We'll do 'em all, since they may impact BCS schools.ts1227;1329188 wrote:He'll take whoever the best team is that offers. Don't kid yourself.
Also Jon Embree is out at Colorado

Not sure if we're doing BCS schools here or all of D1, but Western Michigan whacked Bill Cubit last week (they played their last game on 11/17, losing to EMU, and fired him a couple hours later). Also Mike Price is resigning/reitring at UTEP.
Idaho shitcanned Robb Akey midseason, so technically it's open I think. Interim Jason Gesser was not formally awarded the permanent job. yet. He may end up getting it, but they may interview others. -
Pick6The WMU coach was canned as well.

sjmvsfscs08On the Tressel front, doesn't he work in the Akron Ath Dept?
He has a ton of years in the Ohio PERS system via Youngstown State and Ohio State, if he gets retirement and gets ~75-80% of the average of his five highest years....why on Earth would you even think about taking an out-of-state job? You're already a legend in Ohio, and will get 3/4 or 4/5 of your Ohio State pay FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. -

No, but you make a good point regarding his State of Ohio benefits.sjmvsfscs08;1329640 wrote:On the Tressel front, doesn't he work in the Akron Ath Dept?

dwccrewWould like to see Gary Pinkel get the Purdue job. Just my personal view, I haven't heard anything about him even considering that option or if Purdue would even offer. I just always liked Pinkel when he was at Toledo and would like to see him in the B1G against another former Toledo coach (Beckman-Illinois)
-
dlazzI'd be surprised if Pinkel left Mizzou. They were riddled with injuries all year, hence their miserable record.
-
WebFireDoesn't sound like Pinkel is going anywhere.

Not sure how much retirement benefits mean to someone that is a multimillionaire. I would imagine he's pretty well set up for retirement, but does a guy like Tress ever really retire? There will always be money for him to make outside football.vball10set;1329651 wrote:No, but you make a good point regarding his State of Ohio benefits.

Then I suggest you read the transcript of the press conference announcing his firing. The AD basically rips apart the athletic department and how small the budget is and how they may not be able to compete in their new conference. The AD is a moron. He basically just admitted how shitty the facilities and budget is there and then is going to start looking for a coach to sign a contract there?jordo212000;1329203 wrote:Saw that Embree and the Colorado players were very surprised that he was fired. That in itself surprised me.
The program is in much worse shape than it was with Dan Hawkins. They were one of the worst teams in college football this season.
Lot of small stories coming out about how bad it was at Colorado this year. Guess they didn't have enough chairs for the offensive linemen to watch film and didn't get them until week 9.
Also, Embree says he had to buy water every week for the coaching staff and the university wouldn't reimburse him for it.
Basically, Embree should have gotten more than 2 seasons given those circumstances. I'm not sure how you expect to put a good product on the field with that kind of budget. -
Azubuike24Kentucky hires FSU defensive coordniator Mark Stoops. Eh...

wasnt Stoops a failure at 'Zona? Dont see him competing in the SEC if he cant win in the Pac 12.Azubuike24;1330585 wrote:Kentucky hires FSU defensive coordniator Mark Stoops. Eh...

UK's not only in the SEC, but in a state that lives and breathes hoops like no other....good luck with that, Coach Stoops.Azubuike24;1330585 wrote:Kentucky hires FSU defensive coordniator Mark Stoops. Eh... -

Exclusive: SbB has learned Arkansas is engaged w/ reps of the interests of Les Miles & a $5-yr $27.5M offer is on the table -
Azubuike24What would be interesting, would be whether or not LSU would respond if it was true.
Les would be stupid to leave LSU for Arkansas. However, LSU could potentially find another coach if they are throwing anywhere close to that amount of money around... -
jordo212000Miles seems to always come up with open jobs. Going for new contracts?
-
Azubuike24It seems one of the benefits of hiring Stoops for UK will be with a direct impact to take some current and potential recruits already committed to FSU.
