    Vander Blue and Reggie Bullock...
  • Azubuike24
Copied directly from RR. From Chad Ford...people called it overblown when guys wanted to avoid the competition of next year's "stacked draft" and enter this year's "weak draft", but it's becoming a reality.

"So far, only 2 players in our Top 30 - Willie Cauley-Stein & Alex
Poythress - are returning to school. That has to be some kind of record"

"Apparently underclassmen are getting the memo that next year's draft class is loaded … but it's not THAT loaded."

"Just cleaned up In and Out of NBA Draft file. 30 NCAA underclassmen have declared."

"Just one player in our Top 5 -- Marcus Smart -- has not declared."

"Other big names we're waiting on: Shabazz Muhammad, Kelly Olynyk, Gary Harris, Isaiah Austin, Glen Robinson III, Mitch McGary, Adreian Payne"

"New Big Board. Noel still No. 1 but lots of shake-ups after that..."

There is no doubt that next's year's class is looming large in the minds of the 2013 field. I imagine that, when it's all said and done, Doug McDermott will be the only major upperclassman to return. We're still waiting the verdict on a couple of the bigger guys, but they'd be fucking crazy to come back. There's no doubt in my mind that if this year's class would have been as stacked as next year's, Mason Plumlee would have left Duke after three years.

Next year is going to be so much fun with all the new talent. Cannot wait.

This puts UNC right in the convo for AW. The guy who most affected his role (not that anyone really is going to impact his game) was Bullock.

I would've guessed him to be the LEAST likely to leave...shows what we know.

    Great news for UNC

Same here. I fully expected Bully and PJ to return. Of course I02 reminded me of the kid situation, so it definitely makes sense.

JMM coming back is such good news.

It really came down to his family situation...young child, very poor family. Plus this year's draft will be weaker than next year's, and he has had knee problems in the past so I'm sure that played a factor as well. Hopefully he ends up in the first round, catches on with a team, and has a successful career. Danny Green seems like a good comparison here. If things turn out for Bullock the way they did for Green, then Reggie should be sitting pretty good in the future.

Isn't it funny, referencing what I posted above...the draft is "weak", yet it has forced everyone and their mother to declare. That doesn't mean the draft overall is stronger, but because of sheer numbers, it makes the spots that much more coveted. Ironic how this stuff works...like economics.

    Marcus Smart coming back.
  • Azubuike24
@WojYahooNBA Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart will return for his sophomore season, sources tell Y! Sports. He could've been a top 5 pick in NBA Draft.

Crazy. Travis ford gets Marcus Smart for 2 years and LeBryan Nash for 3?

Will he do ANYTHING with it?

  • ironman02
Wow, can't believe that Smart is coming back. I thought it was weird that he hadn't declared yet...now I see why.
  • Laley23
Thats nuts. Can Oklahoma State knock of Bill Selfs reign???

    I highly doubt it.
  • wildcats20
Billy could send 5 ball boys out there and win the Big 12. It's nuts.

Oklahoma State becomes a player. Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State (if Adrienne Payne returns), Arizona, Syracuse, Florida, UNC (with Wiggins. If Wiggins signs, then UNC catapults to the top three) and Oklahoma State appear to be the big players, and then Louisville, Marquette, Ohio State and Kansas should all be in the mix.

There are going to be A LOT of filthy teams.
  • reclegend22
Of course, Michigan is still a huge unknown. When are these guys gonna make their minds up. Really anxious to put all the pieces together for next season.
  • Laley23
Yeah, next year is not a good year to have Will Sheehey be your best offensive player. lol

I hope Crean can work his developmental magic again with Jeremy Hollowell and Hanner Perea. Gonna need those guys to become viable Big Ten players. Jeremy to be a stud and Hanner to be able to compete and play 25 minutes.

Well today was the NCAA deadline....

    For whatever that means...
  • reclegend22
It means nothing. I don't even know why they have it.

The April 28 NBA deadline is all that matters for the most part.

Maybe somebody else can clarify if they know more.

Basically you can put your name in the draft, withdraw by today, and still maintain your eligibility.

If you declare after today, you have to stay in the draft.

You could conceivably say nothing up until the 28th and take the extra time to decide. At that point, you could stay in school since you never declared, or leave for the NBA.

So what is the benefit of declaring before the college deadline? Even if you declare very early on in the process, you still can't get direct information from NBA teams, correct? So I just don't see why any player would care about the college deadline. Besides, if they are going to declare and announce that they are declaring, 10 times out of 10 they are going to stay in the draft. JMO.
