Any Notre Dame Grads On Here?
-
Mooney44CardsI'm Irish and Catholic, raised by ND fans, and my sister went there.
I didn't get in. Went to Xavier. -

Wondering that too. I came out of the RRod years still a Michigan fan. I'm pretty sure I'm a fan for life.GoChiefs;1332659 wrote:Serious question, how does your love of a team just fade away? Especially during successful times? I dunno, I just can't imagine a scenario that would make me lose the desire to support the teams I root for. -

Same here.
And a Browns fan.
Sigh. Shoot me now. -

Isn't that sad? Your parents indoctrinate you in certain aspects like religion and school affiliation and you are "punished" for not following suit.Laley23;1332711 wrote:Went to Indiana University. Born in Ft. Wayne. Catholic. Try being from Northern Indiana, Catholic and NOT root for ND lol. -

"Also, I have a friend who goes to Notre Dame and ironically says the same thing about the football players there. They bang every chick in sight, cheat in the classroom, and seem to get all sorts of "benefits" not given to other players. But no, it only happens at Ohio State."sleeper;1332657 wrote:I know zero people that go to ND. My friend got a scholarship offer from there and turned it down to go to Ohio State. Best decision of his life.

Pretend like a really large chunk of all Buckeye fans didn't graduate from OSU.Tiernan;1332643 wrote:Its very common knowledge that 99.9% of Irish "fans" did not attend ND. And 95% of that 99.9% couldn't find South Bend on a map if you gave them it was in Indiana. -

You can walk in any sports bar in America yell "OH" and someone will yell "IO" back and usually that person or a family member went to OSU. Not so with ND. They will give you some obtuse answer about being Catoleigh or Irish or their Dad almost went there, but have no real affiliation.FatHobbit;1332794 wrote:Pretend like a really large chunk of all Buckeye fans didn't graduate from OSU. -

Ohio State has ~57,000 undergrads. Notre Dame has ~11,000Tiernan;1332842 wrote:You can walk in any sports bar in America yell "OH" and someone will yell "IO" back and usually that person or a family member went to OSU. Not so with ND. Those answers aren't any more obtuse than "Well...I'm from Ohio, so of course I cheer for Ohio State." Because that's the answer I hear from a lot of OSU fans.Tiernan;1332842 wrote:You can walk in any sports bar in America yell "OH" and someone will yell "IO" back and usually that person or a family member went to OSU. AutomatikSo what's the verdict?
1 ND grad? I'm shocked! -
martyirishIrish-Catholic who wasn't smart enough to get into ND.
But as you can see by my pic I spent some great years there. -
sherm03
Why is that shocking? Only about 24% of the people that apply to Notre Dame get accepted. Then if you do happen to get in, you're looking at costs of around $55,000/year. So unless you get a boat load of financial aid, you are going to struggle to pay the bills there.Automatik;1332851 wrote:So what's the verdict?

But only people who went there are allowed to be fans. Better tell all those people in Youngstown that never went to YSU to quit cheering for the Penquins. -

Talk about a joke -

Not mad man. It takes a lot more than that to get me mad. Just pointing out that it isn't all that shocking that a lot of Notre Dame fans aren't graduates of the University given the circumstances.Automatik;1332858 wrote:Don't get so mad.
Now if they accepted just about any dumbass that applied, and it was affordable to go there, then it would be shocking. But that's not the case. -
AutomatikThat post was sarcasm. I'm aware that about 1% of ND fans are graduates.

like_thatOnly 1 grad? LOL not surprised.

killer_ewokUnfortunately, I am not a Notre Dame alum. Graduated from Franciscan University in Steubenville. Have been to 3 Notre Dame Spring Practice games in 1990, 1991, 2007 and football camp back in 1994. Been to 1 regular season game which was the last game at old Pitt Stadium (ND lost).
Funny thing about camp....got to meet Lou Holtz and take a picture with him. I told him my name and where I was from and he said,"Steubenville, huh? Tell Reno I said hi." As many of you probably know, Reno Saccoccia is the head coach at Steubenville Big Red. I attended High School at Steubenville Catholic Central (us and Big Red had a heated rivalry on the gridiron at that time). Needless to say, I never relayed the message to Reno.
I know...cool story, bro. -

I lived in Steubenville. Not sure why I would go all the way to Bellaire St. John's for High School...?
