T'eo's girlfriend death a hoax?

I think the truth lies somewhere in between. But as you said, the story will die and we will probably never know the actual truth.
I agree. I don't think he was behind it, but he embellished the story to project his good guy image.

My biggest problem (besides the embellishment) is with him not attempting to visit his "girlfriend" while she was in the hospital. Not only did he not visit her, but he told Schapp that it didn't even cross his mind. I mean we see athletes visit sick children and fans in the hospital all the time. The joy in those individual's faces is undeniable. Yet, Teo, whose love of his life is in the hospital, doesn't even think that it would be a good idea to visit her. More importantly, whether he embellished it or not, he supposedly believes that he is the love of her life, and by his own account, his voice on the phone alone helped her improve. It is almost reprehensible that this man that projects an image of faith, values, and conviction does not even THINK about visiting this dying woman. It's cliche, but actions (or inaction) speaks louder than words, and I believe that this situation is a prime example.

My problem is Te'o didn't come right out and do a presser as soon as the news came out. If you have nothing to hide, that's definitely the best way to go. Instead, he took several days to sculpt his story for an off camera interview. I don't think he was in on it from the beginning, but I think he found out about it much earlier than he is claiming, and used it for the publicity. Like others have said though, we may never know. I seriously doubt NFL GM's will believe his account of the story though.

Pretty much sums up my take on this as well. He didn't start it, be he sure perpetuated it, and parlayed it into lots of awards. He is very talented for sure, but, IMO, the sympathy vote played a part as well.

By "very talented" you mean being irrelevant in the title game? Look what happened to Troy Smith, sucked it up in the championship game and dropped to the 5th round. Te'o isn't as talented as Troy and thus he will drop.

I meant very talented, as in a very talented football player throughout the season. Yes he, like TS, sucked in their respective NC games, but that didn't diminish the seasons they had. Btw, my post was referring to his garnering sympathy votes that enhanced his chances of winning the various awards he collected, and nothing to do with his draft status.

3rd at best LB in the country. Didn't deserve any awards.

Apparently he did an interview with Katie Couric. During this interview he admits that he did perpetuate the lie after discovering that she wasn't real.

In an attempt to justify it he says this:
Katie, put yourself in my situation. I, my whole world told me that she died on Sept. 12. Everybody knew that. This girl, who I committed myself to, died on Sept. 12," Te'o said.

If the girl who I committed myself to died, I would have at least attended her funeral. I don't understand how a man of such moral character, trustworthiness and faith doesn't even attend the funeral of the girl he committed himself to. Or how does he not even attempt to visit her grave or her family or something.

This - doesn't visit after terrible car crash, bout with cancer, or attend funeral. He's an idiot who's just saying what lawyers are telling him to say.

Is this guy serious? Who the hell calls someone their girlfriend("love of his life") after 4 years of never meeting? He was apart of the hoax and used it to win awards that he didn't deserve. Thankfully the NFL scouts see through his bullshit and will punish him in the draft accordingly. I mean, what GM wants a drama queen?

And honestly, if Te'o is 100% telling the truth(hint: he's not) the guy who did the hoax is the greatest prankster of all time. I want to meet him and/or hire him. If anyone knows this guy personally, get him in touch with me.

I refuse to read anything by that hack. I'm pissed I even clicked on the link, giving her "clicks". SMFH vball, give us some heads up next time before you post a dumbass Jemele Hill article.

To me, it's not that he didn't attend the funeral, it's that he never visited her at all when she was in the hospital. I mean the sound of his voice alone was enough to help her improve from her car accident/coma, but the "thought never cross his mind" to visit her when she was dying/had died. It doesn't take a person with much moral character to visit a dying person, let alone the love of his life. His actions and words are quite discrepant.

she told him she didn't want him to come and neither did her family. supposedly he was told, promise me you'll play and that you'll send white roses (which he said after the Michigan game and has repeated). NY Daily News has the receipt for 3 dozen white roses from 1800flowers.com from Te'o to her "brother."

ESPN also has AT&T phone records showing thousands of calls to and from Te'o to a 661 area code phone number, which is LA county. 110 of those were over an hour long several were over several hundred minutes long.

Did she also tell him never to visit her while she was dying? Did she also tell him not to Skype, Facetime, or whatever else there is? She she also tell him not to visit the family, her grave, or anything after she did? Did she also tell him to move on to a new girl as quickly as possible, even though they were the love each other's lives?

BUT he sent flowers from 1800flowers.com. What a sweetheart.

So you apparently haven't read anything related to the story and have only heard what you want to hear.

I've read the entire story. What was I wrong about? Did he not say that visiting her while sick "didn't even cross his mind?" Did he not somehow avoid a skype or any of sort of video chat with her? Did he not have a girlfriend(a real one) within a month or two of her death?

Look I don't think he was behind it, but he has built himself as a man of faith and strong morals, yet his actions (national interview aside), have not been consistent with that. He has admitted to lying and his actions(when the cameras weren't on) do not seem consistent with his words. At best he's a lying hypocrite who lacks common sense and critical thinking. But your're right, I am the only that is only hearing what I want to hear.

LOL...if I girl I loved told me not to come see her when she was dying, that would be the moment I knew A) we weren't in love or B) it isn't real. Even if she told me that, there's no way in hell I wouldn't be there to see her ASAP.

Nope you're wrong. Common sense is not allowed.

Please, there were multiple opportunities for him to visit as previosuly mentioned while she was in the hospital. Even if he was urged not to go to the funeral, he could have made time to make his way out there afterwards.

You're really buying that someone as supposedly of such moral character and piousness as him wouldn't have made an effort for someone he committed himself too? Either he's a fraud in the moral aspect or a liar with his subsequent stories.

    And this.

Just stop buying the company line from ND and think a second for yourself.

I don't know if you're married or not. But imagine you're on a business trip of some sort that's semi-important (hell, imagine even it's the opportunity of a life time). Now you get news your significant other is dying, but he/she tells you to stay and finish the business trip. Is there ANY chance in hell that you immediately don't excuse yourself and find a way to either see him/her or at least be there shortly after and for the funeral?

    Not in South Bend.
