Bullshit. I can write him off as a failure because he's failed at every job the past 10 years.

It'd be one thing if he showed improvement, but he's not done anything to show me he is cut out to be a competent coach.

Is James Franklin black, white, or mixed?

Not yet, no. However, he's had 3 HC jobs sooner than many guys even get into coaching.

    That means nothing.

    And to my point, why?

Because his dad won a Super Bowl with a team whose offense wasn't ranked in the top 20 and was one of the originators of a defensive scheme that is built into almost every defense today? I think it's obvious why Lane was given opportunities others weren't. I'm not at all saying he deserved those chances, but it's a unique circumstance that really doesn't have any comparisons considering his age.

I agree with Azu, Saban is not going to leg Kiffin do anything that will hurt the Bama program. I am sure this was discussed. From what I read, this was a couple week process where Kiffin was at Bama before being hired. Sounds as though both Kiffin and Saban took time to get to know eachother and discuss things.
Was Kiffin that success at USC as an offensive coordinator, OR was it Pete and the players that made him look good? I am not sure anyone knows. He was abviously NOT a good head coach. But that could be attributed to his youth, lack of head coaching experience. Let alone taking over a major programs before even being a head coach.
What will be interesting to watch, is how much Saban allows Kiffin to do. Obviously, he was known for letting the ball fly. Well, that is not Saban philosophy. And lets be honest, Saban is a control freak. Will he loosen things or will he hog tie Kiffin? If so, we'll see how long Kiffin stays at Bama. Will be interesting to see how things develop.

Kiffin and Saban on the same staff just seems like an explosive situation. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

    I concur.
Most any place else then he may be a problem, but Saban will have enough control over him that I don tthink it will be a problem.
They also will be breaking in a new QB so who knows how that will go

Every place is going to have it's malcontents, but regardless, any trouble they do have seems to be kept in-house and guys tend to really be under wraps. It's kind of like Duke with Coach K

I think it may be a problem with Kiffin. He doesn't seem to be the puppet type. We shall see.

Georgia has hired Jeremy Pruitt away from FSU. Kinda surprising, but it's supposedly a $300k raise lol. Can't blame him.

Yeah it sucks to lose him as an FSU fan as he is a great DC. Its actually at 350K raise but I'm sure FSU was planning on giving him more money but doubt it was that much.

Gotta think he got the head coach in waiting tag at Georgia as well.

I may be the only one, however Monte Kiffin may be one of the more overrated coaches we've seen. His defenses have been terrible once he lost Warren Sapp, John Lynch, Derrick Brooks, and Simeon Rice. Every other stop he's had defense has been awful, see the fact that his own son had to fire him at USC, and by how awful the Cowboys defense was this season.

I think Monte just got lucky, and fell into a team with 3-4 potential HOF members on its Defense crafted a scheme to fit them, and has been riding that success ever since.

Isn't Richt a little young to make a move like that?

    Way too young, 53
  • se-alum
Can't imagine Richt would make a deal like that, especially since he's presumably been on the hot seat for awhile.
  • Midstate01
But those close to him think he's done after 2 more years.

Brian Kelly promoted Mike Denbrock to OC. But Kelly will be calling the plays.

Apparently, Kelly interviewed Al Borges. So I am thankful that we ND fans dodged a bullet on that one.

I just realized the final year of the BCS is also the final year of the EA Sports video game.
