Oklahoma State has a 1-5 record against the RPI Top 25 and finished the season with a 6-10 record down the stretch. That is not the makings of a bona fide single-digit seed.SportsAndLady;1590167 wrote:Oklahoma state has 1 poor loss. Arkansas has 7. That pretty much says it all.
Arkansas has done just as much to warrant discussion as an NCAA team (say a 12 seed) as Oklahoma State has done to warrant an 8 or 9. At best, the Cowboys are an 11 or 12 based on their record down the stretch. The Cowboys have one, maybe two good wins in the entire last month and a half of the season. They are right on par with Arkansas. -
reclegend22The only reason Oklahoma State will end up in that nine seed position is because of the possibility of them meeting a one seed in round two. It is not because they deserve it.
-
Azubuike24I'm not comparing the two at all. Arkansas is where they should be and don't deserve anything. That's not the argument.
Here's an interesting one. Compare Illinois' wins and "bad" losses to Oklahoma State. OSU is not even one of the last 12 in and Illinois isn't even one of the last 8 out. Are there really 20+ spots separating these teams?
Illinois:
SOS: 27
18-13 record, 8-11 in the B1G
3-8 vs the top 50
9-11 vs the top 100.
Their only "bad losses" are at Northwestern and vs Purdue.
They also beat UNLV, Missouri in the non-conference along with wins over Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska and at Minnesota. -
Azubuike24Illinois, at one point, lost 10 of 11.
Oklahoma State, at one point, lost 8 of 9.
Amazingly, look at these 2 teams and their seasons almost parallel each other. More evidence to show there shouldn't be 20+ spots separating them.
It's ridiculous. OSU is there because they were preseason top 10 and have one of the best (and now most controversial players) in the country. -
ralphus33I agree that OK State will get in as a double digit seed. Arkansas has some nice wins and may get some consideration, but if they do, all the committee will have to do is look at their lack of effort in scheduling and poor performance away from home and they will be out. Zero non-conference road games and a 4-9 road/neutral record isn't going to get in.
-
reclegend22My main argument is that Oklahoma State does not deserve to play in an 8/9 game and they don't. They did nothing even remotely close to warranting that. They should be forced to play a five, six or seven seed in the first round. Oklahoma State beat one RPI Top 25 team in five tries, lost seven games in a row in February and finished 6-10 down the stretch. They deserve no favors at all.
My gripe is that they are getting put in an 8/9 simply based on the ratings of a possible showdown with a one seed in round two. That's how the committee works, though. -
Azubuike24Honestly, I could see Kentucky a 7, Oklahoma State a 10...vs Duke, a 2. They could show a ton of Travis Ford highlights at UK, a ton of drama about Smart and then work the whole UK or Ford angle in against the Dukies. I mean, this shit isn't a fluke...we all know they love ratings.

Honestly, I just want to see Duke-Kentucky III, so I am down for it, even though I would initially hate seeing that when the brackets are announced. We were deprived in 2001 when USC knocked off Kentucky and again about five other times lol.Azubuike24;1590178 wrote:Honestly, I could see Kentucky a 7, Oklahoma State a 10...vs Duke, a 2. I am becoming increasingly convinced that Duke will be shipped East as a two seed to await either Kentucky or UConn in round two. If the current mocks hold, though, Duke will have its hands full with Eastern Kentucky in round one. EKU is full of quick guards who can pressure and shoot. It's a nightmare of mine. -
MulvaNot that West Virginia really had a shot, but they're getting rolled by Texas.
Xavier and Marquette in a tight one on FS1. -
Midstate01That's a bad loss for iowa
-
reclegend22Iowa basically strapped a suicide vest to itself and pressed explode. After finishing the year 1-6, I'm not sure they'd get my vote of confidence if I were on the selection committee. That's just awful. Iowa rounds the year out 5-9 since late January.
-
reclegend22UConn embarrassing Memphis in Memphis, up 61 to 39. Not a real good showing for Josh Pastner in his home-town tourney.
-
SportsAndLadyImportant win for Xavier

Sure was. That gets them in.SportsAndLady;1590206 wrote:Important win for Xavier -
Laley23There are so many teams this year that I have no clue what to do with. Just in the 5/6 games I watched yesterday: UCONN; Memphis; Iowa; OKST; Pittsburgh; Minny. All of them could make a run and win 2-3 games in the NCAAs (more likely none will make the E8, but its possible). But, at the same time, they could all lose to Wofford in RD1 lol

GOONx19ESPN has a headline of some moron UK fan who got a national championship tattoo. Why do they give these people the publicity?
-
Azubuike24Zero shot for Illinois.
Fading chances now for Florida State. -
Azubuike24Crazy win for the St. Bonnies as they hit a sweet three to knock off top seed St. Louis. Another team playing well, that could steal a bid.
-
MulvaSF Austin down 70-68 in the Southland semis. 18-0 in conference play during the season.
-
Midstate01This Kansas Iowa State game is fantastic!
-
Midstate01Iowa State missed 2 very easy layups there.
