Very true, and I don't think Donovan minds the fact they're sort of "flying under the radar" (if you can say that about a 6th rated team-lol), at least for the time being. Lot's of good teams out there, but there's a lot of season left, and teams not only have to continue to get better, but they have to stay healthy as well.

I did, and nowhere do I see where anyone predicts Craft to be first team B1G, so I'll ask you again--where did 'many on here predict Craft to be "1st tm all big ten"'?

There are the only 2 All Big Ten lists on this thread, unless I missed one on page 3 or something.

Also, from the Big Ten in the preseason voted on by media: http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/102512aaf.html

    Meanwhile, in the B1G...

Holy crap Illinois. I honestly thought they weren't all that special because they've struggled against somewhat lesser teams, but beating the Zags IN Spokane yesterday?! Groce just might have something very special in Champaign this year.

Was just about to post the same thing. Brandon Paul had the same kind of night against them as he did against Ohio State last year, but watching that game early on I thought Illinois was better than Gonzaga. The B1G just got even more ridiculous.

Thank you. I guess this is what Hb31187 means when he says "many", and I wonder if he realizes that these two posts came from a Minny fan and an IU fan.

Yeah, Illinois just got serious last night. I kind of just dismissed the Illini's Maui victory due to the teams they had to beat to earn it (Butler was a really good win, but the Bulldogs are far from a great team yet), but traveling across the country and going into the Kennel, where most teams go to die, is impressive. I remember hearing some crazy stat that from 1999 to 2009, the Bulldogs were 120-9 at home, including at both the old and new "Kennels." The new Kennel opened in 2004, and Gonzaga's first home loss there wasn't until 2007.

On top of that, Gonzaga is a very, very good team. As I've said before, Elias Harris and Kelly Olynyk form one of the most versatile front courts in the nation. Olynyk was great last night. The seven-footer went for 16 and 8 and demonstrated his deadly jump shooting ability from 17 feet and beyond. He hasn't caught the world on fire from three this year, but he is known for being a great long distance shooter and when he eventually finds his range, watch out.

Illinois got a great W last night.

if me exaggerating how many all big 10 lists makes you feel better about your abysmal offensive pg...so be it.

Craft will turn it on during B1G play, i have no doubts.

I do have doubts about OSU's bigs though. They are soft

If Q continues to play like he has, Craft will be able to go back to being an opportunistic scorer, which he is best suited.

Illinois was predicted 9th in the Big 10?....and now they are 10th in the country?

Groce and Ford are getting it done.
  • reclegend22
It might also be accurate to say that Bruce Weber was not getting it done. Lol.

That can be said....but look what OU became under those 2 young coaches.
  • Laley23
Ohio State also had their best years with him as an assistant.

A guy I worked with was in the Navy with Cliff Paul, and he has gone to several Illini games with Cliff and talked with Brandon over the past couple years. Even though they would never say it publicly, they liked Weber as a man, but wasn't real happy with his coaching. They were very happy when Groce got the job.

Also, the Bobcats haven't been very good this year with virtually the same players that made the run last year in the tourney. Only thing missing? Groce.

Totally agree. Just saying that I don't think Bruce Weber exactly had a bare cupboard. He just can't coach. But there is no doubting Groce's track record.

Interesting stuff. And, while I am sure Groce is more than happy with his choice to take the job in Champaign, I would have loved to have seen what he could have done with Ohio another year. With Groce at the helm, that Bobcat team might be just as good as Illinois is this year and have a real chance to get to the Final Four. Too bad for Ohio.

Looks like I'll be going not only to the OSU at MSU game but home game vs Indiana too:thumbup:

Gotta love that this conference is stacked, and that all four tickets I've bought are the same as my 1 ticket to the Nebraska game this year

Ehh, OU is still in good shape. They usually aren't that mid major that goes 30-4 and makes a sweet sixteen. They're the mid major that picks it up at the right time (March). They wouldn't be in the Tourney 2 of the last 3 years if they didn't win the Mac Tourney first. Look at their record through 9 games this year and under Groce:

    7-2 this year
    7-1 2011
    5-4 2010
    6-3 2009

They'll be fine without Groce..but Groce is a beast

Yeah, Jim Christian was an NCAA coach with Kent a few years back. Just a matter, probably, of everyone getting on the same page.

A bit off topic, but I was just looking at the Bobcats past few seasons, and wondering why the hell they can't beat Robert Morris??

If you check the MAC thread, the resident Bobcat fan here (there are a few I guess, counting Sports) gave sort of a rundown of why Ohio can't beat Robert Morris. Apparently, strange things tend to happen in that game every year preventing a Bobcat victory. Basically, Robert Morris has Ohio's number, for whatever reason.
