You do it a lot. It's lazy and bush league.

Oh. Cost of living in Hawaii means Manti could have flown to California. No spinning.

You forgot the part where I mentioned he was on full ride at ND. Then I went even further and referred to the love of her life being on her deathbed. Full ride to ND from Hawaii, back and forth, 4 years of school.... but yeah....he probably couldn't afford it.

You just pulled your act several posts ago with Manhattan Buckeye.

I don't give two shits about Te'o, and have no fucks to give about Notre Dame, but the reality is pretty clear and evident. An overwhelming majority feel Te'o, though duped early on, maintained the charade following his becoming aware, online poll conducted on the Dan Patrick show...like 85%. Notre Dame handled it very poorly, don't think anyone wants to touch the defense of that one. The media, despite not doing any due dillegence to verify their feelz good story, ran with it anyway..."why fact check any of this shit? it's fuckin' Notre Dame! No need there!"

The "reality" is Notre Dame is going to fuckin' suffer for this. Period. MSNBC ran a piece last night...Notre Shame, dragging skeletons out of the closet, rape victims and sexual misconduct that was swept under the rug (their assertion, not mine). All because some fucktard had a fake girlfriend and lied about it after he became aware.

    There's your REALITY...deal with it.

    A bit harsh, but accurate.

This. Not sure how they should have went about it, but the way they did wasn't it.

Given the kid gloves they've been treated with in the past I'm not sure why they would have considered doing anything differently. Deadspin broke this...not NBC, not ESPN, yahoo or Sports Illustrated...Deadspin. Should be a bit telling as to how they chose to go about it in the first place. Afterall, it's not like anyone "credible" was doin anything about it.

I don't think they handled it very well but what would you have them do differently? Found out December 26th, hired a firm to investigate, received report from investigation on Jan. 5th if I recall correctly, and then had a BCS title game to play on Jan. 7. I don't blame them a bit for not coming out with it before any investigating was done nor do I have an issue with them not going public with it prior to the title game as that would have a huge media circus and extremely distracting (not like it mattered because they got their asses kicked but that's hindsight). Then, they should have come out with it a day or two after the title game. That is where they mishandled it IMO. Of course, then the Kelly-Philly stuff started too. I don't think ND did a complete botch-job of all this but Manti on the other hand.....

Needless to say, 2013 hasn't been kind to Irish fans.

I'm not sure how credible any mainstream sports media is. Have you guys read Doyel's (CBS Sports) column about how the Cowboys were cruel to Brent because they banned him from the sideline? A guy killed his friend, committed a felony, will probably go to jail for at least a few years and the Cowboys were wrong for cutting off ties with him? That was the weirdest column I've read.

They only banned him from the sidelines because they got heat for allowing him on the sidelines (was "great" to see him laugh and joke around on the sideline days after killing his friend....yeah, he looked real "upset"), but that is another discussion.

Agreed, I just couldn't believe what Doyel wrote and that any type of senior editor allowed that column. I know Boomer can be a bit opinionated but, wow, but to your point that is another discussion entirely.

Thus the "quotes" around credible. Mainstream hangs their hat on due dillegence and fact checking but look like asshats when it's found they did none of it to begin with. Their agendas and feelz good crap supercede anything of relevance. Now they're jumping on the bandwagon to divert attention away from the fact that they ran with bullshit and spilled all over the place...

I for one believe that Te'o didn't start this, nor was he in on the hoax, but it just seems there's still something that's not being revealed. Call it a gut feeling, but something's not right.

Why isn't anybody talking about what tate brought up earlier? How did he get direct messages over 144 characters from someone he doesn't follow? Am I overlooking something or did his crisis team just overlook something that simple?

Honestly, I think the link is pretty well-written and fair based on what we know at this point. A lot can change with more info/evidence coming out but I think that folks on either "side" of this would have some difficulty taking issue with what Wetzel said there.

Just remember..when asked why Te'o never visited the "love of his life" while she was dying, its because "it never crossed his mind".

I agree 100%. Just found it funny that what Wetzel said is basically exactly what I suggested as a possibility. And I got completely hammered for it. Even down to the lying to his parents because he was embarrassed.

Obviously there are still questions, like the DMs longer than 140 characters. And new information could completely change things. But for now it looks like Manti is guilty of lying out of embarrassment. Still bad, but not nearly as bad as concocting the whole story.

I'm about done with this story. However, from what has come out the last 2 days, I'm actually starting to believe Manti Te'o is really A) that naive, B) that stupid, C) has no idea how to handle a relationship and D) actually a victim. With that said, I'm starting to believe the dupe.

As I've maintained though, the people who pulled this off should be glorified and celebrated in the media for literally fooling an entire University and a huge portion of the national media. We're talking some influential media members, athletes and public figures. They deserve credit, not ridicule.

BTW, this is funny stuff. The team has announced a giveaway to the first 1,000 fans a Manti Te'o's girlfriend bobblehead night.

Wasn't the full quote. I can't believe that is how ESPN handled releasing the interview, giving partial quotes at a time, but at the same time I can.

    That is absolutely ridiculous.

South Bend newspaper says that the ND investigation only consisted of public records search. No interviews were performed.
