College Basketball Random Chatter 2012-2013 Season

  • reclegend22
There seems to be a split down the middle here on whether the video evidence is clear enough to make an accurate determination or not, which is why we can all agree that the officials got it wrong by deciding to reverse the original decision. That's the definition of inconclusive. Colorado was the victim of an old fashioned stick up in the desert tonight.

Without knowing exactly what the replay rules are for basketball, I 100% agree with that.

They go to the replay to make a call. I don't believe, based on what I have read tonight, that it has to be indisputable or anything like that.

Which to me means the call on the court is irrelevant.

    Seth Davis...

Unlike the NFL there is NO language in the rule book about needing strong evidence to a reverse a call. You judge the replay regarless.

Yeah, that one you are showing is clearly a cropped shot of the actual scoreboard.

The ones we see on the scoreline during the games are a newer device. You set-up a laptop and tie directly into the scoreboard feed from whatever runs it to the laptop, then the laptop to the chyron or whatever computer program they are using for their graphics package. That is 100% always dead on accurate.

The 3rd way is similar, but you run the bnc cable to the laptop which has its own timer program and run that directly to what we see on program. You set the time to countdown when the operator inside for the scoreboard hits start and have it stop when he hits stop. If they reset the time, it resets the timer on the laptop program. The only way this is off is if by chance the laptop program is too fast or too slow and over the course of 14 game minutes (as an example) the program counted down 14 minutes and 1 hundreth of a second. If that makes sense.... lol I hope it did.

That's too bad, since it was originally ruled a three, and there really isn't evidence that shows a clear verdict one way or the other. From the couple of angles I saw on Sportscenter, it looked good to me.

Agreed. Even if there isn't any specific language in the rule book regarding "inconclusiveness," the monitor replay revealed nothing. The three-point field goal should have stood as good. Colorado got f-----d.

Reminds me of the sign held up at an ACC game that read:

"SportsCenter is next, unless duke needs more time."

    Some barn-burners right now:

Marquette 13 - 6 Georgetown with 6 minutes to play in 1st half.
    Butler 9 - 9 ONU with 7 minutes left in 1st half.
  • Azubuike24
This is shocking. New Orleans just lost to Mississippi State by 51 the other night. 51. 3 days before beating UNO, Mississippi State lost AT HOME to 3-7 Alabama A&M.

Mississippi State is going to lose 16+ games in the SEC. They are easily the worst team in the conference.

    Such is life in basketball...

    Cincy drops another home game...

USF's Victor Rudd is shitting all over Syracuse right now.
  • killer_ewok
USF was up 17-7 at one point. Syracuse up 30-23 at the half.

Nice double-digit win for the 'Cuse on the road today.

Michigan pummeled Iowa. The Wolverines look mighty good right now.

Temple is a good team...they'll give KU fits in this game
  • reclegend22
I think Kansas wins by eight, but Temple is definitely a good team. Khalif Wyatt is a baller. And Jake O'Brien is a floor stretcher at almost 6-10. He can let it fly from deep.
  • SportsAndLady
Ben McLemore is good at dunking

    Temple up 2 in AFH.
  • SportsAndLady
Phew...pulled it out at the end.

30 straight home wins. Really think Temple is a top 20 team.

Its Price is Right rules..so he was eliminated by guessing over

After watching the Owls anatomize the Syracuse zone in the middle with Anthony Lee, it made me a believer. I said that day that Temple could be a dark horse for the Final Four. Khalif Wyatt has now scored 59 points in games against Syracuse and Kansas. Balling.

That one was too close for comfort. I was disappointed to see KU lacking that go-to guy who gets in done when you need it (in the Paul Pierce, Brandon Rush mold). McLemore has talent, but he hasn't really taken over games the same way yet. I assume as he gets more seasoned he'll develop that instinct more.

Agree w/ that last sentence. It's almost like KU players are so warped into playing into Self's system and not trying to be the "go-to guy" that when they actually can take the game over they are hesitant to. Soon as Self can get BMac confident in being that guy, he's going to play like this.

WTF is going on in Minneapolis. I need the Gophers to win by nine over a depleted and terrible Northwestern team to finish off my three-game teaser and win me $100 and they have 11 points with under five minutes to go in the first half? My luck is unbelievable.
