gorocks99How bad is Illinois? They're getting hammered by Northwestern right now.

Agreed, nice game by your Wolverines. Hope we don't have to play you in the BTT because Tubby sucks against Beilein.WebFire;1368639 wrote:Great win for Michigan tonight. -

Yeah. Losing at home to NW like that = complete collapse, especially considering that they haven't done a single thing right since beating Ohio State.gorocks99;1368618 wrote:How bad is Illinois? They're getting hammered by Northwestern right now. -

Every time I watch Illinois play, I wonder how the fuck they kicked OSU's butt that bad. Unreal.Heretic;1369180 wrote:Yeah. Losing at home to NW like that = complete collapse, especially considering that they haven't done a single thing right since beating Ohio State. -
gorocks99Ok, I'm off the ledge finally.
It's hard for me to tell with this Minnesota team if sloppy, uninspired play for stretches is the norm, or if it is more a result of the quality of teams we've lost to. Probably some combination of both at this point.
Honestly I think playing some poorer/mid-level teams will help me get a better read on where the Gophers stand. Right now I think I know we're not on the same level as Michigan and Indiana, but are we the 3rd best team, or the 6th best team? That's what I think I get to find out over the next month as the Gophs play Wisconsin twice and MSU. -
reclegend22Wisconsin might be the third best team in the Big Ten. Since losing on the road at Marquette, the Badgers have reeled off seven straight victories. Bruesewtiz, Berggeren, Evans and Dekker compose one of the more deep and formidable front courts in the country, and Traevon Jackson has really amped up his game over the last week, giving Wisconsin a reliable point guard to lead the team. I'm really high on the Badgers.
But I still really like Tubby's team and think the versatility of Rodney Williams and great point guard play of Hollins will constitute a legitimate foe for any team in the NCAA Tournament. I wouldn't sleep on the Gophers or Tubby Smith. -
vball10setThe B1G tourney's going to be wild, wish I could go this year

No shit, it's like I want to walk up to Jim Groce and ask him if he visits this site. Because it really seems like his team bought into Sleeper's "Ohio State is the best at anything forever and ever" creed and decided that because they beat the Bucks, they have nothing else to accomplish and it's cool to pack it up and never win again.vball10set;1369200 wrote:Every time I watch Illinois play, I wonder how the fuck they kicked OSU's butt that bad. Hell, Bruce Weber was famous for the fast start and then stumbling. I really don't think Groce is that bad, though. He needs to shake it up and give some of his recruits some PT.Heretic;1369410 wrote:No ****, it's like I want to walk up to Jim Groce and ask him if he visits this site. Azubuike24Penn State/Nebraska in a great battle in State College. The winner may celebrate 1 of 2 conference wins this year. The good news for both is they play again in 3 weeks. That's bad news for everyone else who may have to watch another match-up between them.

Azubuike24Penn State was down 2, got 4 shots on a flagrant + personal foul, then had possession, got fouled twice more in a 25 second span. They made 1 of 8 FT's...lost by 4. Just awful...

His assistant Dustan Ford was on the huddle....forget his name -
gorocks99A bit late on this one this week.
My rankings, week 4:
1. Michigan - Established themselves at the top of these rankings after taking care of business on the road.
2. Indiana - Hard loss to the Badgers in Bloomington. Didn't see them losing at home all year and don't think they'll lose again there.
3. Michigan State - 2-0 this past week, and get the home win over a resurgent Buckeyes team. Izzo has the team back.
4. Minnesota - Basically on par with MSU right now but two losses in a row (against top competition) have the Gophers slip just a bit.
5. Ohio State - This team remains Deshaun Thomas and everyone else not named Deshaun Thomas. They will drop some games if he has off nights.
6. Wisconsin - Best win of the season out of any B1G team in Indiana - followed by dropping their game at Iowa. Life in the B1G is hard.
7. Iowa - Two in a row after dropping their first three. Big week, @ OSU and @ Purdue - can they salvage a split?
8. Purdue - Had the only non-conference test this week and passed with flying colors. Game against Michigan looming large though.
9. Northwestern - The Cats got some fight in them, notching a road win and being marginally tougher than expected against Indiana. Big home game against Minnesota on Wednesday.
10. Illinois - I mean really, what happened??
11. Nebraska - Congratulations to Tim Miles on his first B1G win. He may not get another until he gets Penn State again.
12. Penn State - So far and away the worst team in the conference it's not even funny.
Conference games of the week:
1/22: Iowa @ #14 Ohio State: Iowa has won two in a row while Ohio State tries to bounce back from a loss in East Lansing. Can Iowa get the big road upset?
#13 Michigan State @ Wisconsin: Big, big game for two teams at the top of the standings. Kohl Center is always a tough place to win.
1/23: #12 Minnesota @ Northwestern: Gophers, losers of two straight, go on the road against a somewhat resurgent Wildcats team. Win for Minnesota is imperative to stay in the race, but NW is plucky.
1/24: Purdue @ #2 Michigan: Purdue starting to round into form after blasting WVU. Michigan will be big favorites, but I like Purdue to keep it close.
1/26: #12 Minnesota @ Wisconsin: These two could be tied in the standings come Saturday which makes this game all the more important. Cannot overstate importance for both teams.
1/27: #13 Michigan State @ #7 Indiana: This week's "game of the year" - two contenders, but in Bloomington gives the Hoosiers an edge. MSU could be staring down the barrel of an "0'fer" week.
#2 Michigan @ Illinois: Normally a team like Illinois I wouldn't call out here - but something about this game speaks to me. I could see the Illini getting hot again and Michigan going cold. Illini played them tough last year. -
se-alumTough one for the Bucks, even though it was kinda expected. Going on the road and winning in this league against the top 4 or 5 teams is going to be very difficult. I was very surprised that Wisky pulled one out in Bloomington.
