College Basketball Random Chatter 2012-2013 Season

Holy shit I didn't see the end of Miami- bc state till now. That 3/4 shot that went in and out is crazy.

I think they might still have a decent shot at an at large. The bottom of the Mac is absolutely terrible. That's what will kill them

As for the a-10 I would honestly put that conference at about 4th-5th best. A ton of quality teams that can beat anyone in the conference on any given night. And Dayton and Xavier are on a down year

I think if they win out and lose to OU in the tourney....they'd be hard to keep out.

I don't think Keith Dambrot will allow another loss to Ohio in the MAC tournament. That guy is a maniacal preparer and the Zips will be out for blood in that title game, if they meet.

Gonzaga in jeopardy of losing its opportunity at a two seed. The Zags trail 57 to 59 at San Diego (11-11) with five minutes left.

As good as Gonzaga has been this year, even if they pull this out, I still don't think they'll receive higher than a three seed. Their history of not advancing in the tournament won't help their cause either.

    Gonzaga escapes.

As everybody knows, Kansas lost to OK St tonight who has really nice young talent.

The Zips lost to OK St in OT (actually blew a 4pt OT lead with 2 minutes left) without two of their starters in Treadwell and Harney. Treadwell has the possibility of being the best Zip in Keith Dambrot's time at Akron. Harney is a great athlete and defender.

They have to beat OU in Cleveland to make the dance even if they win out. Only thing that could change this is getting a great bracketbuster draw, giving them a quality OOC win. The loss to Coastal Carolina the first game of the season (also without Harney and Treadwell) really hurt them. Anybody who watched the game tonight can see they are capable of making a tourney run.

Some huge mid-major games this week.

    Belmont (19-4, 10-0) at Murray State (16-5, 7-2)
    Memphis (18-3, 7-0) at Southern Mississippi (18-4, 7-0)
    New Mexico (19-3, 6-1) at Air Force (14-6, 5-2) AND UNLV (17-5, 4-3)

Louisville beating the dog piss out of Marquette. Marquette looks just awful. Mayo barely even plays anymore and they don't look anything like a borderline top 25 team.

Marquette got smacked around by Florida 82-49. Not quite as bad at Louisville, but they clearly aren't that good. They lost a ton from last year.

NCAA team, but NOT a team who scares you. I'd be a lot more scared of a team like St. John's, UC or Pittsburgh in the Big East. Better guards.

Pretty weak outside of 3 or 4.

SDSU and Murray, Wolters vs Canaan is a fantastic feature game. A few of those "busters" however, have been quite disappointing this year. Headlined by Northern Iowa and Detroit.

Yep, agreed. SDSU vs Murray St, NDSU vs Akron, Creighton vs St Mary's are the best matchups I think. Most of the rest seem to have a pretty clear favorite, or are teams that just aren't good.

Ohio at Belmont should be alright, Ill tune in.

Should be, if for no other reason that Belmont can prove they're not as much of a paper tiger as they always seem to be. Seriously, the last few years the computers loved them, only for them to fall flat in the first round of the NCAA (of course, I had them as my upset special the past two years...). This year, again, they're really highly regarded (#31 kenpom, currently #18 RPI).

While Tim Cluess rarely gets Iona to play to its potential, MoMo Jones and Sean Armand are usually worth flipping the channel to watch the Gaels. MoMo looks like he is playing with babies in the MAAC. He could average 35 per night if he set his mind to it. It's embarrassing. He should still be playing in the Pac-12.
  • Azubuike24
I predict Belmont will win out, beat OU and end up losing in the OVC Tourney. Both EKU and Murray can beat them.

Miami moved into the number eight spot nationally in this week's AP poll. The Hurricanes are ranked second in the RPI (behind fellow ACC member Duke) and first in SOS (Duke is second).

If they haven't already, I think people should finally start to take notice of the Canes. Jim Larranaga has been doing this for a long damn time -- I spent many nights in Andesron Arena watching his great Falcon teams led by Antonio Daniels in the mid-90s -- and he finally has a whole team of topflight talent to work with. The convincing win over Michigan State earlier in the year and the thrashing of Duke are all you need to know about the ceiling for this Miami club. What happened in-between with big man Reggie Johnson sidelined can be tossed aside. They are very dangerous and quickly entering one or two seed talk.

New Nike Hyper Elite Road uni's.

Super pissed about the Carolina ones.
  • Azubuike24
Those Texas unis are fucking awful.

BTW, anyone looking for a good bet. Arkansas, at home tonight vs Florida, +13.

Florida has won 8 straight SEC games by 15+ points. Arkansas under Mike Anderson is a top 25 caliber team at home. This is a crazy spread and it's due for a cover by the Hogs.

Don't fuck me here azu..50 on Arkansas
  • Laley23
Arkansas is awesome at home, terrible on the road. I'm expecting a single digit win for Florida.
  • SportsAndLady
Yeah, 10 wins in a row at home...granted not great competition. Only loss was to the Cuse, by single digits.

I also put 10 on Arkansas straight up...so lets go hogs lol
  • Fly4Fun
Looking good for Arkansas so far (jinx).

    26-10 when I posted.
