College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

Tony Parker has been the key for UCLA, IMO. He has gone from many talking bust to possibly turning into a behemoth in the near future in quick fashion. Agreed that next year, if all return, the Bruins will one of the heavy favorites in the fall.

As for Utah and Arizona, winning at the McKale Center is on par with penetrating Fort Knox. You have to play a near flawless game to overcome the "conditions." Utah is cooked. Great effort, though. Led 12 to 2 at the onset.

Arizona on a 12 to 2 run right now to go up 10 with under 4 minutes to go. Pisses me off too because I have Utah +14 in a single bet and as part of a couple of parlays and they're all I need to finish it off. Such bullshit. This is a 24-point turnaround right now. Utah just fell apart. Fuck.

    Had a 10-game teaser, $12 to win $180. 8 wins down...

    Minnesota +3.5
    Toledo -4

    That's how the cookie crumbles...haha.

Well, Utah loses by nine. Feel bad for the Utes, though, because there were a lot of questionable calls down the stretch that turned this game into a near-double digit win for the Wildcats. The final score is incredibly deceptive. The Utes had this game.

Still like Arizona as the best team in the country -- not every win is a thing of beauty -- and am firm in my belief that, if the rest of the country doesn't bring their A games, the 'Cats could walk to a title in March. But Utah is a very good team. Will be a dangerous team in March if they are able to collect enough conference wins to get in the dance. A loss tonight really hurts that pursuit, though.

Feel that. I lost as well on both Toledo and Minnesota in separate parlays earlier. Only losses.

    But 10 games, damn..

I would've gotten really lucky on Cincinnati -3 as well. They blew a massive lead and barely won by that. So, needed some luck on both sides.

Yes, that's Mississippi State's coach dropping the "fuck you" toward Mr. Henderson in the background LOL.

  • reclegend22
    Very professional. Lol.

Chane Behanan transferring to Colorado State. Pretty ironic given their recent laws passed and Chane's problems that got him in trouble to begin with.

    Shocking move here.

Does the NCAA have a stipulation against marijuana usage? Maybe he can only blaze before home games. This could be the greatest performance split study in a while.
  • Laley23
I think it's an NCAA rule, just like an NFL rule. You test positive, your still fucked...you just won't go to jail or have any legal ramifications.
  • Azubuike24
Haha, lets see. Larry Eustachy and a state where weed is legal? Maybe he planned the whole exit from UofL!
  • birddog23
This is Duke's best game thus far IMO
  • Azubuike24
Agree. Just competitive enough on the boards and inside to be a threat. Combine that with deadly shooting, and they can contend with anyone.

It was at home.... But Oklahoma looked good taking down OSU

It's time for everyone to take notice that the big 12 is the best conference in basketball.

Best conference record in the OOC and #1 conference for rpi.
  • reclegend22
It's sort of ironic that the Big XII is arguably the best conference in basketball this season despite one of its three pre-season AP Top 25 teams (Baylor) being 1-5 in conference play. The Coaches Poll didn't have Baylor ranked at all, though, as coaches know best how important, well, coaching is.

Scott Drew is such a horrible coach. Like you said the other day, the fact that he robs recruits of their commits is almost criminal.

No. It's close but I think the level of teams in the B1G is higher and it's a little deeper, might be an 8-9 bid league
  • Laley23
The B1G is just overrated. Ohio State isn't they great, nor is Wisconsin (despite what rec will tell you). Iowa, Michigan and Michigan St are all legit. Then OSU & Wisconsin are ok. Minny, Indiana, Illinois and Purdue are average to bad. Nebraska, PSU and Northwestern...just there lol.

The B1G is not getting 8-9 teams.

This. Good conference. But slightly overrated and not the #1 conference this year. Easily second best though.

I would like to know which 8-9 teams from the big ten are making the tourney.

That's 75% of the conference lol there's no way

Wisconsin's average defense has certainly caught up to them, but their offense, when clicking, is as good as any in the Big Ten. If Bo Ryan can get his group to up the level on the other end of the floor, they'll be a tough out in the Dance. I think they are a Elite Eight quality team, and once there, who knows.

I think they'll turn it around after that mini-skid. Wisconsin has all the ingredients. A star-studded front-court, solid guard play, guys who do not turn the ball over (led the country though mid-January in fewest give-aways a game), and great three-point shooting. I certainly wouldn't group them in with Ohio State just yet. They're a better team with better overall talent.
  • Laley23
Im just surprised you cant see the glaring flaw of this team...they cant defend, and its not something that can really be fixed. They are slow and unathletic. There is a reason why Bo is pushing the pace this year and trying to score a lot. He isnt going to win many games in a half-court set.

I keep going back to the Indiana game. Evan Gordon, Yogi and Stan Robinson got to the rim at will. I think combined they took like 36 shots inside of 5 feet. Thats just pathetic. Anyone with quick, athletic guards/wings will have their way with Wisconsin. Lucky for them, Indiana probably has the best combination of athletic wings in the B1G, so they wont have to deal with it too often. But that is what the NCAAs are made of. I could see them going down in the first weekend again if they face a mid-major or average major with quick guards and wings.
