College Basketball Random Chatter 2012-2013 Season

GOONx19Well, my opinion on the POY race (that Withey is the frontrunner) obviously doesn't matter.

SportsAndLadyEh, its early. Some of those names at the top are there because either their name or their schools name.

The top 4 are all in the order I would have them, to be honest. Current record DOES play into that, however.SportsAndLady;1362964 wrote:Eh, its early. Some of those names at the top are there because either their name or their schools name.
Zeller has under-performed. But IU has 5 guys averaging 11+ points. He is leading the B1G in Pts+Reb+Ast at just under 30 a game (though I think Burke actually passed him up recently).
Burke and Plumlee speak for themselves. McDermott is nasty, but wont have a shot if the others continue this play through conference season where they face tougher competition than Creighton. -

Yeah, the only player I can say truly doesn't belong is Anthony Bennett. I don't think anything he's done warrants second place votes.Laley23;1362987 wrote:The top 4 are all in the order I would have them, to be honest. Current record DOES play into that, however.

Fly4FunIt was around this point last year that OSU fans were having to defend not having Trey Burke and that Craft was more than suitable. God how nice it would be to have another reliable scorer on the floor.
I love Craft and all the effort he gives. But when we struggle to score, it's hard not to look at someone like Burke and imagine what things would be like with him out there. -
Classyposter58Tonight I'm taking Michigan State -2 at Iowa and Arizona -1.5 at Oregon
-
gorocks99Tough games to call as I think both Iowa and Oregon are pretty good clubs, particularly at home. Might actually be inclined to take the Ducks over the Wildcats tonight.
-
reclegend22E.J. Singler can ball. Taking the Ducks might not be a bad call. Arizona has been walking a tight rope lately and they're gonna fall at some point. I don't see why it couldn't be in Eugene. Oregon strolled into the Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas and ran the Runnin' Rebels off the Strip.

I disagree with both of those actually.Classyposter58;1363273 wrote:Tonight I'm taking Michigan State -2 at Iowa and Arizona -1.5 at Oregon -
Azubuike24I took Iowa +2 and Arizona -1. Also North Texas +3 and Kentucky -12. Long shot to win all 4 in one night but it's a 12:1 payoff.
Iowa/MSU in a good battle thus far. -
Classyposter58Haha I'm busy sweating this one out for sure. Come on Sparty
-
reclegend22Wish I would've taken Miami tonight. Carolina about to drop to 0-2 in the ACC with a home loss to the Canes. Down nine with three minutes to play.
-
MulvaIowa's whiteness is shining through in the 2nd half. They can't create any space offensively.
-
Azubuike24Iowa without their leading scorer as well. It's just something about Iowa/MSU, the Hawkeyes at home. This is almost a must win otherwise their B1G record is in serious trouble.

Glad Roy didn't use any of his timeouts during that 8-0 run. Gotta save those for strategy in the final minute when the outcome is already decided.reclegend22;1363340 wrote:Wish I would've taken Miami tonight. wildcats20PATHETIC.
-
ironman0210-5 overall. 0-2 in ACC play. No sign of improvement. Can't score. Can't defend the perimeter. Done. This team is just done.
I don't know that I've ever been more pissed watching Carolina basketball than I am right now. -

I was more ok with the 8-20 team than I am this one.ironman02;1363353 wrote:10-5 overall. 0-2 in ACC play. No sign of improvement. Can't score. Can't defend the perimeter. Done. This team is just done.

reclegend22Barring a miraculous turnaround to the season, i.e. Michael Jordan walking through the door, North Carolina is now playing for home-court advantage in the N.I.T. The Heels are 10-5 and 0-2 in the ACC, with games at Florida State and against Maryland looming. Then at N.C. State on January 26. Yikes.
-
Azubuike24Well, with Iowa +2, this has disaster ending written all over it...

On a serious note, what the hell is going on in Chapel Hill, and are we nearing the end of Roy's career? I'm not sure if it's his health or what, but Williams has seemingly lost his touch. It's quite weird for a Hall-of-Famer of his status -- a two-time national champion and Final Four regular -- to all of a sudden drop off the face of the earth during the peak of his powers. I mean, North Carolina is in jeopardy of heading back to the NIT for the second time in four years. Unreal. -

This!....Im so pissed watching this team I can't believe it. At this point I will be ecstatic to be considered for the tourney.ironman02;1363353 wrote:10-5 overall. 0-2 in ACC play. No sign of improvement. Can't score. Can't defend the perimeter. Done. This team is just done.

reclegend22The Big Redhead calling the Arizona game. Sadly, this is the best thing that has happened to me this week. But I welcome it. Walton is my favorite basketball color man of all-time. So glad he is back doing college basketball semi-regularly.

I actually took MSU and Zona in the pick'em game. Just had a gut feeling today for some reason. I almost took Iowa straight up... definitely glad I pussed out.Classyposter58;1363369 wrote::laugh:You should learn not to disagree with my picks. Boy that MSU game was exciting, I'll take a blowout here
