You can make a good living majoring in anything. Your point?Laley23;1333244 wrote:You can make a really good living off Graphic Design (about 55-65k on average) and it is very low stress work, and quite fun. If you get into Computer Graphics with it, and can apply it to sports production, it is not only profitable but extremely fun.
Graphic design doesn't exactly scream "academics" like SJ would like to believe all ND players care about. -

athlete37I can speak to a couple of things. One, in my first year section of 75 students the were nine other domers besides myself. The hostility certainly doesn't exist on the academic world, although we have tended to form a cliche that, now as third years, we invite the lower year ND alumni to game-watches and intramural teams.
Next, the ND football team in general is pretty good about grades, but there are always exceptions. Their GPA as a whole was often times better than that of the entire student body, and on a couple occasions mine. That being said, Weis was given four to five academic exceptions per recruiting class and most of them ended up majoring in sociology. I know this because it was my second major in prep for Law. A lot of them were good guys, most of them, but a few cocky ones too-- see Joe Fauria especially. Some good ones like Golden (who still will wish me a happy birthday) and Aldridge, as opposed to maybe Mike Floyd who had been to everyone of our parties his sophomore year yet acted confused when he saw me in Chicago Miami weekend.
Next, I am very good friends with someone who played at Ohio State recently and I can tell you that academics were important to Tressel. The only way to work out at Woody Hayes was to have earned your degree. Having said that, there were also a lot of teammates who our friend did not like in the slightest.
I am very happy in Columbus, and have enjoyed my three years here. I think my classmates and I have developed a mutual respect for each others teams. I do have to say that there have been times that I have taken a lot of unnecessary shit on the street for simply wearing my Notre Dame stuff, but it is amazing how quickly that can stop when you don't give up 500 yards to Denard -
athlete37Hope that helps

Am I the only one who when reading an argument, sees someone defend their stance with "Well my friends..." and just disregards the rest? You could have saved the effort. I really don't care what the football players at OSU or ND major in; they are not there for academics, they are there to win championships(well at OSU, at ND they are there to lose bowl game).sjmvsfscs08;1333305 wrote:Well his und.com account says differently.

AutomatikThe OSU football team isn't full of merit scholars?! OMG WHO KNEW?!

One team is playing for a championship, the other is staying home because they got busted taking illegal benefits and the program covered it up so that they could attempt to win. That says a lot.sleeper;1333478 wrote:You could have saved the effort. Listen, he asked why I root for Notre Dame over Ohio State and that is the reason. I love the idea of the #1 school in the country also being #1 in graduation rate. I don't like the idea of college football being solely a minor league system.
The bolded part says everything for me. -

ND is the most hated university in the country and it's because of their arrogant pompous holier-than-thou fans. Now, don't get me wrong OSU(and every other school has similar fans) but at least at OSU they win games. At ND, it's been 20 years since they've won games and you still deal with this type of fans.I am very happy in Columbus, and have enjoyed my three years here. Tiernan"Illegal Benefits"? ...they were selling / trading shit that had been given to them. Wrong? Yes. But if Jimmy The Liar had come clean when he first heard of it, worst case is 5 guys miss first two games against two MAC schools and OSU is kicking ND's ass in Miami on Jan 8 the same way we've kicked your ass the past 3x they played.
