you said, they could wind up either barely in the top 25 or completely irrelevant in early September at 0-2 despite being one of the better teams in the country. -

The theory is (or at least the way some are scheduling in anticipation of the new playoff format) that big OOC will be rewarded more in the new format since perfection is no longer seen as the ultimate goal to have a shot at the NCG.Heretic;1494883 wrote:They did the sort of big gamble schedule-wise that's kind of refreshing in today's CFB landscape, although the way it could turn out is why teams don't do this sort of thing that often anymore.

Doug Lesmerises. He's the best Bucjeye beat writer out there, with all due respect to Kyle Rowland which you guys would know as Lenin or Lane_Ave who in my opinion is the second best OSU guy to follow. Doug does his AP poll different each week and I actually like it. He doesn't just move teams up or down depending on wins or losses, he goes with how he thinks they are. Haven't looked at his this week but saw that in Twitter. -

Just thought it was funny that he calls preseason polls "meaningless" but then he values the wins over ranked teams (using the preseason poll, obv) the highest. He had Bama #3,LSU #2, Clemson #1.Terry_Tate;1494976 wrote:Doug Lesmerises. #9 is obviously too low but #2 is a bit high for the Buckeyes right now. Ohio State allowed a MAC middle-tier team to hang around late in a game the Buckeyes should have been 100% dominant in while playing in The Shoe.Pick6;1494928 wrote:Some doucher that covers the Buckeyes for the Plain Dealer dropped them to #9
I hate how Ohio State always seems to play to the level of the competition rather than going out and doing what they need to do to "prove" they belong in the Top 5 or Top 10.
While it is true that ALL major conference teams schedule OOC cupcakes, it seems that Ohio State takes a lot of extra criticism for not dominating teams like Buffalo. Now that I live in SEC country I'm stunned at the Ohio State haters down here. I constantly hear "overrated", "weak schedule", etc.
Unfortunately Ohio State has to steamroll the cupcakes to "prove" they belong in the Top 5.
After all, if Mark May says so it must be true! -
#1DBagJameis Winston wants to be a Longhorn and they don't give him the time of day. They wanted RGIII and Johnny Football to play defense. Oh, and they don't even give a scholarship offer to Andrew Luck (from that H-Town). LOL @ Texas.
