No. However, you could be right about the NC, but I'm hoping you're not.believer;1505015 wrote:Even if the Buckeyes manage 25-0, if Alabama and Oregon/Stanford go undefeated they are in the NC. 25-0 is impressive on paper, but back-to-back undefeated seasons in a conference that has clearly become average at best won't be impressive enough to put OSU in the NC.
I hope this Achilles heel thing pans out. Just keep in mind Wisconsin has always been Ohio State's Achilles heel. emirite?

It was apparently good enough for the Boise States and the TCU's running amok thru the badass Mountain West to deserve at least consideration. Not saying Ohio State would be more deserving, clearly the competition isn't as strong as it should be, but you've been bangin' this fuckin' drum for weeks now, and not one damn thing has changed other that Ohio State upped it's style points a bit. A shut out and dropping 76. Fact is you have no idea what is going to happen the rest of the way.
...but keep bangin' that drum, maybe someone hasn't heard it yet -

I've been a Buckeye fan for 45 years...longer than most of you guys have been alive. In that time I have learned these Buckeye Truths:
1. There is little love for Ohio State outside the Buckeye state. Not because of Buckeye success, but because there's a distinct impression that OSU is generally overrated.
2. Ohio State tends to choke in one key game nearly every season. You can almost set the clock by it.
3. Ohio State has won just 2 NC's in that 45 years. The 1968 NC was a no-doubter and the peak of the Woody Hayes Era in my opinion. The 2003 NC was - right or wrong - chock full of controversy. And during the Buckeye appearances in the 2007 and 2008 NC games, their Buckeye nuts were handed them by the SEC. Hence the root of the current disdain the pollsters and the college football nation have for the Buckeyes.
4. The B1G has lost a ton of clout. Clearly college football reigns supreme in the South and to a degree, the Southwest. Just a warm weather fact.
5. The Big Game has eroded into just another ho-hum B1G contest.
Mark this down: If the SEC and PAC-10 produce undefeated teams this year and if Ohio State goes undefeated, rest assured Ohio State will be on the outside looking in with regard to the 2014 NC.
Not banging a drum. Just trying to prepare you boys for the realities. -
believerBy the way..."style points" for whooping up on Florida A&M? Please.
Yesterday was Style Points Week for a lot of the big boys:
OSU 76 - Florida A&M 0
Louisville 72 - Florida Intl 0
Florida State 54 - Bethune Cookman 6
Georgia 45 - North Texas 21
Style point o' plenty. lmao -
ytownfootballNo need to prepare me or anyone else for shit Chief, we're all big boys.
So oh prognosticator of all things collegiately inclined...
You're basing all of your Buckeye doom and gloom on early season rankings and OOC games...voters won't be doing that at the end of the season
replace those drum skins chief, it's gonna be a long season -
ytownfootballOh and by the way, little brother of the sisters of the poor...forget not that monetary implications do and will continue to exist, or do those fail to be a function in your naive little space of reality?

And, for this year, OSU has a really, really, really bad schedule. It is such a joke. Only 3 teams may be ranked when OSU plays them, and none in the top 10, whereas Bama, LSU, Oregon, and Stanford all will be playing more top 25 teams, and more top 10 teams. And, their conferences are stronger.
It is not a knock on OSU, just when you compare the resumes of OSU and the other schools, if all are unbeaten, it is no contest.
Also, whenever the BCS computers come out, OSU will get killed for it.
25-0 is irrelevant, because it is seen as being against subpar opponents.
Still September, but OSU has got to do what they did on Saturday, kill their opponents, cover all the insane spreads, and hope no one is left unbeaten. -

The fact that people still wish to debate/question the validity is proof that haterade is still being dispensed somewhere...Sonofanump;1505039 wrote:Dan Fouts is a biased idiot. Fact.
Amazes me that so many people are putting so much stock on a win early in the season and giving no thought or value to the strength of the win when the season draws to a close...win 'em all and see where the chips fall.
I like the chances Ohio State has. There's certainly more opportunity for others to trip than the Bucks...FACT. -
RotinajOSU plays the easiest schedule of the national championship contenders. As of now I think they have the best shot at making the game. I don't see more than 2(OSU and someone else) total teams going undefeated based on the toughness of the games left on their schedule. Conference championship games are going to be killers this year IMO.

TiernanSonuvabitch Rotinhell...we finally agree on something.

Ironman92Well every team every year you can mark down pretty confidently for getting upset. OSU is not different than anyone else there.
Teams are going to overlook, play tight, play sloppy, get upset and it will happen to most every single team. -

I guess you missed the part where Oregon passed OSU in the AP after smacking Nicholls state (LOL). Nicholls state was 1-11 in FCS last yearbeliever;1505030 wrote:By the way..."style points" for whooping up on Florida A&M? Please.

carmenBeliever, great post! Oregon/Stanford/Clemson if undefeated deserve the spot over OSU. Only Louisville shouldnt. And I believe an undefeated or even one loss SEC team should be in over OSU. It doesnt matter if OSU is undefeated or not. If an SEC team has one loss and wins their SEC title game, they will have alot more quality wins vs higher quality teams.

Someone enlighten us all as to when "deserving" has been the primary function of bowl selection committees. -

Computers decide championship game. Are you planning on going to a different bowl? If so, yes OSU brings in alot of money for bowl games. Just not many wins since 2006.ytownfootball;1505101 wrote:Lawlz...
