Gordon Gee... Legend.

  • queencitybuckeye
The SEC-ers need to get over it. Save Vandy, it's a group of some of the worst "national" universities in the country.

If these types of things were said about OSU...it would be the worst thing you guys could ever imagine...but since it was Gee saying it about other schools...it is great and he is a legend.

    Typical Ohio hypocrites.

Actually, his SEC comments were in response to "these types of things". The single-tooth types started it, EGG just slapped them back.

I think Gee is an idiot. But he said it to basically his buddies. Not at a press conference. And he didnt even say anything that was really out of bounds. So its been blown up BY Columbus media.

I get what you're saying but in this day and age....you have got to be more aware of things like that. Gotta watch what you say because it's gonna get out there and when it does....you're gonna have to answer for it.
Yeah you're right, but since it's Gordon Gee it's clear he gives zero f*cks

Honestly, no. I googled him. He died in 1946. What is the connection?

Remember Larry Grant, LB for OSU a few years ago?

There has been plenty of talk over the past couple of days about the possibility of Ohio State landing five-star JUCO linebacker Larry Grant of CC of San Francisco. Grant previously committed to Florida and was hoping to have signed with the Gators by now, but he lacked one class required to meet SEC requirements. Could Florida's loss become Ohio State's gain?

Why did you quote me for this post, it certainly doesn't negate a single word I posted.

As a Catholic, it pisses me off that the board of the university chose to make any kind of a deal about that. Any moron would know Gee was trying to be humorous - nothing more. It is pathetic we live in a day where comments like this have to be treated like the coming apocolypse. Ohio State has sadly become just another politically correct institutional clone. Thoughtless following the thoughtless like lemings off the cliff.

Notre Dame doesn't represent all Catholics anyway. I can't stand the place. I also find Gordon Gee to be a goofball. He almost single handily is why I have disregarded Ohio State even though I hold a degree from the joint.

I think Gordon Gee might actually be sleeper. Talks like him. Act like him. And another reason why people hate OSU. I think the dude forgets he spent 8 years at an SEC school. Maybe his next job can be a orville redenbacher impersonator.

    Saw 11w tweet this out

Gordon Gee is such a joke. He puts his foot in his mouth every chance he gets. I bet if Notre Dame were putting down Mormons Gee wouldn't be happy.

Yes it does. Grant didn't qualify academically for the SEC, but he did qualify for the OSU / Big10

OSU is right below Florida, Maryland is right below Louisville. The B1G went after Maryland. Gee cracks on Louisville. smh

    Huh?

#19 University of Maryland–College Park College Park, MD

    #87 University of Louisville
    Louisville, KY

Then, there are 4 B1G schools before you get to the first SEC school.

Really? Because a guy lacked a math credit to be a transfer into the SEC but the B1G didn't require that extra math credit, makes the SEC automatically better academically? Yeah ok

Outside of Vandy and Florida, the SEC is not a solid academic conference, that's fair to say.
However, for the President of a university to say that makes no sense. It would be like the CEO of a Fortune 500 company ripping another company. It is just something a President does not do. It is unbecoming of the office to make comments like that. Plain and simple.

And, the ND comments are a disgrace. Gee knows that the state, and Columbus, is heavily Catholic, yet he makes those dumb comments. Those comments serve no purpose. OSU and ND usually have some sort of uneasy understanding. We don't play them, they don't play us, you do your thing, we will do ours. One of the reasons, I believe Woody never scheduled them. He did not want to unpset the Catholic OSU fans.

But, bottom line, the President of a University should not be making those types of comments.
Gee needs to go back speaking on OSU's academic record, which is climbing, and a great story for the largest public institution.
  • fan_from_texas
I thought it was pretty funny. Obviously it was all tongue-in-cheek and good-natured. Maybe dumb to say, but still pretty funny.
  • Azubuike24
    I saw this.

I'll just in and mention that even Kentucky isn't one of the bottom 3-5 SEC schools. A few of the deep south schools are downright pitiful.
  • ironman02
Seems like it was probably taken out of context, but he needs to be smarter than that. He probably didn't think the comments would be repeated in public, but it looks bad on Ohio State. Gee needs to keep his mouth shut from now on.
